The generational divide between millennials and boomers is no secret. From a staggering wealth gap (according to Bloomberg, boomers are 10 times wealthier than millennials, and twice as wealthy as Gen X) to different sets of values, these two generations seem worlds apart.
But leaving the differences aside, let’s take a moment to not just criticize but appreciate the older generation of our times, who, if anything, have taught us that they too can be cute, hilarious, witty, and utterly wholesome.
If you’re still not convinced, this “Wholesome Boomer Content” project that stretches through both Twitter and Instagram should do the job. The project aims at sharing the most wholesome things boomers have posted, showing their quirky side that we may not see that often! Psst! After you’re done, check out more “Wholesome Boomer Content” in our previous article.

May I have some of that old people money? (or if not that some love? ;)
Grandma money is the best, I should be getting a Nintendo lite from my grandmother this month 🤞
I'm an *old people* and I don't have *old people* money. LOL! Not everyone is a well off boomer, and I'd like that myth busted! (Born in 1948)
Aw, i wish this was my grandmother. Mine doesn't even know what day it is 🙁 and before that, she gave me a map of the world after she found out what terrible sense of direction i have -_-
She showed you her ♥️ when she could, in her own way. Keep that memory in your heart.
Load More Replies...To find out more about baby boomers and fellow generations, as well as the generational clash they have with millennials, we spoke with Dr. Audrey Tang, a chartered psychologist and author of multiple books, including "Be A Great Manager Now", "The Leader's Guide to Mindfulness," and "The Leader's Guide to Resilience.”
Dr. Tang explained that "baby boomers" are defined as being born between 1945 and 1964 - the period after World War II saw a spike in babies being born, giving rise to the name.
“Despite their parents having experienced World War II and needing to recover and repair in its aftermath, babies born in this period experienced huge developments in technology with the shaping of computers, developments in space travel, LED panels and even ‘direct dialing’ and they even had a time of relative stability for family employment and home life,” Dr. Tang said.
Once again my in laws were like this when my daughter came out. Her girlfriend (my bonus daughter) is their granddaughter too and nobody can tell them differently.
Grandparents of today were the cool kids protesting in the 60s for the rights we have now..
I feel so good knowing that my Dad would be exactly the same if my nephew was to message this to him ..I love my parents! 💙💚💛 (although he has a girlfriend so I don't this will happen 😅 )
My grandpa used to call me at least once a week when I was in college between 1AM and 4AM and call me a bastard (child who either is born out of wedlock or does not know their father if BP censors the word) . Grandpa was a former cowboy (animal handler type, not football player) who was pretty rough around the edges. Dad worked nights so grandpa would call him whenever he couldn't sleep. Grandpa would wake up with back pain, take a pill for it, then call dad to chat. Once they'd hang up, I'd get a phone call from grandpa that was always a pain-killer induced profanity laced tirade about either how proud he was of me for doing x(ie aced my chemistry test) or insulting me incessantly for my failures (most common was not calling my family enough). Either way, he had a favorite curse word and he used it like people use the F-bomb now to replace any other word. Due to finals and $$, I could not attend his funeral when he passed and it really hit home that night when he didn't call.
That last line gutted me. Just know he's whenever we go after dying still lovingly calling you a bastard.

Apparently, baby boomers were to experience the growth of the Beatles and enjoy some of the most still-revered music today, and they were not distracted by the smartphone. “It is certainly possible that people may look at this generation with envy!”
“As we reach Gen X (born to the baby boomers between 1965-1981), this was a time of greater upheaval, and so the new parents (i.e. the baby boomers), from a place of relative comfort, began to manage competition for jobs, giving rise to more ‘individualism’ - setting the example of working hard (without so much play).
”There were still refinements to be made in technology with computers becoming household appliances, and the TV expanding its channel repertoire, Dr. Tang added.
Haha, yeah, advise her to skip the pig f*****g one. It's not the best, anyway.

This is so lovable! But she could have added one for me. I was driving home after my sister's wedding about 2 a.m. in a Florida deluge. Small branches we down, so I was being very careful. BTW, it was not raining when I left. Saw a large branch on the road, so just as I was going around it, it got up and started walking across the road. It was easily a 10 foot gator. Behind the actual branch. I thought I was seeing things. I did the whole taking off my glasses, rubbing my eyes, but it was still strolling. Then, just before it cleared the road, it stopped, looked at me and hissed. If there hadn't been that branch, I could have hit it, and flipped my car. And, no, he didn't use a turn signal.
Yeah, watch out for those silverback gorillas roaming the Interstate 😆
This is what happens when Americans buy animals as exotic pets and then release them into the wild when they get too big.

Load More Replies...When it comes to Gen Y/millennials (born between 1982-1994), Dr. Tang argues, they were to use technology on a regular basis, with the world wide web and email giving instant and direct contact with information. “However, it would seem that in some cases, the instant gratification brought through technology may have given some born in this generation an inflated view of what is possible and what they are entitled to in comparison to effort required to achieve it.”

