Entering the 5th year since my first diagnosis, after 5 years you can be considered cancer-free. And ready to get another, like everybody else! Seriously, curing "cancer" is not about a solutions that's good for every cancer. There are so many types, so many different behaviors, what works for one type of cell does not work for another.

100% agree. Lost my stepdad 4 years ago to stage 4 metastatic cancer. He was gone within a year from his diagnosis. Thankfully he was able to be at my wedding. Also lost an old boss who meant a lot to me to brain cancer. And now my uncle, the youngest of my moms siblings, is fighting cancer. We find out tomorrow if it has spread past his throat or not.
Hate to be the resident cynic here, and I agree that cancer sucks and needs to go away, but there is WAY too much money in people being sick for that to ever happen.
You can rest assured there's a cure but as long as big pharma is allowed to make trillions from treatment, we'll never see the cure for that or anything else. My son was delivering some equipment to a hospital up north and they had some big mach9one for cancer treatment. $110M each and they have 10 of them. So big the machine is set in place and the building is then built around it. Nothing but a money scam. Ever notice the people doing the research never contract what they're researching? They know and have the cure.
I would argue dementia before cancer. The loss of the self would be far more devastating, imo.
Don’t understand why this is downvote worthy. Anyone that’s ever watched a loved one go through this decline would understand just how devastating it is. In part due to the amount of time the patient spends knowing they are losing this part of themselves and nothing can be done. I’ve witnessed family and friends and my memory issues amongst other issues has my doctors monitoring me for early onset. It’s a terrible disease and robs everyone involved of the person they love without the possibility of relief.

Housing should primarily be in the hands of the state, not private companies. Private companies can play a role in the higher segments of housing, but everyone should be able to live under a roof.

Fentanyl. I had an 18 year old niece who died from taking a pill she thought was a painkiller, but it was fentanyl and she was gone in 20 minutes. Her "friends" did nothing to help her. Nobody was charged for her death even though they knew who the drug dealer was.
Talk to your kids about fentanyl! No family should have to go through this nightmare.

BP is on this list for me in 2024. I have loved it for some years, but 2023 has been close to depressing reading the comments section. It used to reliably be a beautiful, supportive community that encouraged diverse views while not tolerating hate. There's happier places to be. Wishing you all well.

One thing I've learnt from this is a lot of people need to spend less time online/on their phone and they'd be a lot happier, LOL.
The problem with this is spending time on the internet is usually very cheap and easy compared to other forms of entertainment so to a certain point the worse off you are the more time you spend on it and this just spirals or they are on break at work so already in a negative space.
