There is a wonderful Twilight Zone episode (The Hunt) where a burly mountain man called Hyder dies trying to save his beloved dog Rip from drowning. Unfortunately, both Hyder and his dog drown. When Hyder is ready to pass into the afterlife he is first greeted by a man who says he can enter Heaven but his dog Rip cannot. Hyder refuses to enter the afterlife without this dog. Hyder is then met by another young man who says he is an angel and that the man who had originally denied his dog entry into the afterlife was the Devil in disguise. Hyder then enters into the afterlife with his beloved dog.

Recently at the puppy park I saw a couple. The man was carrying a heavy Goldie. I asked if the dog was ok and they said they were on the way to get him put down because of cancer. They wanted to bring him to the park for one last visit. They let me pet and kiss their beautiful boy and we all had tears and talked about him and my Labradoodle, Gigi, whom we had to put down 3 years earlier due to f*****g cancer. They didn’t want to leave the park. Who could blame them. I’m crying so hard relating this. I miss Gigi still so much and know those lovely people miss their boy too.

I have 2 crows that I suspect are coupled up. For years they've visited my front porch looking for song bird food (tiny bird seed) and cat food that the feral may have left. And they sometimes bring gifts! Once a perfect pebble, another time a little blue glass bead. They're so cute!

My nephew was running in the park, and there were some crows in the walkway, and he was about to run towards them to scare them. I immediately hid my face. That park is two blocks from my house. I don’t need crows being mad at me. But they are amazing animals and you shouldn’t mess with them

I was on a monorail at Busch Gardens many years ago. When we passed over the lion , there was a pair going at it with about 4 more males lined up waiting. Parents with young kids were horrified.

So usps, ups, used to deliver to my door. Then one day they stopped and just used my mailbox. I wasn't sure why until a stranger came by. My blue heeler and my hound went psycho and were being super aggressive and snapping. They make great guard dogs apparently.

People do this when they show cattle (at fairs, etc). The fluffiness isn't just from the shampoo, you use a huuuuge blow dryer and there is hair spray-like stuff you use. And lots of brushing (against the direction the hair grows). Trust me, I'm a bovine, I know these things.

I was watching a nature documentary about sloths. Sloths spent a good portion of their live in the tree tops and really only come down to defecate. Unfortunately, much of their habitat has been destroyed by highways so the are at risk of getting hit by a car since they move so slow. I'm not saying these puppers aren't amazingly cute but please people be aware how dangerous it is to breed a small dog with a large dog. Shouldn't be done at all. I am a uk kennel club accredited breeder with 20 years experience of breeding and showing or at east I was until I lost my last beautiful girl and can't deal with the heartache of losing her

Don't fix your dog until they're a year old. Their bodies need those hormones. If you're a responsible pet owner, your dog will benefit from keeping their sex organs. In the UK, they do vascectomies on male dogs, not castrations. Intact dogs live longer.

Me too! My stepmom bred champion AKC Rottweilers when I was a kid, and I got to assist with three litters- I remember one birth, the momma (Tasha) whined and I immediately rubbed her back and petted her and told her how good she was doing (imagine a 10 yr old saying this) and when the pups came, she brought them to me. When I was 19, I got my own rottie; Nash. Actually, he was my husbands dog, but he favored me. When I was pregnant, he would lay his head on my belly and would NOT leave me alone. If someone came over, he would sit in front of me. If someone tried to hug me (men only, actually), he would let out a low growl. He wouldn't even let my dad hug me, but he said he understood- Nash was protecting me. When my son arrived, he suddenly was Treys dog. Slept under his crib, when he cried, Nash cried. He would nudge Trey out of door ways or things he felt weren't safe. We lost him, bc we moved to another state and our new rental was close to the only road in or out. I'm positive ---

My nana’s old dog spunky (well it was my dad’s dog when he was a kid) had found a kitten who had gotten separated from her or his litter after they left so the dog took her back to his dog house and tried to keep her by keeping the kitten in his jaws. My nana had to get the kitten by bribing him with a cookie. Sadly spunky is no longer with us.