I never begrudge a person whose excited about discovering an old piece of technology that knocks their socks off. Not everyone is lucky enough to experience the new at the same time. I vividly remember the first time I saw color TV. I'd spent Friday night at a friends house and the next morning BUGS BUNNY WAS NOT BLACK AND WHITE!!! Columbus brought the pineapple back from the New World in 1493. Almost 200 years later in 1675 King Charles II thought the first one he saw was so awesome he had a portrait commissioned of him and a pineapple. The painting is still on display at the Ham House in Richmond on Thames. Coincidentally I also love pineapple on ham in real life as well.
My father was born in 1919. When he was a kid, having electricity in your house was a big deal. I gave him and my mom an iPad when they first came out and it only took him a few minutes to figure it out. That's just a mind-blowing leap in technology during his lifetime.

“The most recent generation, Gen Z/post-millennials (born 1995-2010), have grown up with technology as well as the growing dangers of online platforms,” Dr. Tang said, and added that their parents (who may be struggling to move from analogue to digital) may not always recognize the dangers, nor are they in a position of knowledge to stop them.
“For both Gen Z and Gen Y, jobs are not always easy to come by, but at the same time, for Gen X who haven't retrained, they struggle too - leading to a growing mistrust of the styles and work ethics of Gen X and Gen Y/Z.”
“What is notable, however,” Dr. Tang argues, “is that Gen Y and Gen Z will also have experienced greater acceptance of diversity and gender fluidity and chosen partners and the latter also see the value of technology for starting hashtag campaigns and voicing issues such as period poverty.”

My text app is Messages (not that great, don't use that) so I was utterly confused. That was the first time that someone would text me without being in my contact list... In all fairness, many older persons use all caps because it's easier for them to read. They're NOT yelling at you, I promise.
Internet, in 1999. Yelling at kids to get off the computer, because I have people calling wanting me to work for them. So, I get Pagoo! Internet answering machine. Kids, still wouldn't tell me I got messages... Because, they lived on ICQ, yahoo messenger, and Hotmail messenger all at once!
When my aunt (in her 80s) discovered FB she always typed in all caps. It's was SO cute. My kids and I would lol every time she would be on. And we were her only friend on FB so she'd reply to every single post. 😂🤣
When asked about the generational wars between boomers and millennials, Dr. Tang said that Gen X and millennials arguably have the biggest gap in technology. “The changes in technology - analogue to digital, and smart phones was not an evolution but a revolution. Those in Gen X savvy enough and capable of upskilling themselves were able to ride the changes, but others who were not - or perhaps chose not to, found themselves left behind... this further broadened the gap with the Gen X 'dinosaurs' bemoaning the 'inability of millennials to do things the 'hard way,'” she explained.

Who the heck calls it the "ringer" button? Its the volume control, always has been.
Although, I definitely don't call it "the ringer button" it's the volume controls. So maybe a difference in terminology?
Frustration, from having to learn to many things at once! I've been there!
Honestly, finding the little place where you type your reply isn't intuitive. If you're knew to this you like right under the message you want to reply to, and you also look for a really big gap to type in.
I have the same problem with messenger. It pops up and I can't clear it.
Dr. Tang continued that millennials also recognize that technology could make some tasks more efficient without compromising quality. Having said that, “even when there are merits for both sides - when there is conflict, it's not about listening and learning, but about winning,” she said.
“It is also arguable that sometimes Gen X are selective in their complaints - they can 'hate new-fangled technology' - but might have been perfectly happy with CDs and DVDs... and what is also notable is that sometimes it is grandchildren who teach grandparents to use technology, so you might even have baby boomers coping with Zoom and Whatsapp in a way that Gen X are still coming to terms with (i.e. 'What's wrong with a phone call?').”
Puff balls (healthy white inside) are known as the tofu of mushrooms because they easily take on flavors you cook with them. They're dense so easy for slicing and imo delicious!

Who saves their grandparents under their actual name and not "grandma/pa/" or other derivative??
Ha!!! Hate to admit it, that's me. I have my grandma saved as her full name. In fact, everyone except for my parents and best friend have their full name in my contacts. It's like, a mark of honor at this point to be put as just your first name or nickname (like mother/dad). At this point it means they're like closer than my literal family

Hold on one second… something isn’t quite right… oh wait I know! This is to wholesome, we must arrest Jeanine immediately!
Dr. Tang explained that “along with efficiency, however, you DO have the issue that text speech and Facebook friends give the illusion of connection and camaraderie which does not exist IRL (In Real Life) - and while it can sound like Gen X are 'going on' about how millennials need to get off their appliances, the quality of the relationships that Gen X have may well be deeper - and something millennials can learn from.”
When it comes to the generational war, older generations are sometimes even accused of “stealing” the future from the young. Dr. Tang told us that it’s “a very harsh way of phrasing it, BUT saying that, there are so many cases on a social platform where councils, for example, stand in the way of progression arguably because they don't have the vision of the proposers for change; and of course, if we are talking about climate change - yes, there can be an element of selfishness, because a Gen X parent may say - well, it's not going to happen in my lifetime.”
However, she added that at the same time, “the baby boomer and some Gen X parents are those who fold up one piece of toilet paper, and store things in tupperware to ration and avoid waste, just in case... and they may well despair at disposable culture.”
My old HS boyfriend complains about that. He just turned 68. I complain about my boobs heading in the same direction.

