It’s Recommended To Wash Hands For 20 Seconds, So People Have Suggested These 53 Songs To Sing Instead Of Counting
The coronavirus, or COVID-19, as it’s scientifically called, has been on everyone’s minds over the past several months. To date, there are over 95,000 confirmed cases worldwide with over 3,200 deaths across 79 countries. While the majority of these cases were identified in China, the virus surely isn’t stopping there.
Many global and national health institutions have issued precautionary measures and instructions on how people should protect themselves against the coronavirus outbreak. Among these methods was the washing of hands, which inevitably led to this one tweet going viral…
Freelance journalist Jen Monnier tweeted that people are supposed to wash their hands for 20 seconds, which turns out to be the exact time that it takes to sing Happy Birthday twice. However, when one song gets old and irritating to an uncomfortable degree, it’s time to switch songs.

Jen suggested 6 other songs. The internet suggested the rest. Bored Panda invites you to check out some of the best suggestions for songs to sing while washing your hands. While you’re at it, why not leave a comment with some of your personal suggestions and song recommendations.

This is BRILLIANT. I may print this and hang it above my desk. You know - to make work better, better, better, better, better, WAAAAAAA.
It's ironic and of course really sad that Barry Gibb is the only one now who is now Stayin' Alive.
I had a toothbrush as a kid that played this song and this post just gave me a traumatic flashback. Thanks Mom XD

Oh, the year was 1778 / How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now / A letter of marque came from the king / To the scummiest vessel I've ever seen / God damn them all! I was told / We'd cruise the seas for American gold / We'd fire no guns, shed no tears / But I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier / The last of Barrett's Privateers (22s)

Load More Replies...OMG I remember that song. I sang it, like, every day in first grade .
LOL, I remember me and my friends, Will and Kyle, we got to sing this for our 1st-grade concert. Kyle messed it up by singing 'This land is my land, this land ain't you land!' Ah... Memories.
This last is your land, this land is my land. From Beuna Vista, to Vancouver Island. From the Arctic Circle, to the Great Lake waters, this land was made for you and me! (I'm Canadian, Eh?)
Pete Seeger! He made it to about age 95, and he was still performing way into his later years.
I prefer it to Joey's twin hand song from Friends... This hand is my hand, this hand is your hand. Oh wait that's my hand, oh no it's your hand..
We still sing this in Guides to close meetings. Though my group chose to make it nondenominational and said "friends goodnight" instead of god is nigh.
make new friends, but keep the old. One is sliver and another is gold, see a circle it never ends! thats how long i want to be your friend!
Oh. My. God. HOW DID I NOT KNOW THEY WERE THE SAME SONG??? I feel like I've been lied to all these years.
You can't kill the coronavirus by clapping your hands. There needs to be water and soap involved.
that was my first thought ... seeing all that soap splatter all over everything while clapping and stomping

Haha - I was just thinking of the Narwhal song, because of the Baby Shark song! Love it!

Load More Replies...I remember singing this as a kid (a loooonng time ago!): Miss Polly had a dolly who was sick, sick, sick; So she called for the doctor to come quick, quick, quick; The doctor came with his bag and his hat; And he knocked on the door with a rat-a-tat-tat; He looked at the dolly and he shook his head; And he said “Miss Polly, put her straight to bed!”; He wrote on a paper for some pills, pills, pills; “I’ll be back in the morning with my bill, bill, bill.”
Iiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnn.... West Philadelphia, Born and Raised, On the playground, is where I spent most of my days. Chillin' out, maxin', relaxin' all cool, Shootin' some B-ball outside of the school, When a couple of guys, they were up to no good, Started making trouble in my neighbourhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, She said, "Your movin' with you aunty and uncle in Bel-Air!" I whistled for a cab, and when it came near, The license plate said "FRESH" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything, I could say that this cab was rare, So I thought, "Now, forget it! Yo-ho to Bel-Air!"
The worrying thing is that people need to be told how to wash their hands properly.
