The Answer To The Question “Why Do I Need My Lights On? It’s Only Rain”
Certainly in Europe/UK, all new cars have daytime running lights on all the time. Even my 11 year old car has them.
Except daytime running lights only turn on the headlights, not the ones in the back... bad design team, no cookie
Load More Replies...What makes it worse is that so many cars these days are grey or silver. They become invisible.
im surprised people don't know that just by driving. i drive a sedan and if you don't have your lights on, you look like that in the rain too.
Good thing this truck driver was able to presumably use his phone to capture this image in his side mirror while driving, in the rain...so safe.
My car has automatic lights, but sometimes they don't come on in the rain or fog unless it's pretty dark, so I have to manually turn them on. I've made it habit to check before I get on the road in bad weather.
I've wondered how much of the no headlights in the rain is this. People think the headlights automatically come on and it's not dark enough to trigger the sensor. So they have no idea they're invisible.
Load More Replies...Wouldn't want to waste the engine power on those massive lights...and major accident ensues. Also, too many people rely on the sensors which sometimes don't turn the lights on until it's practically pitch black.
Seattleites drive me nuts because SO MANY of them drive in the dusk and rain wihtou lights - they can 'see', but they don't seem to realize they can't be SEEN!!!!!!

The guy may have met someone who claimed to be the CEO at Textio. It's just a question of who was lying.
I would have like to have asked the bloke, oh yeah, who is that? Then if he said Kieran, I would have given him my passport to look at!

Created in 2018, the subreddit “Useful Red Circle” features all kinds of content, from hidden optical illusions to ridiculous mistakes in marketing. The moderators restrict “not safe for work” (NSFW) posts that contain nudity, vulgarity, or violence so that its members can safely scroll through the images during working hours, too. Fine. Promise a picture of a baby elephant, and give a picture of a post instead.

Forest elephants are startlingly food at hiding. You can pass within a few metres of an elephant in a forest and not see it.

Load More Replies...I think this was pretty well proven during Covid. The Canals in Venice became clearer and had fish in them, Zoo animals, who hadn't previously re-produced, started having babies. Wildflowers grew in new places. Trees too.
If you wish to participate in this subreddit, you have to avoid cluttering the feed with useless circles. However, other useful shapes (like squares and arrows) and colors are allowed as long as their intent is to bring your focus to a part of a video, image, or GIF. The moderators of this community are encouraging an inclusive space and reminding us to be respectful of others, as the usefulness of a red circle might vary from person to person.
The red circle is quite a controversial topic amongst netizens. For some, it helps to point out something hiding in plain sight, while others feel that it’s quite an annoying and useless addition that just states the obvious.

Load More Replies...There’s a good explanation for why some of us fail to notice the things that are so clearly visible to others. In psychology, it’s called inattentional blindness, which involves overlooking certain things because your attention is focused on something else like a task, object, or person. Your concentration plays a significant role in visual perception, and when something else detracts from it, it increases the likelihood of you not noticing the most conspicuous things in your environment. For example, when your attention is on the main character of the film, you might not observe the unexpected things entering your visual field. The same goes for images with red circles. You might miss the circled details because you were so attentive to its foregrounded elements.

These Red Circles Are Very Useful
Actually, this is a good time for a lesson! This is what "normal" red blood cells should look like in a healthy individual. If you have Sickle Cell Anemia the blood has tiny little hooks on them, which is why when you donate blood we cannot use these for transfusion. Healthy blood cells pass through a filter to remove impurities, but a Sickle Cell patients blood will actually get stuck in the filter and will be stopped during that process. The testing and manufacturing labs always catch any donors that are SCA positive and will conduct further testing before notifying the donor, to gather as much information as possible, to help the donor establish some type of healthcare that can treat this condition. SCA disorder can happen to anyone, but unfortunately, African American males are at a much higher risk to develop this disorder. This is something that should show signs of when you are undergoing normal blood work at your Physician and should prompt further testing.
More surface area than a regular oval so as to store oxygen
Load More Replies...To be fair (and to clarify for others) that's the chemical formula for PROTEIN "hemoglobin" which helps bind oxygen in various types of cells. It is mostly known for its role in transporting oxygen via red blood cells to tissues of the body, however it is also found in other types of cells where it will also bind excess oxygen and/or regulated iron levels. It is not the chemical formula for red blood cells in general though.
Load More Replies...Additionally, our brains have been known to miss the obvious and create biases against certain visuals they find distracting. For instance, if you’re participating in an experiment where you’re told to find a face among flashing images of houses, your brain will create a sorting mechanism against images of houses so it can spot the face. If afterward you’re asked to do the opposite, chances are you’ll miss the house pictures due to the bias of the previous test.