Lol. Gramps is proud of his brisket no matter what else is going on.
SUS...grandpa putting wax paper around it like the deli too? Oh ..right..the dog ;)
The fact that the grandparent is called Gramcracker in their phone😂
“Then if we look at disposable culture - if you have the older generation rationing toilet paper (just because they've always done it), and Gen Y and Z littering (look at Glastonbury the night after Paul McCartney's gig) - who is causing the greater problem? ...Although perhaps that was baby boomers right through! But with sustainability, we all need to do our bit,” Dr. Tang argues.
Moreover, it is also perhaps arguable that while older generations can be reminded to embrace diversity, they do so only to the extent of ticking a box, they do not appreciate what inclusion and equality bring to the table because they have "always done it that way," Dr. Tang ponders. But sometimes it's about changing the game, not just the people who are playing it in order to thrive.

My child was 16 when Pokémon Go came out. As a joke they put it on my phone and set up an account for me without my knowledge. I then spent the next few months texting them things like "I just caught a Wild Evee in my room!" Eventually they replied "You don't have to say wild. That's not part of their names. They're all wild until you catch them." with an 🙄. They live in Washington now, but their 11yr-old brother hijacked my account and now has 1000+ Pokémon, including several legendary. He has delays and this was the first thing he ever showed real interest in. He still loves it so we take him out on weekends to go Pokémon hunting; my husband pulls over at random isolated Pokestops for him on our way to town. I don't get people mocking younger people for playing. Kids in the 90s/2000s wanted to be trainers, and now they can!
I had a teacher in the lab who allowed us to play Pokemon Go and played with us. apart from the fact that our laboratory was a pokestop or an arena and the hospital too😂
I'm imagining some sort of twisted (well, twisted-er) Wonka Factory where they make the candy...
Quagmire? Autocorrect go brrr, am I right? I wonder which Pokémon it actually was
“Older generations may also struggle with understanding fluidity in sexuality and gender, and so those freer with their authenticity may feel unvalidated or unseen, causing greater mental health issues... and on the point of mental (ill) health - we have gone beyond psychology applied to help those 'not ok - to OK,' but rather we are looking at growth and transformation, i.e. getting support has less of a stigma; and there are so many more ways of achieving it, e.g. there is a 'third wave' of therapy which may be very unfamiliar to even Gen X practitioners,” the psychologist explained.
Having said that, Dr. Tang concluded that #cancelculture doesn't help each generation understand each other either. “Compromises need to be made on both sides, and perhaps then a more collaborative and inclusive approach can develop!”
I saw one about a mom who complained that her son changed the Google logo, because she liked the old one. He said he didn't do it, it was the people that run Google. Load More Replies...This is true. But in the UK Harry and Meghan get so much hate from the newspapers, it's disgusting the things they say about them..
Most of it is well deserved, they are horrendous people, from a Brit.
Load More Replies...As a Brit, I feel that some of the dislike of Harry and Meaghan is justifiable. They stepped down as senior members of the Royal family citing privacy reasons, but then gave a very public interview on Oprah Winfrey and are doing a Netlix documentary now? They are very happy to cash in on the family name, while complaining about the ' unfair' treatment they've been subjected to. Harry has lived a very privileged life, attending the best private schools in the county and having everything he wants/needs given to him curtesy of the British tax payer because he's part of the British Royal family and now he's had the full benefit of that he insults the family and the UK saying they're treating him poorly. Let's not also forget that Meghan has been caught out lying a couple of times as well. She claimed to have never heard of the British royal family and had no idea who Harry was when they met, and then a photo of her outside Buckingham Palace as a child emerged.
Given that Meghan was living in Canada (part of the Commonwealth and even has the Queen on their currency) when she started going out with Harry, I find it unlikely she didn't know who Queen Elizabeth II was. There was also the matter of her claiming on Oprah that herself and Harry had legally got married a few days before their public, tax payer funded wedding. This was also proved to be a lie. You can say what you like about William but he's not the one insulting his family. William is taking his responsibility as future king seriously and doesn't go on TV to cause distress to his 96 year old grandmother, who has ruled for 70 years. Harry should go back to concentrating on his work for armed forces veterans being a former soldier himself, instead on trying to be a big star in California.
