Warning Sign At My Work
Spotted this gem on my drive just yesterday: IMG_3998-6...c74ae.jpeg
Yikes. I can only imagine the conversation that was had after whatever accident happened..
Just Saw This Sign At The Theater When I Was Leaving
I would love to see footage of a mugger opening that decoy purse full of angry bees. There’s a dark kind of Justice to that. Well, unless the mugger is also an apiarist, which would mean that they would simply integrate the new bees into their personal hives. Just following a thought to its ludicrous extreme.
Pro tip: follow these hints in reverse. First the bees, last lock your car.
These Pedestrian Crossing Signs Look Like Pedestrians Crossing The Street
Yeah i hate this one. The elbow sticks out far enough (behind the figure in the foreground) that someone is guranteed to smack into it and do some harm. It looks about face-height, that elbow.
I feel like some idiot would argue that they didn't have to obey it cause "it's not a real sign, it's just art."
The number one place where one might encounter signs is in and around a road system. Indeed, you basically can’t even go a mile without a handful of them in most places. These date back to the establishment of road systems in general. Throughout Europe, North Africa, and parts of the Middle East, one can still find the old Roman milestones, telling travelers just how far they had gone.
While many early signs were set up by the administrators of cities, a significant number started as a way to assist hobbyists. Early cyclers, who wanted to explore the country, would often end up going down hazardous roads without knowing it. So local cycling clubs began to put up warnings, some of which were no doubt as “threatening” as the examples here.
When You Buy The Old Neighborhood's Drug House
I once did a Larp at home in mafia style, with participants being in two cartels fighting eachother. We prepared about a hundred of little "drug" bags with powedered sugar as stealing or buying those was major part of the game plot. All larpers happily hid them EVERYWHERE. Behind panels, in the roof, between floor boards.. Couldnt even find half of them after the larp. We moved out shortly after, finding some bags when cleaning but dozens was still un accounted for. The landlord was doing major changes in the house and all appts had their interior torn out. I often wonder how confused the workers must have been about little white powder bags falling out everywhere. Noone called and asked, maybe they just stole them and tried to use 🤣
I dressed up in a Breaking Bad themed costume one year for Halloween. Hazmat suit,, Vamanos Pest tee, and complete with a baggie filled with blue rock candy. Yes, I was questioned by the cops. They thought it was funny.
Load More Replies...A few weeks after we moved in, one of our neighbors asked if we had found any stashes from one of the previous owners. We did not, but we found a window they just slapped some siding over on one side and drywall on the other. Not as fun as drugs or money, I guess.
Diana Ross used to live in Beverly Hills, on North Maple Drive. After she moved, the new owner had to post a plaque reading " Diana Ross does not live here any more "
When I got my first cell phone back around the turn of the century the number had evidently previously belonged to the local dealer. I kept getting calls like "Hey, man! This is Juan. You got the stuff, man?"
In the early 80s, when I was in 10th grade, my family moved into a house formerly inhabited by the neighborhood weed lady. People came to the door all hours of the day and night looking to buy. It took several months before word finally got around that she didn't live there anymore.
This Sign Above The Human Cadaver Lab At My University
Poignant. I am a science teacher, recently chaperoned a cadaver lab with high schoolers. The students definitely showed respect for the people who donated their beings for the benefit of the students and their knowledge. The sentiment in the sign matches the feeling in the lab.
That is wonderful to hear as a personal experience! I hope to donate my organs when I die (if they are serviceable) and my body/whatever is left to science. I obviously won't know or care how my body is treated, but it is good to hear that respect is still the way!
Load More Replies...I'm a Anatomical Donor, and those med students can laugh all they want when they're dissecting my body. I know I've laughed at it plenty of times.
I used to teach human osteology (the human skeleton) and there was both a lot of respect AND a lot of laughter in the lab. I think it's important to create learning environments where students respect that they are learning from now-dead people and also in which students feel comfortable to learn and ask questions and explore.
I don't know what it's like nowadays, but when I was at medical school, such advice was not necessary. The silence and respect for the body donors came unprompted...
I've seen numerous people kicked out of programs for being disrespectful when handling cadavers. And they rightfully deserve it.
Ominous Sign At A Disused Nuclear Bunker In Essex
I have hated mannequins my entire life. Creepy little buggers.
