Women Are Sharing The Most Obscene Things They’ve Done While ‘Under The Influence Of Hormones’
290Kviews
“Sandra is really moody today; she must be on her rags.” These kind of comments are still really common, and not very helpful. The stereotypes about a woman being guided solely by her raging hormones - unable to regulate her own behavior and a bit 'crazy' at certain times of the month - have long been used as an excuse to denigrate women in general and are scientifically well off the mark.
However, hormone balances do play a role in our behavior. According to a Guardian interview with evolutionary scientist Martie Haselton, “Our hormones don’t make us crazy, they don’t make us irrational. They nudge us.” That nudge can lead to some pretty unreasonable ideas, as many women themselves are quite happy to admit!
Twitter user "Twinks" decided to share her story recently and asked others to do the same. “What completely irrational things you have done while being under the influence of hormones?” The responses are both painfully relatable and rather funny.

Hormonal by Martie Haselton is an in-depth book about women’s hormones and their effects. Continuing with her interview in the Guardian, she says that everybody is hormonal, and it all comes down to one primary urge. "It makes perfect sense that our biology is designed this way," she says.
"Hormones are signals generated by our brains and glands associated with reproduction in our bodies. The bottom line of evolution is reproduction. We may choose not to reproduce now, and we may have control over that now, but there were millennia where that was the dictating force behind the design of our brains and bodies."
When asked about the previous ignorance about the impact of hormones on women, Martie said the controlled scientific standards were partly to blame.
"One reason is that scientists were content for many decades with studying the male as the default sex, and that was in part because women had cycles that made them messy," she explained. "If you are doing a scientific experiment, you don’t want noise, you don’t want variation, you want everything to be strictly controlled.
Some examples of hormones acting up include the odours of attraction when a woman is ovulating. “Samples of tampons collected near ovulation were rated as more attractive then samples collected during any other point in the cycle,” Haselton writes, noting that many animals emit attractive odours to beckon mates when fertile.
Haselton also debunks the myth about menstrual cycles 'synching' when women live together. "The reason that it’s so easy to think that menstrual synchrony exists in humans is because “normal” cycles among a group of women can easily overlap – and appear to converge,” she explains.
Check out Haselton's book for more fascinating information about this important, but misunderstood topic, and enjoy the rest of the stories!
Being vegetarian is difficult normally, never mind with raging hormones. Girl, if you want chicken, you deserve it!
My thanks to you and the poster. I needed hat good laugh you two just gave me.
Load More Replies...My not at that time ex came home drunk.passed out cold across the bed. I removed his boots and painted his toenails bright red. I had dyed my hair that day and there was just a bit of Roma Brown left in the bottle. I got it out of the trash carefully slipped his jeans and underwear down and turned his very blonde short and curlies dark brown then carefully pulled pants up. Put his socks and boots back on and tied his boot laces together. Then I left.got in my car and drive to a girlfriend's house. Called the house at 6am and hung up when he answered cussing and growling like a bear. I didn't say a word. He evidently went and got drunk again after work ( Yes he went!) . Got in a bar fight went to jail. Had to change into jumpsuit and sandals....poor guy was popular in jail!
My ex accused me of being a back-stabbing b---- because he didn't get a job that I had ZERO to do with that outcome. So, I slashed all of his dress shirts down the back, packed and left.
I heard worse. A cheating husband crotch got cut out of all his pants.
I would sit in silence, sew the toes back on and tell you to get your shit and get out.
I was an first trimester, looked at falling leaves at autumn. One leaft was blown away and ended up all alone on a roof. I cried my eyes out for the poor little one. 😂

As a woman with hormonal issues, I feel that alot of these women are using it as an excuse to abuse men..you can control yourself when it comes to doing physical petty things like cutting toes off socks or throwing things out the window. It's just an excuse to act abusive and get away with it in my opinion. While I can decide whether something will make me angry or sad, i can decide what I do about it. If someone actually can't control themselves to that extent then they seriously have some issues that are not connected to raging hormones
I also have hormonal issues and I completely agree with you. Not being able to control your emotional response is understandable, but breaking stuff and what not is not acceptable. Damaging your partner's possessions is an abuse tactic.
They might be; please read my reply to Dave C (top comment)
Well you obviously don’t suffer from really bad hormone swings then !! What you have just said is not at all justified in any way . Woman with bad pms have no idea how to control it !
I'm sorry, but that's insulting to any grown woman. You're saying that bad mood swings give you a right and justifies destructive and abusive behavior towards men? We're human and we have free will, so unless you have a mental disability and you cannot control yourself, you have no excuse for that behavior. It's called immaturity in my books

