What could be cuter than an animal sticking out its tiny tongue? Or, even a not-so-tiny one - see, in the animal world, tongues come in different shapes, sizes and textures. They can serve a different function depending on an animal - feeding, grooming, or even gathering information.
A giraffe, for example, cleans its ears using a 20-inch long tongue. But, if you think that's the biggest tongue on the planet, you're wrong. The blue whale, being the largest mammal in the world, boasts a tongue that weighs more than an Asian elephant - 2.7 tones. A whale uses its tongue to push out water from its mouth when sifting for krill.
Still, the prize for the longest tongue in relation to the body size goes to the chameleon. This tiny fellow can stretch its tongue up to 1.5 times to its body length when trying to reach the sweet nectar of flowers.

Whenever my cat had his tongue sticking out, I had to touch it. It was just too cute to not do it. IMG_2970-5...2b77dc.jpg