Business signage has a pedigree just as old as roads. Indeed, the proverb "A good wine needs no bush," likely comes from a Roman tavern. For less literate citizens, certain symbols would be used, which we might still see today, for example, the white and red of a barber’s pole and three circles for pawnbrokers.
Bucklin Trail - Killington Vermont
I hike in that area all the time and these signs are 100 percent necessary, and true! This trail is on the opposite side of Killington Peak from the ski area. Skiers go "out of bounds" in the woods to find fresh powder, and almost always end up going down the wrong side of the mountain into the middle of the state forest.
You are absolutely correct. It is a beautiful area though.
Load More Replies...At first I thought it was gonna say "The mountains will be just as cold and lonely tonight as you"
The Racoon's Choice
Many years ago, I went to the Brooklyn zoo and saw a gibbon bouncing around its enclosure on some vines before sliding down to ride on the back of a tapir that lived in the same enclosure. The look of weary resignation on that tapir's face was absolutely hilarious - I could tell the scene had been played out many, many times.
I want to know what the back story is with the pig and the racoon.........
Never, and I mean NEVER, wake a raccoon that has fallen asleep eating a discarded family size bag of Doritos. ~former day camp worker.
Light Blew Out On A Canadian Wendy’s Sign
In Chicago Near The Former Site Of The Argonne National Laboratory, An Early Site Used For The Manhattan Project
"No danger to visitors" but we are erecting six concrete corner markers and this half a ton concrete block to warn you of what's under the ground.....but absolutely nothing to worry about!
Yeah no danger to visitors as long as you don't dig. It's like saying zoos are dangerous because they have big fences around the animals.
Load More Replies...We have a former military base where a government funded national lab now operates. My mom worked there (not a scientist) so I was able to drive around when I went to visit her. They had areas surrounded by flimsy chain link fencing with warnings stating the area contained radioactive waste. The government really doesn’t give a s**t about safety.
As long as you stay on the correct side of the fence, its all ok.
Load More Replies...I love how a slight alteration in punctuation changes everything. Burial area is marked by six corner markers. 100 ft from this center point there is no danger to visitors. 😰
Does anyone remember "Love Canal" No problem folks everything is fine
These Have Always Been The Scariest Signs To Me. Those Markers Aren’t Even Close To The River. Great Falls, VA
Mt. Sentinel in Missoula, Montana has lines across it from the various water lines of the glacial lake that formed behind ice dams. Dams broke, massive wall of water flooded Washington. Missoula was 1000 feet under water 10000 years ago.
I can attest to the distance. By total surprise, my senile mother came into the room dressed to go someplace and asked if we were ready to go. We asked where. She said "Great Falls" (the park). We said "Sure." I put "Great Falls" into the GPS. For the first time in my life, she didn't constantly give directions. To her credit, she did comment that she didn't remember it taking so long to get to the park LOL. The last park she (and we together) ever visited.
That's a really lovely story, I wish I could upvote it more than once. I love that you were able to go along with the senility, as it were, and make another memory with your mother.
Load More Replies...You can still see the water line on some buildings in my town from a flood 25 years ago. Some reach the 2nd floor and are mile away from the river. Sad part is all the houses washed away closer to the river are slowly being replaced by new builds. I would not be able to sleep soundly at night. It has happened before and it will happen again.
Similar in some of the towns in Australia that had flood in the last two years. The government offered rebates for those who moved to higher ground to build, but most people chose to build in the same spot just because of sentimentality.
Load More Replies...My home town! That's a national park BTW. And yes, there is a massive waterfall - hence the name Great Falls. falls-6551...23326d.jpg
when I visited Great Falls there were guys kayaking down them. terrifying to watch and probably to do. we saw them on land afterward
we have something similar where we live in fact you can still see some of the water lines on the bridge from where it flooded like 100+ years ago. they have markers on the trails too. spooky to think about how much destruction and damage was where we currently walk to enjoy nature
I remember coming across a similar sign in New England. We thought it was a local joke since we couldn't find a body of water anywhere in the vicinity. But, according to the locals, it wasn't a joke. BTW, the sign didn't deter developers or the local town council from putting in a subdivision. Wonder if the new homeowners were warned to get flood insurance.
My Science Teacher Put This On His Door For Lab's Safety Week
Yeah I've never followed the idea that YOLO means be reckless. You only live once so make long, make it count! YES do things you want to do, but do them carefully yeah?
