If you think you take too much time to get ready in the morning, wait till you meet this young woman who dresses to impress in a very unusual way. Mila Povoroznyuk from Ukraine, who is known to her fans as your_sunny_flowers, has ditched all modern fashion trends to follow her own aesthetic that makes her look like she came back from the 19th century.
Every day, Povoroznyuk pulls off a full-blown head-to-toe look including long vintage dresses, corsets, puffed blouses, elegant top hats and footwear, intricate accessories, hairstyle, and makeup to become a living representation of 19th-century fashion.

She should get together with this guy... https://www.boredpanda.com/zack-pinsent-brighton-tailor-105/
12 years ago, Povoroznyuk got involved in the movement of historical reconstruction. She started sewing her own outfits for various occasions, from medieval festivals to 18th and 19th-century balls. For around two years now, she has been wearing vintage outfits every day.
"The first piece of clothing in the style of the 19th century which I started wearing in my everyday life was a blue autumn coat. It was made 8 years ago. I naturally started selecting harmonious things that would go with it. My wardrobe was gradually filling with vintage items," Povoroznyuk told Bored Panda.
Like most of my generation, I dress like a slob- at 63 I look as if I'm way overdue for summer camp. I think we forget that dress and manners reflect society, hence slovenly appearance too often reflects sloppy and poorly disciplined thought, which might have contributed to the rise of our very dangerous politics. As to the above photo, I believe the term "fetching" applys.
Yes!! I see a Jules Verne adaptation for our intrepid heroine.
Load More Replies...Oh, for a waist! I tried wearing a corset once. Now I understand why women of the 19th century fainted all the time. She looks gorgeous, though. AND - I am a HUGE Steam Punk fan!
A little bit of imagination added and a sprinkle of creative application always wins credos
Povoroznyuk finds inspiration for her wardrobe on Pinterest, Google, and old magazines with dresses from that era. She sews and thrifts her vintage attire, which makes her one-of-a-kind outfits stand out in a crowd (not that 19th and 20th-century-inspired clothes are a common sight on the streets in modern times). She finds her accessories from like-minded people's personal collections and flea markets. Her unique style makes her comfortable and confident and that's all that matters. Although Povoroznyuk often gets weird looks in the streets, her sense of style has brought her internet fame—she already has 69k followers on Instagram and her short videos on TikTok have millions of views.
I don't know why, but I expect her to start talking in a strong Irish accent here.
Inhaling the fragrance of the lavender fields while enjoying the memories the sweet aroma brings up.
Povoroznyuk admires Victorian fashion, but the Edwardian era from the early 1900s is her favorite.
"The suffragette movements began during that period. I think that all women should be grateful for this period for the rights and opportunities that we have today.
"Povoroznyuk says that she likes all the clothes she owns as she chooses them carefully. The most uncomfortable one, though, is the modern bra and most women could relate to that.
Does anyone think that she's probably called Mary Poppins because she just pops in when ever she likes? let me know if I'm wrong.
Load More Replies...Mary Poppins has an electric bike- they'll be telling me there is no chim chimney next!
The Victorian underwear although 'crippling' with waits cinches, was as lovely as the gowns worn over them..This looks the original garment
If you have ever tried cosplay or bought a costume, you would assume that dressing like that would cost a fortune, but since Povoroznyuk hand-crafts most of the clothes, she would disagree. Although she says that it often depends on the outfit and can sometimes be pretty costly.
"Everything is very relative. I have outfits that cost me less than $10 because I sew them by myself out of fabric I found in a second-hand store. I also have really expensive ones because I buy expensive fabric and visit a seamstress."
Not keen of mushrooms but absolutely love that incredible outfit. Wow!
My first initial thought: "wow she looks nice-- wait I didn't know they had iphones back then!! oh wait haha"
Load More Replies...you know this is probably on some conspiracy theory-time travel page on reddit right now.
This would also look good on a mature woman. It's nice to see people dress like adults.
When we asked Povoroznyuk how people react to her unique appearance on a daily basis, she had a lot to say.
"Everyone reacts in accordance with their upbringing and their level of psycho-emotional development. It should be added that a person's reaction to a stimulus (light, noise, a person in unusual clothes) is influenced by temperament, character, mentality."
She could divide people she meets into several groups. The first group "includes people with a high level of intelligence and psycho-emotional development. Such people are well-mannered, mature, tolerant. They have a sense of both self-esteem and respect for others, regardless of age or social status." Although they might not have a soft spot for vintage, they would react with the understanding that everyone "has every right to express themselves." Those who like vintage, on the other hand, would often not show any reaction and respect the boundaries of personal space or won't hesitate to compliment if they are more open-minded.
Another group is not so tolerant, but Povoroznyuk says she doesn't take it to heart as she wouldn't be offended at a dog who barks at her.
