This is not to say that there are no open-minded seniors, rather, as we age, we turn to data that we have collected to make our opinions and decisions, which can be quite different from what we had thought about the same stuff 20, 10, or even 5 years ago.

Social media. I hate what it does to people and I hate the things it makes people do. So much. It used to be useful once upon a time but now social media is just a cesspool of the worst kinds of people.

How quickly things break down. Everything is cheaply made so you will have to replace it quicker. My grandmother had the same oven for 50 years. A fridge that was easily 30 years old.
Don't measure the power consumption of a 30 year old fridge, though.
I give a s**t less and less about whether people find me attractive or not, because I’m comfortable with myself more than ever.
Crowded areas. Went to the grocery store yesterday, felt uncomfortable with that many people around.
Getting wasted and partying.
I am in my early 30s and i think im okay to not party anymore for the rest of my life.
Its just that weekends are damn precious now that im working full time. When I get wasted and party, i just waste a whole sunday recovering from that.

Making appointments. For my dog, myself, my kids. Start a new patient portal. Verify your email. Try to make an appointment through their portal. Portal down for maintenance. Call. Sent to electronic voicemail, recommends online portal. Rinse and repeat. Eventually find the right formula to speak to a human, not accepting new patients/no openings for ten weeks.
Politics. It’s so polarized and feels like a clear psyop to promote us fighting amongst ourselves.
And there are many provocateurs whose only agenda is divisiveness. The sad part is that they are training up the next generation of provocateurs.

The greatest fear of "The Powers that be" is us realizing who the real enemy is. This type of statement always makes me remember the occupy movement, and how it was more class based than political, and then how rapidly it was broken down, forgotten by all sides of mainstream media, and we were all factioned off... Kinda weird...
It doesn’t seem like that. It is that. Media won’t let us compromise and get along. Our politicians are just putting on a show to pretend they’re getting stuff done, when the reality is they don’t have time to work for us and because they have to placate lobbyists and donors to keep their career. We whip ourselves into a fury chasing this thing. Our entire society is built around the assumption that everyone wants one. That it's a way to be happy.
It's not.
It's a waste of a great gift we've been given.
You enrich others. Always. If you're lucky you'll get some cream off the top. But most people won't.
They'll just pump hours of their life into the comfort of other people who had the fortune to be born into the right class of people.

Soda and other soft or carbonated drinks. They’re so sugary and awful it’s like I can imagine my teeth dissolving and my insides corroding just from drinking a bit of it. I don’t hate it with a passion and in a social occasion I might even drink some, but I always feel bad afterward and sometimes even sick.
Water is love, water is life.
My problem is, I can only drink water when it's absolutely ice cold. Drinking tepid water is awful to me. Tepid soda isn't great either, but still better.

I just want to sit on a front porch in a comfy chair, book in hand, cat(s) on lap, on a mild summer evening. And shoot buckshot at anyone who comes to bother me.
I love in the summer, when I finish work, take the dog for a walk at the dunes, down to the beach about eight in the evening, walk in the surf or have a swim, dry off and sit on a high stool at the beach shack and enjoy an ice cold beer with my earbuds listing to jazz or blues.

Rude people. Especially middle aged and elderly people who think they can get away with being rude just because of their age. I'm in my mid 50's and I hate those a******s as much as I did when I was a young person.
Shopping. As a kid and teenager there was a bunch of stuff I couldn’t have, so when I started earning money I was really enjoying buying something, if I wanted to. Now I just think that constant online shopping and the throw-away-and-repurchase-cycle makes you feel empty on the inside and hurts the environment. I’d rather have kind people and joy in my life than things
People running their mouth in the movie theater when you're trying to watch the movie that you just paid $15 to watch.
Videocalls since they inherently use the speaker phone. Nobody seems to remember when using speaker phone to talk was considered rude/lowclass

Home. I moved far away and made my own life. At the beginning I was desperately attached to my home and missed it to the core of my being. Now I realize that I left problems behind I'll never have to face again. Every visit makes me more confident in my decision. I wish the best for my friends and family, but I'm glad I got the f**k out.

Huh. When I played Delta Force and Comanche 4 20+ years ago I dreamed that someday it will be possible to play a online game with tanks, choppers, planes and what not. Then my dream came true. I like Battlefield 3 and 4. Was very interested in World of Tanks, played in closed beta and open beta and then when game came out. Now I just want to play offline, just to avoid hordes of morons which makes any game experience miserable. When I play online, very rare nowadays, I just ignore chat.
The news. 99% is clickbait or propaganda

Sweetness. The older I get, the less I can tolerate sweet stuff. Use to need a lot of sugar in my coffee, now a dash of sugar is enough and if need be, no sugar is fine too.

Yeah, I can chart my age this way. Originally sleeping bag on the ground, no pad, no tent. Move on to adding a pad, then a tent, then an air mattress, then a queen sized air mattress with real sheets and blankets, and a bigger tent.

Why has nobody said this - NATIONAL AND STATE PARKS AND NATURE IN GENERAL. Ever since Covid, there's way too many people on the trails and everywhere is crowded. No longer can I find a quiet spot to sit and enjoy nature without someone coming along and either making a huge fuss with their friends disturbing the peace or being rude as heck. There's trash everywhere. One of my local parks restricted access to a certain part because the littering got so bad from inconsiderate a-holes seeing the place on social media. It is illegal in the state of Massachusetts to fly drones, mostly because of the military base in Chicopee, you need permission to fly anything that a high tech radar can pick up, preferably a good thing because I don't want to see hundreds of those in the air being unintentionally or intentionally recorded when I'm just trying to find peace in the world... God, people are annoying.
Concerts are not a thing anymore. Still love going to them but just as much as my back and that one knee will allow it. I never understood why some people would sit at a concert. You'd miss out on the whole experience. Now I get it. I just want to sit and chat with my friends while looking at a band and still be able to move the next day.
Funny that most entries relate to negatives about people. I guess we all need to pull up our socks and learn to be better human beings? What a concept! A smile a day keeps the blues away? Be nice? I could go for all that. I'm really tired of wars and meanness in general. Born 3 months prior to the end of WW11 and now in the 2200s we've got Putin destroying Ukraine. Maybe just getting rid of megalomaniacs would fix things. I could go for that too.
I used to love pulling all-nighters reading or writing. I'm 36 years old now, that sh*t is not happening anymore. My bed time is 10:15 pm. Do not disturb my sleep!
