Exactly! Or at least try for similar colours like a black shirt and a dark blue shirt if you can't match exactly!

This is what is so special about kids. They don't see the stupid things adults do that make them hate others. They are blind to color religion politics and so on. Wish everyone acted like this. The world we be a much better place.

I have a rescue dog who is still socializing...I usually tell potential "petters" not to pet him, but he responds nicely to friendly voices. One day, these 2 women and a young boy saw him (he's a cute boxer/chihuahua) and the little guy wanted to pet him. My doggo showed no tension or stress, but I picked him up just to be safe) and told the boy his name (Rocky Balboa) and to say hi to him, but please don't pet him. He stood there. And very slowly he lightly held Rocky's paw and said, "Nice to meet you, Rocky" and let go. Rocky wagged his tail in response! We're getting there!

I have a pitbull who is just absolutely ridiculous when it comes to wanting to greet everyone and get pets. She gets very hyper and, unfortunately even after training, is VERY jumpy. People either absolutely love it or are TERRIFIED. I just laugh at those people and say "she literally wants to be your best friend, sorry".

I think hyperbole is an acceptable way to make a social network post have a certain lighthearted cynicism. It’s also not uncommon for a period of negative mental health to last twenty years. Double punctuation is less acceptable than either of those.

According to Klapow, we humans believe we’re constantly surrounded by negativity because we are trained to pay more attention to it — "bad often means danger." The psychologist told Bored Panda that from a survival perspective, it is important to be dialed into anything dangerous.

"As we have evolved, 'survival' becomes more complex. As a result, relationship breakups, lost fortunes, stealing, corruption, etc. all are associated with survival, and so we are drawn to it."

This explains why it’s so easy for us to focus just on the negatives. In fact, this instinctual drive to seek out the scary, the awful, and the alarming has a name. It’s called negativity bias and it means that we’re more likely to register and dwell on negative thoughts and experiences than positive or neutral ones. We are even inclined to focus on the pessimistic aspects when they are rather insignificant.

And it's no secret that online hostility can feel overwhelming. Just think about the news and comments about the political turmoil, the looming economic crisis, and the bottomless supply of information that only adds more fuel to our inner chaos — it's hard to stay resilient to negativity.

According to Verywell Mind, this bias leads to remembering traumatic experiences better than positive ones, recalling insults better than praise, reacting more strongly to negative stimuli, and responding more strongly to negative events than to equally positive ones. This tendency to pay more attention to bad things and overlook good things helped keep humans alive in the past, but we don’t really need to fear for our safety as much in the modern world.

So to lead a more fulfilling life, we must gain back control over how we perceive this tendency. We need to become aware of how our brains get so wary and try to put things in perspective to see that it’s usually not as tragic as we think.

My mother had dementia. She was a huge fan of Johnny Cash. I can safely say my father was not a fan of Johnny Cash. My mother would sit at the kitchen table with my father. He realized she would respond to music so, he bought a bunch of VHS tapes of Johnny Cash and would play them all day long for her. She would brighten up and sing to most of them. He never complained about having to listen. He was just happy he found something that could make her smile.

My Pop-Pop had dementia and was also a Johnny Cash fan. The nursing home staff played Johnny Cash for him non-stop in the last few days before he passed. I am so happy he he left this world listening to his all-time favorite.. 😊

I was on the ferry, with my GF, having an .... animated..... discussion about arithmatic, (We got together through my trying to teach her "Maths.") I didn't notice the two tourists who came to look out of the window, as I said to my GF, "Division is just backwards Multiplication!" Later one of them came back and said that his father had demensia. He had been an accountant, and had heard me. He had said "He's right," and that that had triggered a "Good Day" and had brought him back to life, for a bit. The son was so gratefull for my stupid, casual remark, so I am glad that I said it.

I think music is wired differently in humans brains to be way more influential then we think it is. It can get through when nothing else can, we can identify a song from just a few notes, and some fan even predict where a tune is going without having heard it before. Its really impressive how much effect music has on humans

Music does the same for me. I don't have concrete memories but I do get a strong deja vu-like sense of memory. I also get the same sense when the light outside is a certain way. It's hard to explain but it happens quite often.

If you have never seen the video of the former ballerina who now suffers from dementia, please watch. It is proof positive that this is true. Once she heard the music for Swan Lake, she began going through the motions again. Beautiful.

