Well, I think it comes down to three things: culture, community, and economics. Because on its own, a gun is basically a tool. A tool with a single purpose, but a tool nevertheless. What we do with the gun is the issue. Firstly, the cultural symbolism of the gun and tying it to masculinity, strength, security, or whichever other idea or ideals, is a big part of the issue. And for the record, I'm not trying to rip on any of these thing. The next issue is community, or community verses individualism and the stress that the individual may experience causing them to break due the lack of a social safety net. And lastly, economics because have you noticed that for the vast majority of gun violence is typically higher in lower economic areas? This is a sign of a broken economic system and the lack of basic safety net programs like a higher minimum wage, affordable housing, universal healthcare, etc. I could expand more but for now I'll just let it be.

Because it would have been **so** much better if all the teachers in the school also had guns and were firing as well.
