People Couldn’t Ignore These 50 Good Ideas Executed Horrendously, So They Shared Them In This Group
Generally, what separates a good design from a bad one is that a good design focuses on making a product useful and doesn't include anything that takes away from it, while a bad design is confusing, distracting, difficult to use, and has a short lifespan.
However, what if the design that has potential was executed in such a way that the finished result has an inferior outcome? Well, it turns out that we get these half-good, half-bad sorts of ideas that, if done better, could be golden. So this leads us to a subreddit called Good Taste But Awful Execution (aka GTBAE), where people share their findings of these bad executions in the wild.

Although failed designs are sure fun to look at and try to fathom how they happened, they also affect our lives in smaller or bigger ways. After the funny part fades away, then follows confusion, then frustration and annoyance. Sometimes proper screen setups often are a hit or miss kinda thing. Taking a shot at it is OK, but somebody should check if the whole thing is on point before starting an event on such an impactful topic.

So why do people miss such a crucial step? Well, one of the main reasons is resources. To do a test drive, in some cases, can be time-consuming and expensive, especially for small businesses or individuals who are making, for example, cake for their child's birthday.
However, keep in mind that the cost of not testing can be even higher. A bad design can waste resources, cost money, and harm a company's reputation. It may even result in legal liability in some cases if the design causes harm to users.

Overconfidence is another reason why people may avoid testing. They may believe that they have created a design that is error-free and does not need to be tested. This way of thinking can be dangerous because it can lead to the design missing potential flaws and weaknesses.
Luckily, most of the design fails here are rather harmless and will be more of a funny memory than a lifelong injury. It only depends on how you will look at it and whether you will try your best and learn from the failure or keep failing in the future until you do.

I don't know - depending on this horse's personality and trust in his human, it could be an enrichment activity. I think in general there's a big issue with people failing at providing animals enrichment and variation in their lives. I'd rather see this, where the animal doesn't appear to be stressed, than see an animal with neurotic habits resulting from boredom. I agree that you should never stress an animal for entertainment, but I don't think doing things like this is cruel by definition. Just depends on the animal.

For those concerned for the horse, I'd say it probably doesn't mind too much. If a horse is agitated, you're gonna know it. The owner and the horse probably have a close relationship, otherwise the horse wouldn't have let them put the costume on in the first place. It also stood still long enough for this photo to be taken, meaning it wasn't too uncomfortable and trying to take the costume off

Can someone confirm this as real? Because to me it looks like the letters are photoshopped in. Could've been an attempt to incite comments for internet points by the photoshop artist. Which absolutely DOES make sense, as plastic cups can be recycled much better than paper ones. Paper cups have a plastic coating on th inside that makes them very difficult to recycle , so switching to a paper cup would archieve nothing. The whole environmental balance of paper cups is much worse than those of plastic ones. What would be best, of course, would be not using any straw at all - which is made more difficult by the american obsession with copious amounts of ice in their drinks.

Straws are often a necessity for people with disabilities that make it so they cannot lift their drinks. That said, there are other options than paper or plastic.

Pla is sold as biodegradable, but it isn't really ... Often coated with other stuff . And it needs to be in a specialised composting installation for several weeks (longer than the usual cycle) at minimum 55°C... And even if it does break down, it doesn't add any value to the soil. Just co2. And it contaminates the plastic recycling streams ...

There was a turtle with a straw up its nose, the straw was traced to El Salvador, which has much more lax waste laws. But yes, fishng nets are 75-86% of ocean plastic waste.

This is a thread about good ideas, bad design. They should not have used a man with a beard next to such a fair skinned woman. Their natural skin tone would have worked better, and been less jarring. Beyond that... We are all humans.

To be fair, they may be using those as a test to see how the actual tiles will look. Sort of like when you paint a patch on a wall before doing the whole thing, make sure it looks good in various light, etc.
