While Traveling In Afghanistan, I Saw This Country In A Different Light; Here Are 28 Photographs I Took
I am Jafar Frotan, a photographer, graphic designer, web developer, and musician.
These photographs are from 3 years ago, and here are the most beautiful images I captured in Afghanistan. My journey is not over yet, as I will post more from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Italy, and other places I intend to visit.
I hope you like them, and I will be happy if you share your opinions about my photos!

The nature in Afghanistan IS extremely beautiful! no matter what we stupid humans have of conflicting interests about what should happen with the people that live there...
I'm not exactly sure how I got started on photography, but I can tell you one thing – I absolutely love what I do, and it's not about making money. I don't see my work as just a way to earn a paycheck; it's more like something that makes my heart happy. I do what I do because it's important to me, and it's not all about the money.
St Thomas Aquinas speculated paradise was somewhere around Afghanistan/Kazakhstan

Afghanistan is my homeland, and I lived there for a long time before the Taliban took control. The people and nature in Afghanistan are incredibly dramatic.
Isn't this the place where that gigantic Budha was destroyed? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhas_of_Bamiyan
I am so torn by this photo. Of course the composition is extremely striking. And the photographic quality is very high. But, as most of us know, the women in Afghanistan--or indeed any fundamentalist society--live a very painful, oppressed existence.
My passion and main goal revolve around sharing positive and inspiring visuals with the world. To achieve this, I engage in a variety of activities. One of the things I do is share motivational content on Facebook, and create tutorials on YouTube, and on various other places as well.
Oh wow, I would've thought this was in the American southwest if not for the title
Talking about my future goals, I have a plan to visit Pakistan this Christmas. I will take some shots there. I currently live in Italy, and there are many photographs of the country on the internet, but not so many of Afghanistan. I hope these images can not only capture the beauty of the place but also serve as a window into a part of the world that's not as widely represented.
I don't know where read that now under the Taliban they are not allowed to fly kites.
One of these two will go to school, the other will be forced to marry some older man that she has never met...
And will probably die in childbirth or be killed by her husband.

I don't know why, but the big thing looks like gigantic pile of garbage on this picture. Please don't downvote, just sharing what I see.
Thank you for sharing these great photos with the rest of us. I'll never travel to Afghanistan, so it is a special treat when someone who has seen the country can post pictures of every day life.
Such a beautiful place, torn apart by war. It's a shame that it's likely a country most of us will never visit. But it is beautiful to see this side to the country, the everyday life, the beautiful sights and lovely smiles despite what people there may be going through.
Having served there, it is interesting to see the other side of the country, and really sad that ordinary citizens go through so much and can’t just enjoy their country for the beautiful place it is.
An old friend of mine served there. He spent a lot of time with locals in his role and he said the country is just beautiful and the people lovely.

These are so important. On the news, you only see the war-torn hellholes; you don't even get a sense of what is lost by the horrors of war.
