A friend told me a story about taking her kids to an aquarium with a friend who needed a wheelchair, but could be mobile for short spurts. Well the friend stood up to look at something for a bit and my friends daughter (like 12 at the time?) took advantage and sat in the wheelchair for a minute. Everyone at the exhibit thought she was wheelchair bound and immediately started moving and making way so she could see. My friend whispered to her daughter "don't you date stand up until we're out of here!" LOL! So she inadvertently took advantage to get a good view, then after leaving that particular space though the daughter got up and did not do that again. :P

I probably shouldn't be reading these at 4am XD This one reminded me of an old folk tale I read when I was a kid, called "The New Mother". IIRC, two little girls were being naughty and misbehaving, and their mother told them that if they kept being bad, she would leave and be replaced by a "new mother with glass eyes and a wooden tail." The kids keep on being bad, of course, and one day they come home and yep, there's a creepy, mechanical mother-thing inside with a thumping wooden tail and glistening glass eyes. I read an adaptation of this story in "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" in the 80s. I'm 44 now and I'm creeped out all over again XD

Years ago, I was headed from Maryland up into Pennsylvania on I-70. About halfway between the PA line and Ebensburg, I-70 does a long climb up the side of a ridge, crosses over the top, and descends the other side. There's often a line of tractor trailers slowly making the ascent, and drivers simply pass them if there's no traffic in the way. This time, I was passing the trailer trucks, but I wasn't going fast enough for the guy riding my tail. When I got to the top, I was past the trucks, and shifted back to the right lane (doing the speed limit), as he came barreling past me at full speed. But I knew that about a half mile down, there was a place where the State Police liked to sit off to the side and wait for speeders coming down off the top, and that odds were very good that it would be open for business. So I cheerfully let him zoom past, and sure enough, I soon saw him pulled over getting ticketed.

One fond memory was when I was a new joint head of security. Heard a bolshy bloke harassing the receptionists in order to jump a very long queue. Our 6'3" security guard was dealing, so I walked out of sight. Two minutes later the security guard appears saying "He wants to see someone more senior". I walk out, 22F, 5'1", looked like a schoolgirl. Conversation goes "I asked to see someone more senior". "I am more senior". "No, I mean someone like the Head of Security." "I AM the Head of Security." " Oh..." He deflated like a pricked balloon. Worst thing was trying to ignore the faint, muffled giggles from the door behind me where at least three other security guards had gathered to listen to everything kicking off.