I found out that these tests work on a principle that humans will sigh, then randomly tick boxes, pause then either tick done or decide that one box does have a traffic light or car and tick that too. AI won't pause and will go through each box in order using binary logic then press done straight away. Basically if you're lazy, random and inaccurate you're human 😂
If it is being used to AI training I deliberately mark one square incorrectly
Total trick! It's a Dodge, so the correct choice is "NO VEHICLE."

BK once bought out a 1/3 pound burger to rival the McDonalds 1/4 pounder and it was widely rejected by Americans who thought 1/3 is smaller than 1/4, so they had to scrap it and go back to the 1/4 pound version.
this is true, but it wasn't BK it was A&W. They actually discovered this when they got a market research firm, and they polled people, and got answered like "why should I pay the same amount of money for a third of a pound of meat when I can get a fourth of a pound of meat for that price"
Load More Replies...This is exactly how stupid so many people are. For confirmation, A&W once tried to sell 1/3 pound burgers at the same price and McDonalds 1/4 pounder. It flopped because people thought it was less meat for the price.
This reminds me of a story about Burger King trying to challenge McDonald's Quarter Pounder with a 1/3 pounder. Most Americans thought 1/4 was bigger than 1/3.
"I was wanting" is insanely bad grammar. Why not the correct "I wanted to"?
How about we try the metric system, instead of all these confusing fractions? No thanks, we don't understand it. Yeah, as if a 150 gram (1/3 pound) burger versus 115 grams (1/4pound) is so hard to understand. Besides, every stoner in America already knows how many grams are in an ounce.
We do use fractions in the metric system, too. They're not that complicated.

Not impossible that you're right, but it seems unlikely to me.
Load More Replies...On the other hand, some people love to point out the apparent. We did this a lot while we were kids, like saying, “Hey, it’s a dog!" after seeing one. Our parents were probably rolling their eyes and thinking, “Yes, yes, it is Captain Obvious."
But stating evident facts helps us connect to each other and ensure we’re on the same page about the situation, as frustrating as sometimes it might be. Mentioning to a friend, “It’s hot outside,” when standing under the scorching sun acknowledges the shared experience, helping us to feel more connected. While getting iced coffee and in air conditioning, we feel heard and validated, which helps to develop trust in relationships.

Some of us tend to avoid sharing insights that we think are clear to individuals because of our fear of facing dissatisfaction (“Duh, Sherlock.”) It’s the element of surprise we’re usually after to appear interesting, which usually disqualifies the known and predictable from our conversations. But steering away from self-evident topics stops us from discovering something unusual about the obvious that was hiding in plain sight. We worry about seeming generic, but a big part of us is mundane and cliché, which allows us to share familiarities with close people.

It's technically an abbreviation and thus would not be valid in scrabble. It stands for "Oll Korrect". It was a bit of a joke about a hundred years ago.
It literally is officially valid in Scrabble though. It was added to the official Scrabble dictionary in 2018 (as well as being in every other English dictionary I've checked). Yes, it's etymology was as a humourous abbreviation, but it's not used as such any more. In all respects it functions as any other word, with several meanings, operating as many parts of speech etc. It's just got an unusual spelling.

Unless you're buying live seafood (lobsters, etc) or seafood off a boat literally at the shore, your seafood was likely frozen. Because otherwise it would be bad by the time it got to your store.
It's also supposed to be frozen before being eaten anyway, for safety purposes. There are some parasites and stuff that, even if it is one that wouldn't be able to survive in the human body, if it enters the body live, it can cause a problem even after it dies, but if it enters already dead it will pass through your system without any issues.

A nice idea by someone who has apparently never been around a manhole. Typical manhole is cast iron, very heavy. Reflector is shown where the metal surfaces mate. Reflector would be scratched / marred all to heck plus likely covered in the grime that gets into the cracks. Also rarely needed. I've been driving over 50 years and never seen one with a missing cover. I know it can happen. One time during some heavy rain / fllooding I did see one with water shooting up through the holes and it may have dislodged later.
