No matter how liberal someone is, no matter how supportive they are of social programs like universal healthcare, maternity leave, paternity leave, and the like, pretty much everyone my age and up is afraid of socialism. That is because we have some idea of the definition of socialism and that there has never been a good socialist country. By comparison, a bunch of young people are making it very difficult to get good social programs in the US because they insist on incorrectly calling it socialism, so of course the majority of people are going to oppose it. Idiots. I'm sick to death of it. They're making the country worse, not better. I want the US to be more like Norway and Iceland in their social programs. They are Democratic capitalist societies, NOT socialist countries. China is a socialist country. We don't want to be like that!

Not sure we would notice anything at all. We'd get sucked in and pulled apart so fast our consciousness couldn't pick up on it. But then there's the whole galaxies colliding and being in the wrong place when the waves from the collision of 2 neutron stars reach us. Sleep like a log.

That's absolutely true!!! All my life I've had small things disappear then later reappear in the place where they should have been all along, but were not. Especially at work, I'd take off a paper clip or rubber band, complete the task, and the paper clip or rubber band would be gone. Later on, there'd be 3 or 4 that I had not put in the same place.

Things that actually keep people (or at least me) awake: inflation eating into my social security income and then needing to decide between food and rent, having any of my siblings (all younger) die before I do, having any of my friends (all younger) die before I do, having to wear a mask for the rest of my life, being mangled but not killed in a car accident.
