Baby photoshoots might seem like a walk in a park, but that can not be farther from the truth. Yes, we agree that babies are cute and adorable, but try to put your snot-nosed, shrieking and wriggling bundle of joy into the right position for a cute baby picture. Suddenly, a walk in a park turns into a ride on the highway to hell.
And Pinterest with the gorgeous ideas and perfectly executed photos of cute babies might trick you into taking the splendidly staged baby pictures yourself. But it's easy to forget the amount of hard work, good luck, digital wizardry and skill that goes into creating a perfect photograph, especially when the subject is babies.

Pumpkin guts totally burn my skin so I wonder if that is why some of the babies are crying. I would have a rash all over from sitting in a pumpkin. Some of my kids react too.
You definitely have to make sure they are not touching the actual pumpkin though... it is highly acidic

I did, too! I had been carving a huge pumpkin and she crawled over to look inside. Just for the heck of it, I sat her inside and she loved it. Along came our cat, solid black, to sit beside the pumpkin and watch my daughter giggling. Was the most perfect Halloween picture ever!

This kind of stuff drives me absolutely crazy! Your kid is NOT an ornament or a prop. She/he is not a decoration for your home. Just stop.
It's bad enough we force little kids into costumes they don't want to wear for Halloween (at an age they can't even reap the benefits and eat the candy!) then make them wear ridiculous, uncomfortable attire for holidays (a toddler with a necktie...come on) but to put them through the torture of a photo shoot sitting inside a GD PUMPKIN, please. You aren't doing this for your family, you are doing it for your Pinterest account.

Pumpkin guts can be acidic. I know it burns my skin a bit. And that's probably not comfortable for the baby. Pumpkins are cold.
I believe the pumpkin is supposed to be lined. I'm thinking they skipped that part.

People must realize that hands under chin #10 always is done as a composite. NEVER try this without supporting the baby's head. You can really hurt the baby.
idk, some of these border child abuse. Why insist on taking a pic if your kid is visibly upset?
Most of these parents waited too long. You need to do this in the first... not quite sure...six? weeks, when they are still sleeping so much and so deeply. And that's why these are all done by professional photographers who are not the parents. Parents are wayyyy too tired those first weeks to stage a complicated photoshoot. :-) Fantastic post, though. I really laughed a lot!
What's with the food-fails? The last three were inappropriate for this site. Sad to say it happens too often.
Everyone needs to realize that the first ones are taken by professional photographers that took hundreds of pictures to get just the right one. They weren't taken by your smart phone in your kitchen!
It takes patients and understanding to do dis kinda job.... which so fun to do
Oh I don't like the hammock or the bowl of gumballs. Those are awful. You stuffed your baby in a bowl with a bunch of rock hard balls. Look at the feet! No wonder the babe is upset!
A lot of the 'sleeping babies' are actually dolls ... Not sure why a parent would think an actual baby would work lol ... it's a doll for a reason.

Seems like a lot of these are parents who didn't take the time to actually try to arrange the kids in normal (well, photo "normal") positions. And what is the weird obsession with putting kids inside of bowls, mugs, and fruits? Super creepy!
