I know I might get downvoted but I hate all the hate the us gets for mm/dd/yyyy or not using metric or Celsius. No one was alive when that was chosen and if it were up to me I would absolutely do what the rest of the world does because it makes more sense but at this point it’s practically too late to change it. (edit: typed something wrong)

Much easier to compare dates. Of course, I prefer yyyy-mm-dd, which is fully sortable.

I prefer 23 May 2023. Unfortunately, I can't use all numbers because I'm American and no one would understand what I meant. Also, it we're talking about computer files, I use 2023-05-23 to keep them chronological.

Fun story. My ex was born on April 7, so it was written as 7/4/1971 on her passport. So of course, when she immigrated to the US, they copied the date off her passport and gave her a Fourth of July birthday! Because OF COURSE U. S. Immigration officials think everybody else in world uses the U.S. date format!

Because it leads to ambiguity, particularly on the internet. If I'm on a website and it says "Offer ends 05/02/2023" is that fifth of February (as the rest of the world sees it) or second of May (as *only* the US sees it)? I shouldn't have to spend time wondering which system is used, and as the US system makes the least sense and is the least used, we should standardise around something else. The best system is, of course, yyyy-mm-dd which is unambiguous and also makes files stay in date order when ordering by name.

No. The US just thinks its special to the point where we had to spell words differently from the English because we wanted to be different. Dumb. And yes, I am a US citizen. It is also stupid that we are the only country that doesn't use the metric system.