"Unfortunately, in our world, there are a lot of people who are uneducated and psycho-emotionally immature, and due to various reasons, they have not yet mastered at least minimal foundations of ethics and respect for other people. There are also people with low IQ levels. These features can also be combined in one person. The reaction of such people is not only negative but also pronounced (due to a lack of education). It manifests in different ways—from laughter to vile comments and assaults."
I know this article is about the girl, and she is great, but the doggo is SOOOOOOO FLUFFY
I don't mean to be rude, but did you just copy my comment for points?
Load More Replies...I was about to say that too because I am an absolute dog nerd. They are so white and fluffy and smiley its just ahahhhh so cute 😊🤗
Load More Replies...In this photo, because of the angle and her curls, she looks like a dark-haired Nicole Kidman.
The dog is a Samoyed, we had one for 12 years, they are the best dogs
Oooh, racy! People were shocked in the 19th century when they saw ladies wearing bloomers!
The modern Miss when she decided to wear the pants and led the way to the future of fashion freedom.
I don't think women were allowed to wear pants in the 19th century...
If you ask Povoroznyuk why she dresses like it's the 19th century, the answer will be quite simple and straightforward—because she likes it and wants to. She advises other people who would like to express themselves through clothing but are too afraid of judgment to follow her example: "Life is too short to be wasted in fear. You need to live for yourself and not think about what others will think about you."
Where does she get these clothes? Are they custom made? Did she make them herself? I have soo many questions!!
There are shops that sell antique clothes, there are also shops that sell 'retro', if you can afford it.
Load More Replies...Yes! My first thought. She's channeling Audrey Hepburn in this one!
Load More Replies...What I wouldn’t give to wear there kinda clothes I love old dresses and balls and things
Yep. Reminds me a bit of the rococo style, though not as elaborate. I agree, it's very well done.
Load More Replies...Add slightly larger hoops in her skirt and a parasol, and she could be picnicking with Scarlett O'Hara.
This one is a little too 'Aunty Mabel's lounge curtains' for me, but so far have loved all the others
Not sure of the practicality of the skirt or the extreme contrast of the fitted bodice.
Her loveliness is well accented by those GORGEOUS lupines in her basket! I've never seen them even half this big!
Feed the birds, something, something, idk the words... Mary Poppins indeed 🎶🎶🎶
Taupence a bag, bread crumbs, bread crumbs, bread crumbs a from a bag! (those aren't the words i just made them up)
Load More Replies...OutSTanDing!! what a great shot and the colors of the outfit are beautiful
As a Scottish woman, I love it but my tartan is dark blue & dark greens gold.
School teacher--- Kudos to the photographer for all these great photos!
I love the little street lamp next to the one on the floor! scottish!
All set for a Sunday walk , a shopping trip and a drive in the country?
Absolutely beautiful..!! I agree it should have been the #1 photo seen
The hand made laces and embroidery was extra ordinary and beautifully created in those times. Hand fine hand work was always stunning.
Cycling was very popular when the girls wore the pants. Always feminine
I'd be scared to sit on a tree with rough bark in lovely satin like that -- I hope she didn't end up with a hundred snags in her skirt!
Hmm she wears a trimmed 'riding hat' with a satin skirt with long white ballroom kid gloves! Interesting choices.
I knew I was going to fall in love when I first clicked on this article...
More of a 20th century dress I'd have thought. 1920's perhaps, or 30's.
It a mish-mash of 20th century decades. The waist is wrong for the 20s, and the length is wrong for the 30s. 40s or early 60s would be my guess—-at the earliest. The shoes, however, look more 20s to 30s, and the hat more 1910s.
Load More Replies...I wore something like with this finer stripes ( and 'cuban styled shoes) in the early1950's
I have to wonder just how tight her corset is, though. It would be really uncomfortable to corset as tightly as most women did in the 19th century, to put it mildly!
how much hair stuff does it take to put your hair up like that? especially if your hair is curly?
You use a roll of fake hair (or your own hair that you've saved), and pin your hair over it. Long hair, NOT freshly washed, is great. "Dirty" or oily hair has a bit of grip, so you don't need much to make the style, just a bit to tame any wispy flyaways. I did historic reenacting for decades, and never used hair spray for my simple style.
Load More Replies...Her ability to do such a wide variety of hairstyles is really impressive! I have some idea how she does this, but I wouldn't be able to do it in a million years even though I have hair even longer than hers. I suspect she has a friend or employee who's a hairdresser; it's hard to do fancy hairstyles by yourself. That's why most women who could afford it had a ladies maid to help them dress and fix their hair.
