Kids born in 2000 are (almost) turning 23. Let that sink in for a minute. The existential crisis of realizing how illegally fast time flies is unparalleled and it gets more severe as we approach the New Year.
The past has become this parallel reality with most things now forgotten. But memory is a powerful thing and thanks to this nostalgic Facebook page “Do You Remember When,” it brings back to life the most nostalgic, weird, and hilarious moments, items, games, TV commercials, and people swept away in history.
“We are here to remember the past, from the movies, TV shows, commercials, games, or items we bought,” reads the page’s description. With a whopping 3M followers, it’s fair to say it is doing a good job, so pull your seat closer and enjoy a walk down memory lane!

I Loved My Super Spirograph In The '70s. I Have Been Tempted To Buy One Again, Even Though You Can Do Perfect Ones On The Computer, Lol, There Is Something About Doing It This Way That Was Just So Fun
I can’t even guess how many hours I played with this. I absolutely loved mine.
Remember These Paper Dolls?
I remember my younger sisters having these. The dolls were heavy cardboard, and the clothes were basically paper, and most of the time they had to be cut out with a scissors. They didn't last long because if the clothes got wet, they would slowly disintegrate.
We've all heard of a saying that history repeats itself. We can debate on whether it’s true or not, but it’s hard to ignore our fascination with the past. One of the inseparable emotions attached to the ways we envision the past and understand ourselves in the present is a sense of nostalgia. This powerful emotion evokes a feeling of longing for something that has long gone, a fondness for memories, and a yearning for simpler times.
The idea of nostalgia has grown in popularity, and it’s used to evoke a certain feeling of comfort and familiarity. It can be deeply personal, but also shared in a way that it connects people to their pasts and creates a sense of community bonded by shared experiences.
Yes The Corner Candy Stores Sold These!
I'm baffled. In Germany, we had these too, but not with actual real tobacco-brands.

It can be used in advertising, storytelling, filmmaking and many other areas. Fashion is particularly saturated with sentimental homages as trends defy time and come back to life again and again. The renaissance of Y2K style is a great example with fashionistas rocking choker necklaces, cargo pants, and big hair claw clips, among many other things.

And recording songs off the radio with my cassette player and getting ticked off when he started talking at the end of the songs. Lol
Fashion experts say it’s absolutely logical because fashion trends come back in cycles. "Fashion tends to work in 30-year cycles," explains Heather Newberger, a freelance fashion stylist and author of "How to Date Your Wardrobe.
"In the late '90s and '00s, many of the most popular trends were actually just reimagined versions of styles from the '60s and '70s. The bell-bottom craze fed into the rise of flared jeans, mod-style hats into bucket hats and so on. "What we’re seeing on runways today falls right in that cycle. While we reimagined the '60s and '70s in the '90s and '00s, today we’re seeing Gen Z reconceptualize those looks," Newberger said.
Yup!
Grandma had a silver one. Wish I had it. It was freakin indestructible.

I'm 40 and my mom just turned 79. She still does this too XD
Load More Replies...Nope. I honestly don't remember cars not having seatbelts. I always used to sit in the middle in the back with the lap belt on, which was a lethal device. I actually drive a car now which is older than me and although it technically doesn't need to have seatbelts, as it was built without, currently has racing harnesses fitted.
My brother will be 51 on Monday and when our family reminisces about our childhood my mom brings up that not only seatbelts were unheard of but my brother, as a toddler would be standing on the passenger seat holding on to the dashboard, he's technically a Gen X, I'm in that gap between Gen X and millennials, I can't believe our generation's survived at all!
Load More Replies...I do this, not as a seat belt but to stop my handbag flying of the front seat. Hubby not amused at junctions when I smacked him in the unmentionables.
I remember mom chasing a poor teenage boy and gf thru town like a 70s movie car chase. Brother and me were unbuckled and flying around the backseat. She was cutting people off and driving in the turn lane. When she finally got them pulled over the poor boy looked scared to death. She proceeded to cuss and lecture him for his reckless driving at the intersection a few miles back and her kids are in the car and could have been killed. Lol. Mom may of had anger issues.
I don't have kids, but I do it whenever I have a passenger in the car. Lol
Yup! Sat on the armrest between Grampa (driving) and NaNa. Red light coming up, two arms in front of me. Good times.
And, it's a hard habit to break even after many years of wearing seat belts.
I'm almost 70 yrs old and did that to a friend awhile back. Also do it with my dog and my purse! LOL!
I would tell my mom that I could control my own inertia, whenever that arm would fling itself at me.
Hopefully one’s reminiscing about being a kid, not rueing the day seatbelts became a standard car feature, lol
That's so funny this is here! Last night my friend was driving me home and he was going fast while making a tight turn and his arm instantly extended across my chest! I laughed and said he either turned into a mom from the 70's/early 80's or he's Frank Costanza pretending to "stop short", he's 46 I'm 45 lol
My childhood cars all had seatbelts that didn't work, or we just weren't required to wear them. I don't think there was a speed limit back then either, for a while. Weeeeee going 95 MPH to school 😂 (Montana, USA)
Agreed!!

Forgotten About Heckle And Jeckle And Now I Remember! 💜
They were 'banned' (really they just stop showing the cartoons) because they were characters created from racist tropes. Many of the characters from Looney Toons and Hanna Barbara were extremely racist and stereotypes. They weren't part of 'our culture' or 'our history' - they were blatant examples of systemic racism in the USA. And to those who said, 'They were just cartoons!' - yes, just cartoons, so why do you miss them or need them?

Elvira Is 70 🖤& Still Beautiful!
She has burn scars over 75% her body from a childhood accident. When she was coming up with this character, she had a close friend who worked in costumes design her an outfit that was as revealing as possible without showing her scars. That's how her iconic dress was designed!

Agreed. 90's kids would have been my grandchildren, had either of my children lived long enough to have them, but these posts are mostly my own memories.

One Adam 12 just popped into my head while reading through this. Also the original Twilight Zone. . . . And Wonder Bread.
There were quite a few missing...but they were similar to others sometimes, so I included them as comments. You should go back and do the same!
