Have you ever scrolled through social media and stumbled upon a meme or funny cartoon that left you clueless, but your aunt and uncle were cracking up in the comment section? If so, you might have had a firsthand experience of "boomer humor."

These jokes are a subset of humor that revolves around the lives of the baby boomer generation, born between 1946 and 1964. Inspired by the unique aspects of growing up during that time, some find these outdated jokes cringeworthy, while others find them amusing.

Take a look at these witty posts collected by the team at Bored Panda and let us know which one tickles your funny bone.

In order to understand the true essence of these posts, let's explore the history of the baby boomer generation. While facing great uncertainty and hardship during the period of 1946-1964, many couples in the United States had put a hold on starting a family.

In the aftermath of conquering these challenges, people were ready to have kids as they believed that the future would be filled with happiness and success. Families started growing faster than ever before – giving birth to the baby boom generation! The US alone welcomed 76 million bundles of joy during this time.

During this era, labor unions promised higher salaries, businesses were booming, and new consumer goods were hitting the market shelves. In short, people were living the dream. With prosperity came change as families started heading to the suburbs for a better life.

As corporations kept growing, the markets were filled with more affordable products. Cars, home appliances, TVs – you name it, they had it. Parents wanted to give their families all the material things they couldn’t have.

Many adults had started buying things like washing machines and refrigerators. They had unknowingly become a part of the consumer economy. In fact, businesses started targeting the millions of relatively affluent boomer children with their marketing efforts.

For instance, kids were buying mouse-ear hats after watching the Disney show and barbie dolls and Elvis Presley records and so much more. A Life magazine article from 1958 proclaimed that children were a “built-in recession cure.”

I saw a bumper sticker once that said "I have a perfect body. But it's in the trunk and starting to smell."

Once the boomers approached adolescence, some of them started having different thoughts about consumerism. Something began to shift as these restless teenagers questioned the status quo and craved something more. And thus, the youth counterculture movement was born.

This generation was a part of a lot of significant movements like the Civil Rights Movement, the protest against the Vietnam War, and the second wave of feminism. Motivated by a desire for equality, justice, and peace, they advocated for fairness, freedom, and inclusivity. They witnessed various challenges, including economic shifts, technological advancements, and some of the most important societal changes in modern history.

Their humor often reflects the values and challenges they faced, focusing on dad jokes, outdated references, and tales of "back in my day" adventures. Whether you are millennials or Gen Zers, these baby boomer jokes can certainly make you smile with their simplicity.

Mostly...but deer populations need to be controlled enough that they don't all get hit by cars or over-breed and starve. With so few wolves around, there's not much else to keep deer in check.

Where I live the deer population is higher than it was in the 1700's. No natural predators mild winters, and plenty of food is resulting in an exploding population - and a lot of car accidents as a consequence. I don't think I could shoot a deer - even though I was once frighteningly challenged by a buck a couple of years ago, but something does need to be done to control the population. Also, a car that hits a deer is likely to be totaled but even more heartbreaking is the sight of an injured deer on the side of the road waiting to be put out of it's misery, I have seen this many times and it never gets easier.

Indeed, I find no fun in hunting animals for no reason.

In my part of the world (Wisconsin) deer hunting is sort of a necessity to keep populations balanced. Without any natural predators the deer population would otherwise swing back and forth between massive booms in population causing overgrazing and massive dieoffs from starvation and/or disease. We're essentially taking the place of wolves in the ecosystem.

Gotta say here folks- deer, elk and other herd animals that hunters cull die a much more humane death than starvation from lack of food due to people encroaching on their natural territories. Not trophy hunting but using it for food is very good for the animals honestly.

My BIL hunts and fishes pretty much anything and everything year round to help supplement their food source. They are on a tight income, live in a very rural area and it's several miles to the nearest city, so they have to plan their shopping trips very carefully. Other than that they have a bartering system with their neighbors and farms that are the closest to them. Both of my nieces were raised and taught how to hunt, field dress and fish at a very early age. Cheyenne is amazing with a Bow and Arrow and if you hand Gina a fishing pole, that girl can catch anything. They have 2 huge freezers and cook and bake everything from scratch to save money. My Sister Suzie takes after our Mom the most when it comes to the kitchen and taught the girls the same way we were raised. Mom also taught us about sales, coupons and how to make a penny scream which has saved ALL of our a*s.I absolutely LOVE to go visit them and probably gain 5 lbs every time I go down there to see them. 😁😍

These always irk me. Not teaching kids kursive and not having a rotary phone and then giving them s**t. Like it's their fault. If no one had taught us cursive, we wouldn't know how to read it either, and wouldn' t have begged others to teach it to us in our free time.

I do, too. Because it deprives those that don't have that high a paying job from having one at all. Shareholder value has come first since 50 years straight by now, and it shows. And it shouldn't.

Oh look, a somewhat funny and affectionate slice-of-like cartoon about middle-aged suburban kink can be turned into anti-"woke" culture war boorishness with the simple addition of a couple of dates. For an added effect, cut off the original artist's signature and add your own.