I've had something similar happen in an MMORPG I used to play. One day a buddy of mine just stopped logging on, thought he quit, but about a year or so later I saw a few people saying they couldn't believe it had been a year since he died. My stomach definitely fell through the floor. He was a great guy

That happened to my late mum, but the other way round. Her little hairy brown dog, a Griffon, stretched his lead while she was in a toilet stall and crept under the wall into the next one. There was a loud scream of "A RAT!" followed by more screams form other stalls. My mum quietly pulled the dog back and sneaked out, not pausing to wash her hands.

My grandparents were already great grandparents when I was born, because my dad was an oops baby born when they were 46 & 47, so I was literally the baby of the cousins who were all grown by the time I came along. I was spoiled beyond belief and my grandma would do things like this for me. Being the only girl might have also added to them overindulging me a bit.

Speaking of the challenge of keeping ourselves positive online, Klapow noted that following uplifting and upbeat sources is like having a balanced meal. "It’s critical for our mental health. Make sure you have at least some information streams that are automatic and positive coming at you." After all, optimism and happiness are contagious. It’s important to surround yourself with cheerful people, both in the real and the digital world, who can help you unwind from unfortunate events happening today.

However, we all need to strive to stay rounded and well-informed citizens, and turning a blind eye to the negativities in the world won’t make them any brighter. In a bid to broaden our horizons while keeping sanity intact, one thing is crucial — balancing out the content we consume.

"Social media is a 'filterless' landing place," Klapow said. "We are free to express as much pent-up anger, frustration, vitriol, sadness, stress, etc., that we have in our lives." You can essentially say whatever you want online — whether it’s objectively true or not, kind or cruel — and not really have a price to pay for doing so.

However, Klapow said this approach fuels a toxic, negative sea of information and perspectives. "Keeping ourselves more positive is a matter of training ourselves to do so."

"A simple strategy is to take any comment you place online and before you post it read it aloud (not in your head, aloud)," Klapow advised. If you strive to be more optimistic in general, the psychologist suggested trying this exercise. "For one week at the end of the day, write down 5 things that went well that day. Force yourself to get 5. They can be small (i.e. it was nice weather), or big (I got a promotion). But do 5."

"Doing this at the end of the day helps you go to bed on an optimistic note, and it begins to train your brain to concentrate more on the positive aspects of your life," Klapow concluded.

And cake. Technically, you can look up a recipe, buy ingredients and make an entire home-baked cake *For no reason*. And also whip real cream with vanilla and sugar. You can have warm cake, and whip cream, and no one will stop you.

I'm really hoping this guy has survived because that cancer sounds terrible, viz Leiomyosarcoma, or LMS, is a type of rare cancer that grows in the smooth muscles. The smooth muscles are in the hollow organs of the body, including the intestines, stomach, bladder, and blood vessels. In females, there is also smooth muscle in the uterus. These smooth muscle tissues help move blood, food, and other material through the body and work without you being aware. LMS is an aggressive cancer, which means it can grow quickly. LMS is found most often in the abdomen or in the uterus

Leiomyosarcoma is probably the worst, fastest growing cancer I've ever heard of. My friend got it in her uterus when she was 44. They thought it was a fibroid. Removed it, found the cancer, but the cancer hadn't spread. She did chemo. In 2 months it was in her lungs and bones. Six months after her diagnosis when it hadn't spread anywhere, she died. It's an awful, awful cancer that didn't respond to anything for her. I hope this gentleman had a better outcome.

Doesn't seem like it. His last post on reddit was a year ago (2 years after this roastme post though) and he mentioned that despite chemo the tumors were still growing. Still he did go quiet for 2 years only to randomly pop on again one day so maybe he will resurface again.

"Unusual for Leomyosarcoma to be located on the FACE." I get the wholesomeness, but people come to r/RoastMe to get roasted, and to refuse to do that because of their condition is kind of patronizing. Literally everyone he meets is all, "you're a brave hero!," he wants to be ripped up for once

This was me on roastme (in essence, not as in "this is SPECIFICALLY me making that comment). If they even remotely looked sad, depressed, or their bio stated they were going through some s**t, I just couldn't bring myself to offer them the sharp side of my tongue. Save that for the Chads and Karens out there trying to cosplay as nihilists.

