My mom doesn’t know how to copy and paste so when she wants to send me a link she writes it down on the paper, takes picture and sends the photo to me. It usually looks like this except in her bad handwriting. Edited to add: I have shown her many times how to copy and paste, she can do it and then forgets by the time I walk out of the door.
We’re all capable of doing some stupid things in our personal lives. We might leave the house wearing a shirt inside out by accident or drive away while our coffee was sitting on the top of our car. But if there’s anywhere that we should be professional and on our game at all times, it’s in the workplace. While on the job, we’re getting paid to not be stupid, so to ensure that we don’t lose our jobs, most of us try to hold it together.
We don’t discuss inappropriate topics, we avoid scrolling on our phones or dressing too casually, and we get through the day by being productive, professional and safe. Well, most of us do. For those individuals who make reckless and questionable decisions while on the job, the Idiots at Work Instagram page is waiting in the wings to feature a photo of your masterpieces.

That's a pedestrian bridge over the canals at La Villete Park in Paris. That outside area is not accessible without hopping the rail. Likely the rail originally went to the outside but for safety reasons (bad cement or something) was moved in. in the left pic, more than half of the cup is in the flamingo, so it's more balanced. In the right pic, the cup is significantly taller, which WILL affect balance. The problem isn't necessarily the design of the flamingo (though it could have been better). The real problem is the size of the cup used.

Jeebus, some people just have to respond even if they have no idea what they're blathering about. First, there is no way the flame positioned there would ever ignite anything seen. Second, unsupervised?!? Who the hell took the picture genius? Third, obviously a lot of people here have never worked in a North Dakota or Wisconsin winter. OK this is one of my literal nightmares, I keep having exactly this nightmare.
Another infraction Liz says she’s had to fire employees for is selling drugs at work. One of them defended himself by noting that he never sold anything in the building, as he always used the alley instead. But unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to be able to keep his job. Another employee apparently made up his entire career history, lying about his education as well. “Never hurts to try,” he told Liz in defense.

Yes, in the village of Bornem in 2014. The railroad was closed for maintenance, they knew it, and they staged this picture for the fun of it. Went viral and now pops here and there without context and is being taken seriously by waaaaay to many people ^^ Those little ramps are used when the hose has to cross a street, so vehicles can pass over it. But not trains, obviously.

It actually takes surprisingly much to derail a train. There is an old video where they test it by taking out a larger and larger portion of the track, and unless you actually bend the track to delibrately through the train of course, you need to remove several feet of it. So I am not so sure that that would be enough to do the trick. Typically the wheels are paired two to an axle with tow axles paired in a bogie. So if you only lift one set of wheels of the track, there is a good chance that the other pair will still steer the bogie enough that the first pair will end up back on the track.

One more creative, yet still idiotic, way that an employee got fired by Liz was hiring a market research firm and paying the firm thousands of dollars before Liz realized there was no firm at all. The money was simply going to the employee’s boyfriend who was sitting at home and crafting invoices to provide to the company. The employee did all of the market research herself and handed it in under the guise of the fake firm she created. An elaborate plan, but not good enough to keep her from getting fired.

The world's tallest yew hedge at Bathurst Estate in the Cotswolds, England. This pic is from 1962 and is part of the Bettmann Archive. These days it's trimmed by a two-man team using a cherry picker, and it still takes them 12 days. I can't imagine what it must have been like doing it by ladder!

What you don't see is that the ladders are leaning against the hedge, and that rope trailing is going out to the side, not down the right, and is anchored to an dirt compacter/roller to keep them from shifting sideways in addition to the top being lashed to the other ladder. modern plastic bumpers are not really to protect you or the car in case of a collision. They give buffer time for the sensors to detect what's happening and deploy the safety systems, pretensors, airbags, pyro fuses etc etc.

Another stupid (and cruel) activity that Liz caught an employee committing was selling fellow employees a service that guaranteed their undocumented relatives green cards. This service did not in fact exist, and the employee was simply taking innocent people’s money. Liz acknowledges that people who behave stupidly in the workplace obviously have other issues they need to confront, but they’ll need to do so while not working for her.

