The Instagram page "[Messed] Up Looking Cars" has a collection of cringe-worthy examples of car owners who took things a little too far. From a giant hamburger-looking vehicle to another car with some duct-taped parts, these modifications will make you question the taste of some enthusiasts.
With that being said, it's a cautionary tale for car enthusiasts everywhere, a reminder that sometimes less is more when it comes to customizing your ride. This is why the stoplights are on the other side of the road not right above you. If they're right above you you're too close to them. Also why there are lights on the pole as well as the arm. Trucks built like this are nothing new, though never quite as cool looking.

Safety is also a big concern when it comes to modifying your car. Sure, that spoiler may make your car look like it's ready for the racetrack, but it could also make it harder to handle at high speeds. And that loud exhaust may sound cool, but it could be dangerous for pedestrians, especially those with hearing impairments.

'merica. Many of our states could not care less about what you drive. As long as it has seatbelts, you can see out of the windows, has tags, and can brake, you're good. Most of those states are in the South, like South Carolina, where I'm from.

That title was the worst thing about this gallery. Many of those were either really well executed, a brilliant concept or both. A little redneck, perhaps in some cases, maybe a little offbeat, but "ruined?!?" naw, man. Some of those mods were downright sublime. Not everyone wants a samey car from Detroit's design school

Some of these are very likely business cars. Many are amazing in their handiwork. The duct tape one very likely belongs to someone who cannot afford cosmetic repairs (and probably more seriously needed ones). We have one around my work that has been designed to look like a Tonka truck. I get giggly every time I see it. Also, VERY unlikely any of these will be stolen.

There's a car in West Seattle (WA), I think it's a Subaru Outback and it's painted in Zebra stripes. THEN it is covered with small plastic animals (think like a toy Noah's Ark set), and I do mean COVERED. Older lady who drives it looks like the 60's were really good to her.