It's not always possible to control yourself. I would just be standing there outside myself,in total disbelief, unable to stop, being so totally unreasonable. It took getting off birth control pills, then getting my thyroid removed, then getting on an anti depressant, then finishing menopause, with each step more in control. Now all I have to deal with is depression. I do still occasionally get PTSD- like flashbacks though.
Most of these people sound awful but i find it really strange that people are finding their actions funny and are applauding them. Just reverse the roles and u’ll get the perfect scenario of an abusive relationship. I think such kind of behaviours should not be brushed off by labelling them as ‘hormonal actions’ and definitely should not be cheered or applauded.
Hormonal changes are a real thing. I for one, can not control my emotions at that time even if my life depended on it. You have to be in our shoes to understand what happens during that time. I get crazy and I am very aware of it, but I can’t help it. We don’t like feeling that way either.
Hi, please do not take any of my comments as some sarcastic point, i’m completely serious. You should get yourself evaluated if not done already, the differential diagnosis of PMS are mood disorders, thyroid disorders and underlying major psychiatric disorder. If you think that you can not control your emotions even if your life depends on it then please and get yourself checked, I seriously doubt that it is just a case of PMS (I am a medical graduate from the largest hospital in India and currently studying for the Unites States Medical Licensing Exam, all of the above information is from Up-to-date which is considered to be the gold standard in terms of medical education. I would say that u should read the topic from there but u’ll need to pay for the registration or u have to register through an University which has been already registered.) Thanks.

My husband was a violent man...he used to hit me for silly reasons....I used to release my anger out by dipping his toothbrush in the toilet everytime he hit me.I used to happily give him his morning coffee after he had brushed his teeth. Now we are not together because I moved as I couldn't take his beatings anymore.Just walk out of violence..Revenge doesn't help.
"Now we are not together because I moved ..." - Good for you! Happy to read that. I wish you all the best and hope that you'll find someone (or already did) that treats you better and with love!

These are silly and idiotic. I have recently been hormonal and my husband has been a t*** to me, admittedly exacerbated by my hormonal state. I actually hated him for significant chunks of time this weekend. But... all his belongings remain in tact, because I'm not a dick.

Must be nice. When you have real hormonal issues, it's not that easy or even possible and is in fact a form of mental illness. Be grateful you won't have to deal with the memories and guilt that can come with serious hormonal issues. Just because you are fortunate to have normal hormone difficulties, doesn't mean everyone else is.
Some of these are funny and some are just really depressing situations.
It's so unsatisfying to not know how some of those continued or ended up. - Personally I can relate to a lot of those. Wife got three times pregnant (don't know how that happened) and now she's going through menopause. I have seen a lot over the years. My advise - Don't try to argue in that very moment and stay calm. After the storm is over, usually everything will be good again. If it's too irrational, don't try to understand it or to find logic in it. Just live with it. As a partner that is. I learned to live with it over the years and know how to handle it. I guess that is the good thing if you know someone for many years.

With depression, I had to learn how to suppress such hormonal nudges. Or they'll never stop coming and will take over my life eventually.
I wanted to make a delicious apple pie and in my hormone-induced state accidentally used salt instead of sugar (they really look too much alike). As soon as I noticed my mistake I started crying hysterically because I felt like a complete failure for ruining it. I don't even really like pie.

