Making a mistake is a completely human thing. From small blunders that go unnoticed to bigger miscalculations that cost a whole day’s work, it happens to everybody every day. Some of those we easily forget; some take a while to get over.
The mistakes documented in the list below are not ones you can easily leave behind. That’s because, firstly, they make quite an impression with their silliness. Secondly, many of them are either permanent or would require some serious effort to fix them. In other words, it’s not that easy to just brush them off as they’re always in your face.

Load More Replies...The testament to the idea that mistakes are very common is the amount of them we have experienced throughout history. Some instances could even take us back hundreds if not thousands of years.
One of the most famous mistakes is the crash of the Titanic. A moonless night paired with an unexpected obstacle caused the loss of 1,514 people. However, as more people are continuing to look into the matter, more mistakes are being found.
If you look closely it appears the truck has the load covered but not the back end of the actual truck

Load More Replies...He's a good friend for not dropping the bike when he figured out this wasn't a smart decision.

Louise Patten, a writer and granddaughter of Titanic second officer Charles Lightoller, once revealed that the steersman of Titanic made a huge mistake when trying to avoid disaster. In a snap decision, he turned the wrong way when the crew identified the iceberg ahead.
You see, the steering systems in steel boats work in the opposite way compared to sailboats. This, together with the fact that this massive ship was going very fast, made the collision unavoidable.
Ha haa you stole my exact thoughts, lol..."Come on Chuck, why do you need expensive cameras and circuits? Stainless steel panels will do the trick, man!"

Load More Replies...Another major mistake that resulted in a wreckage of a vessel that, fortunately, didn’t take any lives happened in 1999. Mars Climate Orbiter was a robotic space probe that was designed by NASA to study the red planet. However, it didn’t succeed in its mission. That is because the company that made the spacecraft, Lockheed Martin, used US customary units while building it even though NASA used the metric system designing it. The silly mistake caused the orbiter to get too close to the planet and, subsequently, destroyed.
I suppose the trees were first. It would be incredibly stupid to break up the pavement. Plant a tree where there was no place for before. Whilst having the planters already there. They just came, saw the trees, tiled around it and proceeded to make the rest like it was on the blue print.
Load More Replies...This is like when you move an image in Word and it messes up all of the text
And every time you try to fix the spacing the trees just keep moving farther away…
Load More Replies...Maybe they used to have bushes in the planters but they died and weren't replaced?
It's easier to float down there with the water, though.
Load More Replies...Oh my God, this happened to us. The municipality I live in forced every homeowner on the block to install some sort of drainage pipes from our houses to the street. In return, they added storm runoff grates up and down the street. When they put the one in front of our house in, they placed it on the north side of our driveway. No one bothered to listen to us or our neighbor when we explained how rain water ran right to the south side of the driveway and then made it's way over the apron and straight onto the sidewalk where it would build up until it dried up. So, the very next morning, after installation, it stormed hard and when the township inspectors came, they saw the mistake and what happened because of it. One of them actually said, "that storm drain should be on the other side". No. S**t. Sherlock. They never did make it right and we have the cleanest storm drain grate in the neighborhood.
Apparently the same idiots that designed the walkway in front of my apartment also designed this. Same issue every time is rains more than a few teaspoons.
Someone failed their physics class. No wonder, they should have still been in third grade.
Even if you don't arrive in a wheelchair, it looks like you'll probably leave in one
As a person who uses a wheelchair, I’d like to say I’m surprised…but unfortunately, I’m not. The world we live in isn’t made with those of us on wheels in mind.
I can just see it: "We need to put a ramp here." "What are they for, anyway?" "I don't know, but it looks too steep. We'll put some stairs at the end, tthat'll fix it." "You're a genius."
Load More Replies...Some mistakes, however, aren’t that unfortunate. In fact, one could call them lucky accidents. One of them is Ian Fleming’s discovery of penicillin, which made a huge impact on today’s medicine and earned him a Nobel prize.

The thing that made him curious was the fact that the mold was surrounded by “juice” that protected it from bacteria. He, together with a group of other scientists, started looking into it and soon enough discovered penicillin.
The poor thing had to grow sideways due to the shadows of the building. It will tip over soon.
Load More Replies...My job was to help you get out of the building. Getting to the street is your problem
Stairs should be on that side, ramp on the other side.
Load More Replies...I don't think this is a "mistake". More likely someone crashed into it and they've wrapped the column to prevent bricks from tumbling down. Presumably will eventually get fixed.
This is a temporary fix. Like the temporary fix on my next door neighbor's place that has been there for ten years - the front corner of the roof is held up with a scaffolding pole.
Load More Replies...Bricks are for decorative purposes and it's hollow inside. There's a steel column as the main support.
this photo is clipped, there is a skid steer at the bottom aligning the spiral stair case with the doors
Great photo, but if I remember correctly that staircase is not attached to the building, it was built on the ground and is being raised into place.
They're obviously expecting adrenalin to kick in when the building's on fire, so the tenants will easily be able to make the required leaps...
Landlord got tired of renters sneaking out the back door when it came time to collect the rent?
Another medical discovery that could be called a lucky accident is, of course, Viagra. Pfizer scientists were looking for medication to treat high blood pressure and angina, chest pain related to coronary heart disease.

