Firstborn child. Though not to this extent, I've been in OP's place. Yeah, it hurts knowing your birth order made you the unlucky one. You don't get the best just because you were born first. Ouch. Because a lot of storytelling subreddits tend to be exercises in creative writing. There have been situations of stories being stolen from other users and posted years later, or some stories have rather obvious holes in them. In this case, as is being pointed out, this user raised and loved a child for five years, and that love is gone in an instant after a paternity. No normal person loses love of a child they genuinely had a bond with that quickly. Not to mention, this type of story is so common and textbook.

The exams in my computer science degree allow us to use a calculator. I dare you to try working with gigantic numbers, tiny numbers, or *imaginary numbers* without a calculator.

Actually, I wouldn't. Most developers learn the necessary skills *on the job*. Sure, there are basics (the equivalent to knowing the alphabet!), but a majority of the theory in computer science is not used in development unless said developer is in a *very* specialized role. You literally said you don't know anything about programming. Another commenter referenced Stack Overflow. That answers your question.

I study programming. Every developer I've spoken to has told me nobody expects anything to be memorized, and even professionals look up basic things like syntax because it changes constantly. Research is a skill. So, I agree with the original post. Plus, passing an exam does not mean the person knows the material. There's a reason many people forget the content shortly after the test ends.