Wow. Comments section is extra judgie today.
Nope, for once they are pretty right.Moral of the story:don't be an asshole, and when you are, apologize.Dont blame it on your hormones
Got into an argument with my now ex husband on valentines, he brought me roses (I dislike roses) and I put them down the garbage disposal. Another time, I called my cable company and was yelling at the CS agent and spelled P-I-S-S-E-D while screaming about how angry I was!!! lol I was not pregnant, just hormonal.
I was at the grocery store and was hungry, 30 weeks pregnant in the summer, and really not feeling happy about being in the store. Got to the Checker and this store makes you bag your own groceries. Lost it, completely lost it. Sobbed that I just cant, why do they not pay someone to bag them, who will load them? It was my husbands first child, and he came sprinting from a few lanes over to do it all while I ate in line.
I am crying with laughter as I can relate to so many of these hormonal episodes. They change you so completely; at times you can barely recognise yourself. My husband can relate too. Meds helped me enormously. Don't want advice or judgment, it is what it is. Laugh out loud at yourself, in hindsight it feels so good !
Okay, for someone that went through mentalpause....I related to ALL of these. How utterly hysterical. Just what I needed today. Thank you!!!

I have horrible PMS. For me that’s the time when I go from angel to devil and I really start to question my character. My dreams during that time are also affected. One night I dreamt that my then, boyfriend cheated on me. I woke up next to him and hit him so hard, he jumped out of bed. I must’ve yelled at him for about an hour. I was so furious. I remember not talking to him for the whole day after.
How about 77 irrational things men do when hormonal? I’ll kick off: World War 1
Don't joke about that
Jack, Si wasn’t joking about it. Your inclination to take anything as a joke simply reflects how immature you are. Si was just showing that when males are emotional and hormonal, actual catastrophes that impact millions of people occur. Look at the death toll that happened in all wars (and all wars were started by emotional males), how many rapes happened, cases of theft, etc. So when women are hormonal or emotional, at least no actual, severe harm is happening.
Women didnt have a voice when those wars happened. Obvious it was a guy.
This comment is hidden. Click here to view.
1/ A reminder (especially to the few clear misogynists around here): males, most of them, are extremely emotional, to the point of not being able to get a grip over themselves. Examples? Throughout history, and to this day, so many males abuse women and children (physically, emotionally or psychologically)—and it is happening all over the world (google it), even though it is not difficult to simply leave a dysfunctional relationship; mass shootings are committed by males who are so emotional they arrogantly, with a complete lack of intellect, decided to end random people’s lives; who starts wars? Males who lack the intellect and strength to contain their emotions, so they arrogantly decide to destroy millions of people’s lives, closing businesses in the process, as well as schools and universities get closed; gangs are mostly always male, especially the very active gangs that kidnap and mutilate; ‘road rage’ that some emotional males experience did get people killed, too.
This comment is hidden. Click here to view.
2/ Not to mention that there wouldn’t have been any cases related to sexual harassment or sexual assault, if all males had the manhood and intellect to contain their emotions. Sexual assault is a severely traumatizing situation that almost all females went through some form of because of some rabid, emotional male. Even science proved that it can make the victim deal with PTSD, so ‘Shawn’ and ‘Jack’ (who’ve been commenting on the above post) should first call abusers of their male gender the word ‘bitch’ for abusing others so severely, before they childishly get ever so quick to call a woman that word. The ways that males have proved themselves to be psychotically emotional is far greater than the ways that the women in this article have mentioned, especially since the ones that the women mentioned are so minuscule when compared to the countless cases of severe trauma that the psychotic males’ extreme abuse of women and children throughout history (and to this day), have caused.
You are so stupid it hurts.
3/ And to the actual men out there, who do have the intellect, self respect and manhood to respect people’s rights (so they don’t harass, abuse, assault, rape, murder anyone, and they treat people with respect and kindness), your existence is much appreciated.

To be fair a lot of these are not really hormonal, more about being married to complete idiots who should feel lucky they are still alive. I mean, how spiteful can some of those husbands get?
If the roles were reversed, then these would be abusive relationships! But if they are women, it's All FINE. I understand pmt and hormones, but the fact the these "idiot" husband's or boyfriend's are put in the wrong is offputting to me

"are scientifically well off the mark" proceeds to give 77 examples of how it is in fact, on the mark
ima save this for the next time my gf has her period
First, please read my reply to Dave C. ( top comment)

You can see why so many of the stories involve ex husbands and boyfriends.
