This Canadian Artist Makes Incredible Sculptures Out Of Driftwood, Seashells, Dried Mushrooms And More (38 New Pics)
Debra Bernier is a talented artist from Canada who makes incredible sculptures out of driftwood as well as other natural materials, such as seashells, dried mushrooms, roots, bones, crystals and so much more.
According to the artist, the earth, the ocean and even the moon, with their effects on the tides, play a role in shaping the wood that floats on the waters. For this reason, the sculptor considers herself only a co-creator of her works. Through her creations, she seeks to reveal the hidden past and spirit of the wood. Thus, she hopes to highlight the unity of human beings with nature.

I love this! Would go perfectly in my collection of weird, eccentric items 😍
Amazing & very life like, yet appears both alive & dead at the same time! WOW! Love her work!
Oh come Angel bands, come and around me stand....old Hym from Methodist Church. So beautiful!!!
Wow so very real looking and someone familiar also...I can't quite place who but an actress I believe.
Another sleeping old soul. Such beautiful face work, looks so very real....!
I love this one. It makes me think of an ancient guardian of the woods.
.. that's exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it 🙂👍
Load More Replies...I'd love it if I was walking through the woods and came upon something like this on a tree. Sort of Game of Thrones/your average fairytale look about it.
Beautiful! (Also, this is how I feel when I take an aspirin but don’t drink enough water.)
Simply gorgeous! This is one of my personal favourites out of the pieces you have shared.
Now that, is a wood nymph! Wow simply Amazing and breath taking!!!
Really lovely. She makes me think of forest nymph from Greek mythology.
Beautiful, but sad just a bit...maybe waiting for her Prince to come kiss her awake???
Old woman of the Sea bottom, I fear. Beautiful and so old but still color in her cheeks as though she may speak at any moment...!
Can you work off of a photograph or are all of these simply complete inspired by your imagination?
Lovely! I like the sweet little snail crawling along her face.
I really like the older face as much as the younger ones because I was raised by my grandmother a lot growing up while my single mother worked 2 jobs.
the tear breaks my heart, it feels like there's a story behind this one
Wow. How I feel everyday as I pray for Mama Earth and all of life that lives, here with us, God's children. The lone wolf's cry is so sad & her 😢 too...amazing wood work!!!
I want to say something about this one but I can't even find the words ...
Really gorgeous work! The uncarved portion of the wood reminds me of ocean waves.
I'd like it better if it was just the bear face. The human face is creepy.
Looks like the top part of the photo was cropped. Wish we could see all of it!
Oh my goodness, a beautiful little mermaid ! 🧜♀️ I just love the little peeps.
The uplifting look of the background (spectacular looking place btw) makes this piece look a bit creepy. Full support for the works but this one just ain't for me I guess
So connected, as they say we are to our mother's and grandmother's through their eggs inside of them.
Kinda reminds me of my deceased mother-in-law. (Yes, we got along great. I tended to her for 7 years after her stroke.)
Every single one of these is beautiful and brilliantly executed. Kudos.
These were all incredibly beautiful. They make me think of goddesses and gods of the woods and ocean. Thank you for sharing.
When I lived in Pennsylvania, there was a tree in my neighborhood that was very textured--it looked as though there were a woman leaning against it. These remind me of that tree!
