Imagine it’s a summer evening. It’s nearly dark, but you can still see shapes and shadows. Sad to say, but in the US we are about to lose our Northern long eared bats. In March of this year the Fish and Wildlife Service proposed to put them on the endangered species list. It is currently listed as threatened but faces extinction due to a disease (white nose syndrome) affecting all of our cave dwelling bats across the continent.

I fell in love with bats early on in my life. But my all time favorite is the tiny little microbat, pipstrellus pipistrellus, or common pipistrelle.
Absolutely LOVE this!! Little boo-boos are so precious. They cuddle, then truly enjoy fruit and looking adorably with those big beautiful eyes. I'm in love.
