I think the chances of that happening are as big as the same happening in the US.

And a large portion of the Earth especially around the equator will become uninhabitable. Those people won't just sit there and die, they will try and move to safety. Already happening in Europe. The West has a duty to take care of them as they're the primary cause of the catastrophe but you have governments like mine (UK) actively trying to reject and criminalise people just trying to survive.

The middle class is a distraction from the plight of the 'low'-class. This is why most politicians focus on the middle class and making thier life's easier instead of helping those in the 'low'-class. Why should we help the slightly well off( this is the 'middle'-class at this point, if you have to worry about a bill being payed you are 'low'-class no matter your net worth) before helping those that if they get sick and miss a few days of work will make them homeless. Because alpt lot of people believe thier 'middle'-class when they are not and think these politicians policies will help them when that's the furthest from the truth.

Heating and cooling cycles in the earth occur naturally and has been proven over the lifespan of the earth (unless science is wrong) the create the 1% and poor to gain full control they introduce climate change and tax the c**p out of the middle class to break them into the poor. In my city we have had an abundance of rain, yes it was hot but no more than normal and I looked at my friend and said "with the abundance of water we have i wonder how they're gonna control the masses" 2 weeks later a critical water main break that for the entirety of the summer they took away swimming pools, watering, and in house water restrictions. Then like clockwork you see other cities have the exact same issue. All the places with the abundance of water mostly all north America had critical line breaks. If you can't sell the climate change story cause nature doesn't cooperate, you create your own issues to control the masses. Just saying there is a plan in play

Melting permafrost is releasing viruses and bacteria against which humans have no defense.

I'm still waiting for the inevitable day when some brilliant monster develops a weaponized disease that targets plant life. And then completely underestimates just how easily their disease spreads. There's no better way to wipe out an entire nation (or the entire planet) than to wipe out a significant chunk of plant life, and plants can't fight back.