My sister had a calico that had kittens and the mother cat disowned the litter and my mom's chihuahua had a puppy that passed at birth, so mom put the kittens with the chihuahua and the dog raised them. Tiny(the chihuahua) was so happy and pleased with herself. I called them dats.

I used to have a dog that did this he was an Airedale he would love them as kittens and raise them as his own but once they turned into adult cats it would pick them up by the scruff walk him five miles into the woods and tell him to get lost he was the funniest thing

I petted one of these in Kenya and it was very chill. Tour of game reserve, stopped for lunch at this sort of tourist center in the middle of nowhere. Afterwards I'm standing near the open air building looking at a small tree full of those weaver bird nests. This thing (I didn't know what it was at the time) wanders up next to me and me being the animal idiot I am just automatically reached down and petted its back. Then it sort of wandered on. That whole day is good memories. Saw panthers and hippos and giant termite mounds and giraffes and (insert usual "Africa" stuff).

I wad so inspired by this that I did this for one of my autistic students. I told him that if he had no missing work by Progress Reports, I would make him a plushie of his own design. He was thrilled and promptly produced a drawing. He kept his word, so I kept mine. He was ecstatic and started crying when I gave it to him. 😊

Hops on plane, flies 3,500 miles to Scotland. Sees two cute ponies standing in the mud. Okay, now what? That's about it mate. On your way out there's a gift shop with stuffies and post cards. LOL. I tease, Scotland has some beauty and I'd like to visit some day. But in general when I see a tourist ad and the focus is on a cute puppy or their annual pancake eating contest I tend to think - Oh, so you don't really have much to show me and you just want people to go there and spend money. I have mostly seen this with small towns in the USA. A nearby town included - annual berry festival. Yes, we grow lots of strawberries / raspberries (and also blueberries now). But sidewalk sales, strawberry shortcake, tractors and some basketball hoops isn't very much of a "festival".

Shetland is brilliant if you love the great outdoors, enjoy wildlife, are fascinated by archeology, and interested in mythology and folktales (there’s a wonderful mixture of Nordic and Scottish cultural elements in Shetland). It also has a wonderful knitting and arts culture. Plus, there’s the Up Helly Aa Viking fire festival which is celebrated to ring in the new year and movement toward spring. I may be a bit biased though

No sorry in the case you are wrong. True the ones worn by humans are not cardigans - meaning it opens in the front with buttons (never a zipper!) but jumpers (sweaters in the US). You put them on over your head. Most are also knitted in the round rather than in sections and sewn together. Knitted many over the years. However in this case they are cardigans, you can see the buttons on the one on the left. Can you imagine trying to shove a true jumper over the head of one of these little guys?

A racoon escaped from a small zoo in Germany and made my sister think someone was trying to break into our house through her window. After calling the small zoo down the street it turned out they were in fact missing one racoon for some weeks now. After telling them said racoon had damaged our jalousie it turned out that it was also quite possible that that was an entirely different racoon and not theirs.

Panther and leopard are the same animal and come from Africa. Jaguar is from America and calling it a panther is incorrect, although they are also part of the Panthera.

The bathroom is the safest room in a house. Tornado experts advise people to get to the center most room in the house or next best is the bathroom. There is a lot of plumbing in there and a lot of wood framing to hold the plumbing in place. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I'd LOVE this. Unfortunately, some Karen or Ken will whine that the birbs triggered their allergies, and Lyft will bow to them and make a company-wide "no pets in cars rule". Take an allergy pill, Karen, and quit trying to ruin things for us all, just because *you* are a miserable person. (This idea applies to a lot of situations, sadly.)

"Average banana weighs 3628 grams" factoid actually just statistical error. Average banana weighs 118 grams. Bananas Georg, who lives in a cave and weighs 10,000 grams, is an outlier adn should not have been counted.

There are over a thousand varieties of bananas that grow in areas around the Pacific that we’ve never seen. We have the Cavendish, which is a cloned banana which will soon be wiped out, as plantations are being attacked by a virus which you can’t build into the bananas defence. So when that goes, there are plenty to take its place.
