Yes. There are sooo many lower cost options out there. Every hospital has signs stating if you can’t afford your healthcare they will help. And I don’t want the government making my healthcare decisions. Just look at how they screwed up SS

...as opposed to the control companies have (insurance, medical, pharma) whose sole aim is to get rich, instead of - as the idea was with insurances/med/pharma - help people? As opposed to the control millions of people further down the pecking order - homeless, for example, or in chronical pain - have without sufficient funds to support themselves? "Freedom" that you have to buy is freedom for the rich only, and slavery for the rest.

Again , none of the insurances Ive had, has ever denied a procedure, test or medication.

Either Krista doesn't realize that paying insurance premiums is "paying for it," or she's well below the poverty line and has been handled as a ward of the state. 30 years ago, I went to the ER and was billed $240 for a band-aid and some Neosporin; 14 years ago, I was billed about $5,000 for a colonoscopy even though I was insured

I pay 46$ a month for full 100% coverage. Insurance premium isn’t the same as paying medical bills.

I stand corrected and chastised, and relieved to know that there is no healthcare crisis in the USA. Obviously, there is a crybaby problem instead

This is a lie Alice M, you don’t pay a % of all your bills. If you have insurance, you have to pay out of pocket until your deductible is met. If she had “the best” she’d pay 500-2k deductible, then the rest is covered by insurance. Plus a blown ACL isn’t considered an elective. You can get in right away instead of waiting many months with your pain prescription for an opening. US system is far from perfect, but universal healthcare has plenty of drawbacks as well.

I’ve had 2 kids. Had several feet of intestine removed. Broken ankle, broken finger with 5 stitches, broken fibula, tibial plateau fracture that they put a plate and 11 screws in, 22 staples. Blown out knee, lymes disease, countless number of stitches. And of course can’t forget about my non Hodgkin’s lymphoma and subsequent tumor removal. Definitely not lucky. I’ve lived all over the country, California, North Dakota, Ohio, Maryland, Georgia, PA and upstate New York. I’ve never had to wait for any form of medical care. Sorry your state is so bad.

Exactly- there are many programs out there to help with what insurance doesn’t cover, or for those uninsured.

Sounds like you think the extreme privilege you've been blessed with is something everyone has access to. Many of us don't. Maybe you should think about how to share that privilege instead of showing your ignorance by leaving callous comments that only apply to your situation and almost no one else's. The lack of compassion is, quite frankly, astounding!

Lack of compassion how? If you can’t afford medical the hospital still HAS to treat you. They have programs for poor people, they have Medicare for old and disabled. Medicaid for poor people. Low cost clinics for those that fall through the cracks. If you aren’t a lazy a*s, you can always find a way. But people don’t want to do the work. My daughter just got an ultrasound at a low cost clinic for 120 AND they offered a payment plan. What more can they offer?
