2023 so far has been rich in TikTok trends. We had the fascination with the Roman Empire, loving to be a hater, making our lives look like a Wes Anderson movie, and many, many more things that a single person simply cannot keep track of.
Recently yet another trend took off, and this one is hilariously adorable. People are sharing videos of their pets doing silly or embarrassing things to the tune of Hamilton’s “Dear Theodosia.”
The combination is brilliant! Sometimes all you need to brighten up your day is Lin-Manuel Miranda serenading a dog that has its head stuck in an empty jar of peanut butter.

I turn on a water drizzle for my cat in the kitchen sink nearly every morning while I'm making coffee. She likes to get a drink, wash her face, etc. I had no idea that cats like to do this until we got her. Apparently, it's a cat thing. (We've always had dogs)

The other factor can be the placement of the water bowl. Your cat might not like that it’s somewhere near a wall, which puts them in a vulnerable position as they can’t see what’s happening behind them.
Another instinctual thing is a cat’s preference for flowing water instead of still because of contaminants. In the wild, streams and rivers are the ideal water source as it often is cleaner than what you can find in ponds and pools.

Ironically we use a box to put actual mice in that my cats catch. As well as lizards. That way we can release them outside. It's labeled a "critter box"

My dog thinks that licking the faucet turns it on... I can hear his big tongue lapping against it all over the house and promptly come turn the water on for him

Boxes are ideal for this warming up ritual as cardboard is a great insulator. However, they’re not the only option. Just like this list shows you, cats can make themselves comfortable in bags, plastic wraps and strollers.

I am grateful that my cat NEVER gets on the kitchen counters or table. She likes to get on the bathroom counter and drink from the sink - which is allowed. But she never even tries to get on stuff in the kitchen. She just sort of came that way - rescue cat.

Our little Tabitha not only does this, she will also bite random bottles, so when you go to grab a water, you risk getting one that will spurt water like a waterfall when it’s squeezed. We have to put ALL our extra water and soda bottles in cabinets now, because she started biting the gallon jugs of water too.

There could also be a smell or something they don't like. My cat will stop drinking water if her bowl gets even a little dirty. It will look fine, smell fine to me, but she wants it cleaned so I do, then she drinks from it.

Our cat loved to do that too! She'd get behind the bowl and push it around like a little bull dozer, and of course she sloshed all the water out of the bowl. It was funny to watch, but the water was warping my wood floor, which wasn't so funny. I got a rubber pet mat and one of those heavy ceramic pet fountains so now she leaves it alone.

A lot of cats drool then they are purring and content. They literally forget to swallow. I learned this the same way OP did... Took my kitten who was drooling excessively to the vet only for them to tell me she was happy and hadn't figured out how to swallow while purring.... instead of soaking everything around her in drool

If it's the same kitty I think it is, this kitty detests wind. I believe his mom and dad took him to the beach with their dog, and he was pulling all kinds of faces while the wind blew through his whiskers. Overall, I think his verdict was he's unimpressed with the beach. Pretty damn cute.

I TOTALLY agree! Cats, especially the moggie kind, are so beautiful in and of themselves. Cats don't need to be 'improved". I mean, people have created cats that cat breathe, whose tear ducts leak constantly. And dogs that can't bear their puppies, but have to have Caesarean sections. Face it, mankind has done a pretty horrible job improving ANYTHING! And anyone who allows their pet to get as fat as this one should be written up for cruelty to animals.

We've got our pup on a weight loss diet. She's not happy about it, but it's working. Her barrel shape has morphed back into one with a waist and hips, and her gait has returned to mostly normal. She believes we are torturing her. But she now eats all her meals, has more energy, and just seems happier. The only thing we cut out completely was people food. No tidbits. plate or pot licking. Everything else, we just reduced quantities.
