"For me, it's about feeling glad to wake up in the morning, looking forward to the day ahead and being grateful to be alive," she said.
"I think contentment is perhaps a quieter sort of happiness, closer to peace. And happiness perhaps involves a bit more excitement. But both are great!"

I grew up on a cattle ranch. A calf in the kitchen was a pretty common sight. Living up in the Blue Mountains, it gets very cold in winter. So cold that if a cow gives birth the calf could die. So we load it up in the truck, haul it back to the ranch house. My mom would get on it with a pair of hair driers. Not all of them made it.

According to the comedy writer, two ways that we can all spread some happiness and cheer in our local areas include sending out holiday cards and volunteering.
"I've sent my neighbors Christmas cards this year, with nice things written in them about my hopes for their coming year. They haven't sent any back yet, but giving in the expectation of receiving doesn't make you as happy!" she said that gift-giving and charity are their own rewards. We should give freely and expect nothing back.
"Christmas is also a good time to volunteer for homeless charities as they need our help to care for people and help them off the streets," she stressed that this is the perfect time to have a big positive impact on your neighborhood and help the people there.

We bought one similar for our pet lambs when they were little. Then on a local fb people would post saying I just drove down (my road) and I'm sure I saw a lamb on a slide? There is no pavement so no one walking past so I took some photos and posted them to show they did see right. The lambs loved it!

My mom and I tried this with my sister’s pup with my sisters consent once. The poor girl was absolutely terrified, which surprised us because she’s usually pretty adventurous! My pup is less so and prefers to stick to a routine much more than my sister’s pup does. We’ve never tried that with her as a result. I have no doubt they would have fun with it if they were more like these pugs, though. This is adorable! ❤️

My history teacher sometimes brings her dog at school. I pet him everytime.
The author of 'The How of Happy' also pointed out that people tend to be more generous and kinder the less they have. We feel empathy for folks who are in similar situations or are down on their luck like we've been before.
"I've found that people who are going through hard times—or who have been through them—tend to be more compassionate and empathetic. For instance, when I used to busk on the underground here in London, playing guitar and singing for money, it was never the white businessmen in smart suits who would throw money into my guitar case. It was always women with young children, and students, and ethnic minorities, and the elderly," she shared a snippet from her life experience. "People who knew what it was like not to have much money, but who were generous anyway."

To say that the ‘Wholesome Memes’ social media project is well-known would be an understatement. It has enjoyed massive success since creating its Twitter account in August 2016.
According to the founders of the page, they spread internet memes and images that “promote health or well-being of body, mind, and/or soul.” In other words, they try to give everyone a little boost in a bunch of small ways.
In the 6+ years since being created, the account has amassed a jaw-dropping 2.9 million followers. And the popularity train isn’t stopping any time soon. In March 2021, they had 1.3 million fans. That already impressive number has more than doubled between then and now.

Cats actually adapt to losing their sight and/or hearing very well. Just try not to move stuff around too much in the house. And if kitty is losing vision but can still hear, talk to her/him a lot. I had an adventurous boy who barely slowed down even when he was mostly blind and deaf.

The founders’ wholesomeness and sense of social responsibility extends to the way they operate their business as well.
“All our clothing manufacturers declare their products have no involvement in sweatshops, child and forced labor, that is why our clothing lines focus on premium American Apparel and Bella Canvas brands. These brands are not the cheapest but ensure a fair wage at both the manufacturing and distribution level.” In other words, they practice what they preach. It’s all wholesomeness, all the time.

My cat "hunts" little foam balls at night while I'm asleep. When I wake up in the morning they are all lined up right outside my bedroom door. Sometimes it's 1 or 2, and sometimes there are 6 or 7. It's always a surprise. :) I guess some nights she is busier than others. I love that she presents her spoils to me like she's proud of herself.

I have tried Halloween masks of varying styles and gore factor, and my cat looks at me like "Yeah Mom, you're funny..." Nothing scares him.

Reminds me of the story I read as a kid about the foolish man who doesn't know what a pumpkin is, so just to mess with him someone tells him they're donkey eggs. He decides he'd love a donkey to be his friend so he tries to hatch one and of course fails. He gives up and sadly tosses the rotten pumpkin over a fence, where it startles a hare. The poor fool sees the hare running away and yells "come back, little donkey!"

I am not a cat person but my wife is. In our time together she has had several cats. They always torment her (one went so far as to use her towel as a litter box every time she left it on the floor). They always end up gravitating to my lap or shoulder, whether it is convenient or not. They think I am a cat person. I don't have the heart to try and convince them otherwise.

This has happened to me, but with something much worse 😅😅. Plz don’t downvote I’m just handing out advice. I had a retainer and went to this nice restaurant (Chinese). I put my retainer in a little side bowl due to have forgotten my case at home. The meal was amazing, but when I went to put my retainer back in, it was gone. I used to work for a florist and they made arrangements with beta fish in the vases. It's possible someone sent her one of those arrangements because that is the exact type of case that would be used for that. She might not have any prior knowledge of what a beta fish needs and just followed the instructions that came with the arrangement, which are not the best for caring for a beta fish. Sure she could goggle the correct info but she may have just been trusting that the info that came with the fish and arrangement was correct.

Plus zero filtration or heater! :( Bettas are tropical fish. I had a beloved betta and he had a 20-gallon fully-planted heated/gently filtered tank. He lived for many years :)

Wood is very strong, especially when it is still alive. The stem has a diameter of 15 cm, the branches combined are even thicker. This amount of wood is much more than usually used in manufactured chairs.

Dog fashion hack: instead of the overpriced stuff for dogs, get a kid's jacket from the secondhand , apply it to dog zipper up. It takes a littlebit trial & error for the right size, but then it is magic. Our dog had 3 jackets - no more wet bellies for a couple of euros!

Yup. Used to pass it every day on the way to work. For a time it was broken, then a storm went through and damaged it further and they ended up fixing and updating it. Now the beak opens and closes and the eyes go in a circle.

That's exactly how my dog's employee of the month portrait would be like. I live with three human males and the dog outworks them consistently, month after month.
