Frieder Paulus, a psychologist at the Lübeck University in Germany, told Quartz that embarrassment is social: it tells us when we have violated a social norm and makes us feel bad for doing so. But it's not clear why exactly we have the capacity to cringe or as scientists call it, feel vicarious embarrassment.
We feel others' embarrassment because we are empathetic—we imagine how someone else thinks and feels because it determines how we treat others and cooperate with one another. Feeling second-hand embarrassment might be just a byproduct of a more important trait, much like how the belly button is a symbol of the umbilical cord.

Do you recall what happened next? Were the black people offended, or confused, or did they even NOTICE that they were wearing facial-mud? (since that's all it was, apparently)? Or were the Golden Girls paranoid that they'd GIVE offense, accidentally? Were the show's producers AWARE of these things, socially? Were they staging a teachable-moment? ( hey, remember 1980s TV?: "Next, on a VERY SPECIAL EPISODE of Golden Girls... )

One thing that needs to change is defending criminals who have done something wrong and put themselves in the position that police ended up shooting them. Those people are not innocent especially since most of them had a rap sheet. Of course there's a couple of incidents that are exceptions. First when police light you up pull over. Second cooperate with them. If they go against the law in some manner (or that you "think" they are) don't argue with them on the street because more than likely you'll get shot. Either ask for a supervisor or report them and go to court to have the proper actions done to them. Now on the other hand yes I agree the constitution says all men (meaning women as well) are created equal and they all should be treated equal.

An episode of Seinfeld from the 90s came on TV and it had a disclaimer at the beginning warning that it may contain racist or offensive material. The disclaimer said the program would be show as is and that the material was acceptable at that time. Has the world gone f*****g mad. That is 30 years ago.

The website BuzzFeed had NOTHING to do with the episode getting pulled from streaming. Teaching "abstinence-only" simply doesn't work. Teach the kids about safe and consensual sex and about birth control. If you really care about fewer children getting pregnant and requesting abortions, this is the only reasonable way to go. (Nothing wrong in abstinence as an idea, though.)

I have said it before, and i will again...big companies need to start saying they will look at everything when hiring, they will see you eat a pod, lick a toilet, disrespect atrocities, be racist, homophobic etc and you will never get a job. They need to do it so that kids see and make better choices, because something is not working.

My friend's little dog got out right as we were finishing up a walk, came running up to my dog and I didn't realize he bit her in the nose. She had 11 pups so she just rolled him and scared the pee out of him (even though he tried to bite her again), looked really surprised when I was like "whoa!" Then I was so off-kilter that when my friend reached out her hand I F*****G SHOOK IT. I forgot she loaned me a coffee cup I was still holding. I now have to fake my death and move to Mongolia.

Or my son's favourite tale to reminisce over: when we were walking into the supermarket and the wind flipped my dress up [thank God I was wearing leggings so it wasn't as bad but still!])
