Kids don’t need “gentle parenting” - they need boundaries
I agree with this, but I would say yes, and they need gentle parenting when those boundaries are crossed. Boundaries are important, but so is respect, discussion, allowing them to have boundaries of their own, and showing them love and kindness when they f*ck up, while still maintaining the boundaries and consequences that were set out.
Naps during the day should be normalized at every job
Smartphones made people worse at thinking
Some people don't want to think for themselves (whether out of fear, laziness, or religious cult indoctrination).
Load More Replies...If you think smartphones made people worse at thinking, wait to see what AI chatbots can do
I HATE that people use AI to “write” things! And it’s just going to devolve further…
Load More Replies...Twaddle. It may have made me worse at remembering, but it's improved my thinking
See, i wonder if it is a matter od degrees. Similar to some people using blood pressure pills along with diet and exercise , and some people taking the pills as justifying eating whatever they want. So people who already know how to think critically use it to augment their thinking and others use it to replace their thinking.
Load More Replies...I only use my phone to read things and chat with my friends. Well, and to post funny pictures on Facebook. And at the risk of sounding like an elitist jerk, recent years have gotten me feeling inclined to believe that a whole lot of people have NEVER really thought for themselves, since well before we had even the most basic rotary phones. Nobody's immune to the human tendency toward groupthink, myself included.
I feel like I've been open to so many different opinions and stuff that id be way dumber before
The downside, for me, is that one does not memorize phone numbers anymore because the info is right there in the phone. So, if you lose your phone or are in a place where you can't use it, it's going to be hard to call a friend for help.
Believe it or not, neither my wife nor I have a mobile phone, nor have we ever had one. Although for some things it is almost compulsory (bank accounts, some medical care...), in these cases we give them the mobile phone numbers of some of our children.
So you rely on someone else having access and sharing data for YOU, just because you don´t want to do this yourself? That seems a bit hypocritical to me. I know that sometimes it is "too late" to accomodate with technical developements, if you are of a certain age (like my parents e.g.). They always thought it to be just a "phase" or a "trend" that will fade after a few years. I get that the speed of developement increased extremely over the last decades. But I´m not sure if it is very wise to sit down and hope that I will not be "bothered" or someone else will compensate for me.
Load More Replies...Well yeah, who needs to think when I have this tiny box in my pocket to do it for me?
I think it started with sat-navs. I remember saying when they first came out that in 20 years time hardly anybody would be able to read a physical map. Since then we have gradually allowed ourselves to be shoehorned into a world that simply cannot function without the Internet and we're heading towards a world where not having a smartphone is like not having air to breathe. Fewer and fewer people cannot manage without their apps to guide them.
I'm not sure, let me check my phone what it has to say to that! /s
The “good old days” weren’t actually better
I'm a boomer, and the optimism and confidence I felt for the world in general back in the 70s is gone now. Know things have gone somewhat better for some people since then and definitely better for a lot of people before then, but I feel like now we're all on a downward trend.
Modern art is just expensive nonsense
You can't make a generalized statement like that and expect it to be true in all cases.
Awards shows are just rich people giving each other gifts
Or just popularity contests. The best nominee is not always the winner.
It’s okay to not care about birthdays - even your own
I think you should care about others bdays if you love them and they care about bdays. Part of loving them is caring what they care about.
Not everyone deserves a second chance
I can think of one orange dìckbag that didn't deserve a second chance.
People stay in bad relationships just to avoid being alone
Many times, yes. But I don't agree where abüse is involved - the fear of leaving an àbusive partner is real and valid, even if they'd rather be alone.
Not wanting to meet your partner’s family is valid
If the partner is NC with their family, then yeah. Otherwise why wouldn't you?
Crying in public should be normalized
I said Not Sure because I've seen too many drama Queens/Kings just getting attention.
Small talk is a waste of time
Emotional cheating is worse than physical cheating
Wearing shoes inside should be banned
Musicals are annoying to watch
Depends on the musical. Sound of Music is a very different movie than Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
Soup is not a meal
Depends entirely on what sort of sort of soup and whether it is served alone or with toast or garlic bread.
Leftovers are better than the original meal
“Travel changes you” is just a cliché
Every long-term memory changes the person, it's how the brain works. But the change doesn't necessary make the person better or be noticeable at all.
Making your home “aesthetic” is a waste of money
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one person's aesthetic is not necessarily the same as another.
Working from the office is better than remote work
Too many questions were not suitable for across-the-board answers, making the whole quiz somewhat invalid.
Having a "Fill in your own thoughts" blank space would have been a good addition to the choices.

I'm surprised I did as well as I did. As I get older I have more understanding of people and their stupid likes and dislikes. If you don't like someone or something boot it out of your life. Regardless of what others might say. 60% of idiots doesn't make them right.