It's actually not that hard with practice. You use either hair "rats" or, since we have modern style tools, cut hair "doughnuts" to create the shape, and from there regular hair pins do the rest. Definitely best to do a few practice runs before going out, but once you get it down it only takes 5-10 minutes. :)
Load More Replies...this is my style.... I would wear stuff like this every day if it was not so uncomfortable. they are not bad, they are just not built for my body.
These are lovely but they are not the outfits or someone who does housework.
Yes! The Lady of Shalott scene. (Well, Anne was in a rowboat, but YKWIM). Similar vibes, definitely.
Load More Replies...I aspire to dress this way and be a handsome victorian man who might be a vampire, but you'll never know..
Me too! *actually leaves to get ice cream from fridge*
Load More Replies...The ice cream parlour literally came about because women weren't allowed unescorted into most restaurants or bars! There's a really great article about it on Atlas Obscura: https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/why-is-it-called-an-ice-cream-parlor
Totally jealous of ALL the utterly gorgeous outfits!! Well done, my dear.
A basket of Buddleia or perfumed Lilac gathered on an after non walk to read sitting on the soft grasses?
What a lovely giant lilac bush! I live in too warm a climate for lilacs, and so I love to see them whenever I can visit somewhere they will grow.
This is more the favoured tradition style when the bustle was dropped.
can't tell which way she is facing. I think away from the camera
do I get the sense of Alice in wonderland one of the twin girls one was in yellow and one was in blue?
love the puff sleeves it would make anne from green gables jealous
I saw a pattern to make those type of sleeves. It's unreal!
Load More Replies...I thought that for the steampunk one, but not for all of them. Mary Poppins, Anne of Green Gables and Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady).
Load More Replies...very pretty flowers. I can't figure out though what kind of look she is giving me
ever notice how often bare-footed models do the curl-in toe thing? would our sensibilities be assaulted if we saw toes out to the full length? yes, even if you have morton's toe. (seriously, that's the term. google it.)
I think it has more to do with them tensing their muscles in other parts of the body to hold the perfect shot. The curled toes is a side effect that they probably didn’t even notice.
Load More Replies...This is nefarious, you can see her ankles! But seriously, this is much more pleasant to look at than all those plastic nudes on Insta.
You can see her ankles because this is her underwear. My question is who is helping her get dressed—-especially the corset! Real corsets that lace up the back (which are nothing at all like the bustiers sold as modern underwear) absolutely require help to lace tightly enough for the silhouette you need for any pre-1920s look. You cannot lace one yourself—-and trying to re-hook yourself back into a pre-laced corset is impossible. The only easy part of wearing a corset is taking it off by unhooking it from the front.
Load More Replies...A woman is not obliged to smile all the time. She might think of something serious.
But the thing is, you normally wouldn't look like that even if you're not smiling. That's kind of my stressful day face
Load More Replies...I live in the South - so am SO happy we don't dress like this today; I'd be miserable.
She looks great! But there's no description to this so I'm confused about the smoke
it looks like funeral clothes, maybe there's something about burning a persons possesions?
Load More Replies...I can't. I CAN PHYSICALLY NOT. I must leave b4 I become even more obsessed with Enola Holmes.
it's a nice photo but her face has been too photo-shopped in this one, it doesn't match the lighting of the rest of the photo.
Lighting the face that way can be done with reflectors when taking the shot. It's not necessarily photoshopped.
Load More Replies...reminds me of diana in anne of green gables when anne and gilbert walk in on diana and fred are having their little romantic ta and diana get's mad at anne
I have an antique pillowcase with the same type of lacing. So fragile. I ripped it. : (
Gorgeous and a very nice puff on the sleeve It stands up very well w/o any stuffing inside
I love them all. You must have a king size walk in to store them all and a budget to match. So lovely each one.
There are girls like her, putting so mush effort in their appearance. And then there's me, yesterday when I was at work I realized that I put on my socks inside out.
I sympathize with you, I worked outside in forests for 10+ years and never bothered with my appearance. And now when I do want to look nice, I don't really remember how... : /
Load More Replies...These dresses are soo amazing! I love the fact she wears one every day, that is fierce!!
The reality is that, had she lived in the Victorian/Edwardian era, she would have had one dress for day to day wear and, maybe, a dress for best. Those who would have had clothes such as these would have been the wealthiest and a very small proportion of the population.
Can you imagine if we were slowly going back to that style? how exciting that would be! •ᴗ•
All fun and games till the corset and ankle outrage stuff.... so no Also my minion pajamas would take offence
Load More Replies...A lovely girl. I wish we could all be more like her, looking beautiful but not caring about people judging her clothes, y’know? Also she reminds me of Mary Poppins <3
A few more pictures would be nice, how she shops in such clothes or does trivial things. In any case, she seems to feel comfortable in them. Do you know Cranford, Downton Abbey, The Paradise or Mr Selfridge? I think I'm going to watch them again. Thanks for the inspiration.
