When it comes to heights, having a healthy dose of fear is completely natural. It is also linked to the fear of falling, which serves as a protective mechanism for most of us. However, some people seem to be fearless, pushing the boundaries of safety and even risking their lives by climbing to the edges of rooftops, rocky mountains, or even on a windowsill to reach a dirty spot on the ninth floor.
Today, we would like to present you with some of the craziest images from all over the internet that Bored Panda collected of adrenaline enthusiasts reaching unnerving heights. These experiences, which have either been photographed by others or documented by the daredevils themselves, can seem like an unattainable adventure for regular people, not to mention people with acrophobia (the fear of heights). So whether you are actually afraid of heights or simply are not a fan of putting your life at risk, these images will serve you as an adventure you would never take but could enjoy from the safety of solid ground.

In North Dakota, there is a TV tower 2063 feet (628.8024 meters for the rest of the world). The antenna is a hollow tube about this big around. To do work on the antenna, they would lower a technician head first into the tube with a rope around his feet. (My ex MIL worked there). Both of my favorite phobias: acro and clostro

How do people not fall down??? My doctor's office on the 5th floor has a balcony looking down to the lobby and vaulted ceilings. I looked at the ceiling 15 feet back from the balcony and fell down. Can't walk on the edge of the second story of the mall. The American Indian Museum in DC is the scariest building I have ever been in. Gave me a panic attack

I've done this! It's the Sky Tower in Auckland. It's actually a controlled fall...you fall a few feet and then they dangle you like this mid-air for a few moments to take a picture before they drop you again all the way to the ground. I think it's about 190 metre drop (like 660 feet). Was a lot of fun!

Great picture, but it doesn't really show how bad the air was. You couldn't go anywhere without a mask and even with the mask on it was still difficult to breathe. After just a day into my trip that year I had laryngitis, just from the irritation caused by inhaling all the smoke.

The popularity of daredevil selfies has shifted people's perception of reasonable vs dangerous risk. There is such a thing as self-preserving, intelligent fear. It's one thing if fear of heights gets in the way of you doing normal things -- like you won't ever take elevators or you break out in a sweat if you're visiting an office or home in a high-rise building. But most of the people here talking about "overcoming fear of heights" are taking dangerous risks.

How many times do we as humans slip, trip, sneeze and get knocked off your balance, have a dizzy spell. It's just not worth it. It's not about being sure footed, humans are fallible. It makes me feel ill.

I guess I’m not adventurous. But, then again, I’m still alive after half a century. I just can’t imagine why anyone would risk their lives (or, worse, the lives of others) to take a photo of their legs dangling off of a ledge. There’s enough that can go wrong on the ground. Why risk it?

After looking at these photos, I can confirm that I'm not afraid of heights, but of falling from them. If the person is wearing visible safety equipment or otherwise cannot fall, I have no problem looking at the photo. If they're rawdogging it, I feel nauseated and anxious.

Ah, I needed this —seeing the perspective from high places knocks the mud off my soul. I miss going up (my fetal “co-pilot” had me grounded until their birth) and if I can’t fly a plane, I’ll enjoy the photos others bring back down to earth!