My other ridiculous one is the handicap door that is not automatically open. You have to pull it open but it weighs about 1000 pounds. Explain to me how someone in a wheelchair is supposed to open that? I had a friend try telling me that handicap people have the world handed to them and everything is easy for them these days. I told him that as a person who is handicapped and has been on a two year waitlist for a hospital bed and a one year waitlist for a wheelchair, he can f*#k off with his c**p.

I was an ADA inspector as part of a job a long time ago. Saw much worse than this. Most businesses are pretty decent at it, and would ask for suggestions on how to improve further. The only time I had to write a notice was to the state. They put an outward swinging door on a small platform, so someone in a wheelchair had no room to open the door. -eye roll - ADA isn't an enforceable law per se, it only makes it very easy to sue non-compliant entities. It's also written rather poorly, so some ridiculous things are still compliant.

The only issue would be the cross ladder acting as a base. Though that looks OK. Stacking the step ladders is maybe the most stable way to go about it from there. They won't rock. Tilting it sideways would take effort to intentionally do so. Stack a few then compare how secure you feel on a 6 foot A ladder

The people are in front of the machine, not under it. Recognizing scale requires being familiar with relative size of it. But seriously. As far as I understand, this is for baby strollers. The stroller wheels fit the ramp, the parent/guardian uses the steps in between to walk while they're holding the stroller. Source: I'm from Russia, it's frequently built this way there and saw these in use many times.

Painted a stairwell in a 100 yr old school. Get a bunch of boards, put them on a step to level the ext ladder, viola! (I didn't use it, thankfully my coworker was more sure than I was.

There was a similar situation recently in Poland. One car was parked on a street that was renovated. Workers just put the concrete around it. At some point, the car was even covered by a tarp to protect it from damage. Why didn't they have it towed, the whole country has no idea. https://youtu.be/ulZDPlUZkeY

This reminds me of when the city put yellow lines around my apartment building to prevent people from parking in front of it, including residents. One person was parked outside of it and they put the yellow line on the sidewalk on the side of the car and then the cop wrote that person a ticket while it was being painted. Needless to say they were able to fight it out with the police chief. Just stupid. At least give people time to move their cars. 😂

Some people take pride in their recklessness. We had a scissor lift at my old job but, nut job Billy-Bob insisted on the pallet/forklift approach. In his words "we don't have time to waste moving that pile of c**p over here." This man was in his late sixties and climbed trees to do arborist work on the side. I admonished his carelessness but admired his ability to not die.

Guerrilla Marketing - can be quite effective ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guerrilla_marketing ). An ex neighbor used to work as a manager of a self storage place, and one of their signs was hung upside down. He said they had loads of people call in to tell him. Occasionally they would sign up for self storage, so it did it's job.

When I did interior buildouts the boss got us one of these. Used it twice. It was so loud and hazardous we went back to snips and a razor knife, which was quicker as well.

This one just looks like the sign fell forward. It was likely 2-sided, I've seen displays like this at many stores, including the one I work at. Sometimes whoever installed them forgets to check that the sign is secure enough, and this happens.

Is it actually chained up though? Looks to me like it's the chain for the roller door just kinda bunched up on top of the extinguisher to keep it out of the way.

This fire extinguisher is not intended to carry inside the store to fight a fire; it is mounted near the entrance/exit and is intended to be used to clear a path to the door if fire was blocking egress. Store owners do not want employees or customers to go put out a fire, they want people to be able to get out of the building.

Those that show dangerous behaviour at work - I never got why people do that. The boss, usually, is fuming once he sees it happening, yet he's the only one profiitting off of it - if he's the owner, and not just a procurists or so. People get really creative in bypassing safety measures, without any benefit for themselves, and are proud if they're so sneaky they can do it in front of the boss and not get caught. I'd violate a lot of OSHA and equivalent, would I shake my head accordingly...