There are also mistakes that haven’t had such a huge impact on society, but definitely ruined people’s lives. Like the mistake of not checking whether you’ve won the lottery after buying the same numbers for weeks. That is what happened to one British couple who failed to claim their 3,011,065-pound (3,755,114 US dollars) win on time.

Me: Minding my buisness, walking upstairs My brother: Swings the door open and I go tumbling down the stairs
This situation looks a lot like the door to our attic growing up. The house was built in the 1600s and there was an attic off the staircase, which was stone by the way. Admittedly there was a very small landing, more like a shelf, to stand on when you opened the attic door, and if I remember rightly the door opened inwards. Hey, when you have small spaces, you do what you need to make it work.
Seems like there should be someone to attach a platform to the door to make this easier to deal with. Something that folds down when the door is open or pulls out of the wall.

If I wanted someone in that pool, bridge or no bridge, they're going in.
Load More Replies...The mistake is, certainly, unfortunate. The man had already made plans of ditching his job and traveling the world with money he didn’t yet have. Once it became clear that he would not be getting it, he felt like it had been “taken away” from him. He became obsessed with the lost millions and went into multiple legal battles over them. Soon, his marriage crumbled and he joined a religious cult.
This would be such a nuisance. What if you need to put something in a drawer, but there's no more room left in the others?
Looks like they divided one room into two with a solid wall and unfortunately it landed smack in the middle of the cabinetry.
Oh, what the heck, nobody will notice. There's too many drawers in this side anyway.

It looks like they are using it to hide a whole in the wall. Lol If you look closely you can see the whole between the 1 and 2, 4 and 5.
Mistakes are often called “the human factor” because they are inevitable. Some of them are serious. Others simply make us cringe as we’re trying to fall asleep. We hope the images from this list will not haunt you at night. Instead, maybe they can act as a reminder to pay a little more attention when you’re working.
This was probably originally meant as an express bike lane, so it would actually have made sense to cross this way. Only the pedestrians using it defy the purpose.
I'd like to know what engineer thought that building an expensive crossing no one in their right mind would use (and no one disabled could use) was better than just painting a crosswalk across the bike lane.

In my high school the boys bathroom stalls all lacked doors. I always wondered why.
I think they got the instructions wrong for which side the door was to be hung.
Let me see those blueprints again. (They couldn't put a door on the other one without it hitting the sink.)
Doncha hate it when they stand in line behind you 😐 ...just slam the door.

Ugh. Amateur. You're supposed to inject insulin under his tongue so the mark can't be found, then wrap the body in a garbage bag, and into the trunk with a shovel and drive two hours outside your house so you're out of the geographical profile, then dig a hole twelve feat deep and put a dead animal half way, then at the top, plant an endangered plant so people can't dig it up. But if for some reason they find a way to, the dead animal will come in and they'll stop digging. If they so happen to find the body they'll run a tox screen to see if any drugs were involved, insulin won't show up on a tox screen and if they specifically test for insulin they'll assume it was undiagnosed diabetes. Do it right next time.
how do you bury yourself 12 feet deep after you die from diabetes...

Something funny here. Those sleepers are six inches off the ground. Where's ballast they should be set in?
This is the moment when you realize why your friends let you be the first one on the new escalator.
This reminds me of a one way dead end street. I saw one at Fort Bragg (now called Fort Liberty or something.) The military police would park at the entrance and give tickets for going the wrong way.
Would hate it if there was a power outage and I had to climb all the escalator steps only to see THIS...
When did the window start drooping?? Have you seen a professional about it?
Is that in Nuremberg? I remember a Best Western with that, ahem, windows layout.

There's a pay by the wk,mth or day motel in our county ( they have a few ) where the majority of the rooms are built like that. Better bring your own air freshener if you have more than one person in there. Especially when someone has an upset stomach or eats too many spicy foods. You can't close the bathroom door and believe me it's nasty
I was think pipes or conduits but yes, definately for maintenance.

I remember a comment on this picture that was “Romeo, Romeo were art thou Romeo. Seriously, where art thou?!”
Look! (points to piece of paper) it says here 'cut hole in wall, instal duct'. That's what it says, that's what you got. Now pay up.
They REALLY needed to take care of that radon problem for the new buyers…
Surely this sign means the disabled entrance is straight ahead, just the sign is in a place where it's by these escape stairs? If it meant the ladder, it would have an arrow pointing to the right to the ladders?

Remove the handle and make a small cut-out instead.

I would probably try to pry it out just to fix it, or maybe paint it
Ah, reminds me of German bureaucracy. A theater (plays, not movies) needed to be renovated. The building was old and done in a certain building style, so it was worth protecting. Unfortunately the hand rails on the stairs where to short for modern standards, but because of protected status they also couldn´t be replaced. so did something similar to the picture IIRC.
I've fallen down staircases three times in my life. If this were the fourth, it would also be the final.
I have nightmares involving steps like these... and being late for a class in college.
Having the system open like that will only contribute to a heating problem though due to lack of proper air flow
Nope. Open > Closed. It doesn't matter what anyone says. 15 years of testing gives me reams of empirical evidence. The only problem with this particular image is that they should have the radiator the other way around.
