Your argument is not contrary to what I'm saying, it's validating - if you close all manned checkouts but have watchers for self-checkouts, it just doesn't compute. Get the watcher to man the regular checkout, or as you said, get a manager to cover the regular checkout. I'm not saying she's right to make him do the work, I'm saying someone was meant to be doing that work from the beginning

I asked why and she said "I don't know how you did it, but the method you used was wrong but you got the correct answer". Even after proving the method, she wouldn't back down. Mind you, it was a means to an end, it was a partial answer to get to the main part of the question, so it wasn't meant to be a question meant to test your method...