You know how many big dudes I've seen get out of big trucks with silly, little, fuffy, white dogs? So many. I thought for a while it must've become a meme. Maybe we only started to notice it because we have a silly, little, fluffy, white dog, but it's my giant of a husband who starts patting at me excitedly and pointing for me to look. He cuddles her every night while he watches television.

One of the most homicidal and maniacal pets I ever owned was a 6" Cockatiel called Bobby - he'd think nothing of attacking anyone who came to visit and when we got a rescue dog (Jack Russell x Collie - very active) he would constantly attack him, to the point that he lost his tail feathers a couple of times as he wasn't quick enough ; eventually, for the sake of my sanity, a friend of mine said he'd take him on as he had a large, heated aviary outside his place ; he led a long and happy life after that although he would still pretend to like you if you called him, land on your shoulder then take a chunk out of your ear before flying off squawking loudly - little git !!

You hardly ever see one of my cats, Sundae, because she's scared of literally everything especially humans and loud noises (we rescued her from a household that...didn't really treat her well. she has trauma.) so she'll go and hide under the bed BUT on the rare occasion that she feels brave enough to let you pet her, the one on the right is the exact face she makes and it just makes me so happy 🤗

She's not a new cat either, we've had her for years and she still doesn't trust any of us. Though sometimes, on good days, she'll come and sleep on my bed. Then I breath and she runs away, she's the definition of "scaredy cat" but that's not the point. I LOVE HER SO MUCH

Tbf, the groomer did shave a heart. Pretty sure left corgi grew out their fur to make the bump when the rest of the coat was trimmed.

Unfortunately Welsh corgi’s tails are docked (cut off) a few days after birth to meet American Kennel Club standards for the breed

They look better without makeup, every time, they don’t need to feel insecure about the acne or whatever it is they are covering, makeup never ever looks better than the real person

This is a good example of "toxic positivity". You mean well, but you're inadvertently insulting/invalidating anyone who does like to wear makeup. No need to put down others to kift others up (i say this as someone who is comfortable in both makeupe and bare face)

Yeah, but does Khajiit keep all their wares in a random rock in Dawnstar? (for context, in Skyrim, all of the Khajiit traders have their inventory in a random stone that's situated next to the mine entrance in Dawnstar. You can take anything you want from it, and it's not considered stealing.)

Fun Fact: You actually ARE more attractive than you look in pictures. And here is why - First, as shown in the picture above, is the lens distortion. A good photographer knows how to minimize and compensate for this, but most pictures deal with this problem. Second is flattening errors. Taking a 3d object and representing it in 2d causes further distortions. Fourth is the 'mirror issue'. You are used to only ever seeing yourself in a mirror, where left and right are reversed. So when you look at a picture of yourself, it looks vaguely 'wrong' because its flipped from what you are used to. And last, people are living things. No matter how hard you try, you can never remain perfectly still. But a picture is unmoving. That also creates a sense of 'wrongness' when looking at it. You Expect it to move. All together, these things make you think you look much worse in photos than you actually do.

A focal length of 35mm or shorter is wide-angle. This causes the image to spherize. Focal length that most closely matches the human eye is 50mm.

My life went to hell that year and lasted for 7 years. I'm doing much better, so I'm glad the world didn't end. But I was kinda disappointed back then.

(TW s3lf h@rm) there was also one that my sister saw that was "Where should I cut myself next?" and the answer just spelled "D O N ' T."

Wow, Onion Cutting Ninja was downvoted into a ban for mistaking the user name in the post for the title of the subreddit... worse every day really

You do understand that getting a comment hidden is not the same thing as being banned, right? You can look at their profile; they are very much NOT banned. Despite what trolls may tell you, it takes a LOT of downvotes to be banned. You have to be a toxic troll putting effort into trying to get banned for that to happen.

Plot twist: the first post is from the second poster's mom. There is Reddit in the afterlife.

I am Polish and it's true. Mostly due to incredible job did by translator Bartosz Wierzbięta who not only translated dialogues but also localised the jokes to be more appealing to Polish audience :) same reason why Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra is so popular here :)

Don't forget dubbing - the actors did a top notch job as well! Probably the only film which I prefer to watch in Polish instead of the original.

Not really. Pewdiepie has raised lots of money for charity (over 1 million dollars), and he’s genuinely changing the world. Sure, the way he did it is unconventional but you can’t deny him that.

Pewdiepie is deeply problematic with misogynist and racist tendencies. Maybe it's best not to be like him.
