The “Conservatives Getting Owned” X page has been around for a while now (since that auspicious year of 2020), and has accumulated an impressive 356 thousand followers. In this day and age, most of us know not to pick fights online. After all, there is no “winning” , just a battle to logging off in the mud.
This is perhaps why this page succeeds, as it does a vital job of showcasing the times where folks with questionable ideas had those same ideas obliterated by words. The idea of a person deciding to “report a crime” online no doubt came from pages like this. If that’s not enough, remember, there are all sorts of cases of people owning themselves.

Yes, let's elect people to give us gun rights over those that give us health care rights. Then when there is no health care we will have enough guns to hijack planes to places with health care.

Most Americans don't know how it works up here: When we need to go to a hospital, everything's free. When we need prescriptions/dental care outside a hospital, we have to pay for it but there are healthcare plans through work and most provinces that keep the cost down. Complicated stuff usually has a waitlist and sometimes it can take a long time. But it's better than having your life savings wiped out cause you got cancer or had a stroke/heart attack/broke something. My dad's had prostate cancer and a triple bypass. 0 dollars. Stepmom's thyroid/breast cancer = 0 dollars. Babies born = 0 dollars. Sister's compound fractured tibia and 3hr ambulance ride = 0 dollars. It's amazing being Canadian and dealing with Americans somehow thinking they're superior in ANY way...
The average time for an American to get an appointment with an Immunologist is 4 months. There are quite a few examples showing that waiting time is a consequence of lack of enough doctors, not a feature if the healthcare systems'.

My husband went out on disability two years ago. Although he has Medicare now my kids and I were left with nothing. I ended up getting us Healthfirst...which is part of Obamacare. Last year I broke my ankle, tibia and fibula and I had to have surgery. All I paid were small co-pays for different things. If I didn't have Healthfirst we would have been buried in massive debt. My husband and I worked hard our whole lives....I'm not ashamed to say I needed Obamacare and thank God it was available.
Sure I’ll tell you about the wait times for serious medical procedures. When my mom had breast cancer, she waited *one day* between seeing her doctor and getting a CT scan
Australian here (also socialised health care). Sister recently broke her ankle (badly), free ambulance treatment and ride to the hospital. Free crutches from the hospital while they waited for the immediate swelling to subside before operating. Free surgery (titanium plates, pins etc), hospital room bill: Zero. Anesthetist bill: Zero. Doctors bill: Zero. Only out of pocket expenses she had was prescription painkillers after she was released, and they're heavily subsidised. She's getting physio now and I'm pretty sure the total cost of that is also: Zero.

And the pols who oppose and denounce it have NEVER offered any better tweaks or alternative plans, either while it was being debated or in all the years since it took effect. They got elected to solve problems, but do nothing to move in that direction.

I’m glad everyone is able to access health care but it’s sucks that we don’t have the infrastructure (is that the right word?) available to make it easy and reasonably quick for everyone who needs it. I feel like that’s actually an indication of a deeper medical system problem rather than an issue with socialist medical care itself, however.
American wait times work differently. If the treatment is not covered and you can't afford it, you'll just be waiting to die.

Canadian. Had leukemia. Immediately sent for treatment. In hospital 6weeks followed by 8ish months of out patient. Like above, main expense was I partially paid for parking. As to general wait times... I'd rather wait a bit to see a doctor that the US version of being left waiting to die.
I'm actually scared living here in America. If anyone in my family gets seriously ill, we might have to sell our house.
My wife has great Health Insurance in the USA. She has been over 1 year needing back surgery for compressed disk and spinal issues. Insurance company keeps making her jump through hoops. 2 Spinal Injections, 2 different specialist. 1 specialist took 4 months to get her first appointment for a 15 minute consult. Now she is bed ridden and in recliner except for doctor appts. FINALLY, she has keyhole back surgery next week, AMA is against socialized medicine because they won't be able to leave in McMansions driving matching BMW's.
100% that has been my experience with US healthcare. Wait time is atrocious. For different reasons than public systems, but just as bad.

American health care is horrible, especially if you can't afford health insurance. Health care should be a universal human right. Unfortunately, here in America, insurance companies make millions of dollars and they're not giving that up.
Unlike the US, governments are able to track performance closely in public systems, and routinely publish the data. What is this ‘failure of Obamacare’ that these a$$clowns think is common knowledge? I am a doctor in the USA and all I saw was more people getting affordable insurance and more preventative care.
Social health care in france: my surgery to repair my shattered wrist cost me €24 for 2 surgeries. When my kid had an asthma attack and we had to visit urgence in FRANCE, compared to the USA insistance my kid be admitted to the hospital for 3 days, and overdosed my kid on albuterol which required an out of network cardiologist to attend my kid, and the entire stay, after insurance cost $24k. The same symptoms at a French hospital, treated immediately cost us €15 with no OVERNIGHT stay, no overdose of d***s, no out of network doctors.
It's true that medical service has been degrading over years in some Western countries....but it's more a consequence of Governments trying to implement the US way, with harsh cuts on fundings...while our taxes have increased.
TBF they're also struggling with the fact that people are living much longer, and the treatments to keep them alive are much more expensive. When these health care systems were set up someone with a heart condition were made comfortable. Same with cancer sufferers. There were no triple bypass. No pacemaker. No chemotherapy. No transplants etc. Not saying those things shouldn't be covered, but it's ever more expensive.
Load More Replies... The US healthcare system does not have the advantages of a free market. Not that a true free market would be fair or right, but it would at least be more efficient. Instead, we have indirection resulting from the insurance companies making purchasing decisions instead of the people receiving the healthcare (free markets are driven by purchasing decisions), monopolies granted through d**g and medical device patents (which are intended to drive innovation, but surely there's a better way to accomplish that than to ensure that the innovation only benefits the rich), and a lack of transparency in pricing. Basically, if capitalist healthcare was going to have any advantage, we've ensured that it won't. Socialized healthcare wins hands down.
Obamacare is not a failure. I'm alive because of it and millions of Americans say the same thing.
So wish we had that, here. There are people whom, literally, don't go to see a med pro/doc, because they don't want to go into collections, due to ridiculously, exhorbitant bills, behind ailments as basic as a toothache.

Australian here, parking at hospitals is expensive, says me whose only expense was parking fees. Nail bed repair (hit it with a hammer) which I only had done because they insisted.
The USA can't afford to fund universal healthcare. It is spending trillions of dollars to lose wars all over the world.

We're getting to the point where having manners is "woke" because why be nice to people when you can be as rude as possible in the name of, I'm not sure what, patriotism or something? If some right wing podcaster decides it's a left wing thing to wear shoes, right wingers will stop wearing shoes. And then they'll look around and see that right wingers aren't wearing shoes while left wingers are, and that will cement wearing shoes as a left wing political statement.

Take the 30 million and redesign an old school or hotel into housing units. People need a place to live NOT a study on their circumstances.
These kind of posts are so annoying. It seems like all that's on here now is negative reddit posts (cheating, bad bosses, etc), upsetting political c**p, and bashing of other people. I want more of the good stuff. The cute animal posts, interesting science facts, funny memes. There used to be more positive stuff on here