Load More Replies...My dad is named Clyde. He didn't wear safety glasses at the bailing machine. Now we call him "One eyed Clyde." My brother dropped the bucket of a loader on his foot almost severing it. Now when I fall up the stairs, I don't feel so bad.
I've worked with grown adults who refused to wear goggles, face masks, and respirators. Watched one guy slowly dissolve into stage 4 lung cancer because of his foolish behavior. Take YOLO seriously, because you do only live once.
I Wish This Sign Had "Aaaaaaaa!" Caption
I had the plovers swooping me bad a few weeks ago. I mean, I was already packing emergency kits and door knocking the neighbours with bushfire evacuations... do we really need more stress from plovers? Aaaah, Australia.
Load More Replies...Is that a harpy? Because is sure isn't a picture of a magpie, goose or plover.
It’s an owl. These are signs they have up at Bush Park in Salem, Oregon https://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/2015/02/12/angry-owl-signs-installed-bushs-pasture-park/23303847/
Black birds are very territorial, especially during breeding season. If you walk by their nests, they will dive bomb you, which is why so many joggers wore helmets on their route.
When It's So Bad You Need A Sign
The sad thing is that there have been actual incidents of parents permitting children to play in water clearly marked as an alligator or crocodile danger and children have suffered the consequences. Same with people who needlessly walk small pets by the edge of gator-infested waters. Additionally, this stupidity often results in the death of the animal for just following its instinct and taking the easy prey.
Does it apply to ex-babies too? Like a*****e bosses, a*****e neighbors, and overall a*****e people like drumpf and Musk, for instance?
I wish parents were held responsible for the deaths/maiming of their children at these parks and zoos instead of killing the poor animal. Why parents don't put their kids on a leash in these places is beyond me. Kid would have limited freedom and get to home afterwards.
Weird "Are You Dreaming" Sign Found In A Psychologist's Waiting Room
Look at your hand. Our brains are stupid and can't make a hand. If your hand looks weird you're probably dreaming.
Load More Replies...Try reading something or using your phone. You will almost certainly be unable to.
Here to say this. Read something then try and read it again. It's usually enough to wake you up, because it's never the same thing twice.
Load More Replies...That's highly inaccurate. I usually don't look like "me" in my dreams. Even my gender is random but it always feels like that it is me.
I can't due this considering I never have vivid dreams and I can't control my dreams
Has anyone looked in a mirror while dreaming and if so, what did you look like? This also does not work when on a bad acid trip
I had a dream where I looked into the mirror and was an average looking larger black woman and I remember being completely happy with what I looked like. I grew up in a town where white people were the minority and so I didn't want to be white because of how I was treated by many kids. I think in the same dream or it was around that time where makeup was put on me to make me black and I was so much more beautiful though it magically altered my bone structure too. The dreams were when I was an adult so it's a long lasting thing to not be happy with your own skin color when you get bullied because of it.

I used to live in a beach town near Chicago. Every Spring/Summer, we would have people coming from Chicago who don't know how to swim & don't know about the currents. So every year, you get sad news stories about how they found a body or they sent out search & rescue for some person.
Im in the midwest. Its sooo common in summer they warn ppl to stay out of the water due to currents. Ppl still dont listen. My fam helped teach me to swim in them when i was 12-13 (mild currents) so ik how to get out if stuck. For those who dont know swim slowly n calmly parallel/diagonal to the shore. Let the waves do most of the work of pushing you to shore. If you grow tired wade in place for a few mins before continuing
Load More Replies...It doesn't say the unseen currents are in the water, it says don't go near the water. 0.0
Yeah, that's what got to me most as well. Don't go near the water..
Load More Replies...This isn't a warning to stay out of the water, they don't want you anywhere near it!
A co-worker went there to take a look but couldn't because of the emergency workers there responding to someone being pulled out into the current.
Found One In The Wild
Golly, you're right. I hadn't realised how few countries around the world use 000 as an emergency phone number. Even New Zealand is different. Australia is one of the few countries in the world where you're unlikely to find any unexploded ammunition.
Load More Replies...My dad knew a guy who was severely maimed thanks to having found an old hand grenade as a kid and deciding to play catch with it. Blinded and missing most of one arm, among other things.
During ww2, one of my grand father found a german bullet in a field by his house. He "thought" (with his 13yo brain) it would be "funny" to settle it on a barb wire and hit it with a hammer to see what happen. He was lucky to only lose his middle finger.
Load More Replies...Unexploded ammunitions is a common problem in so many parts of the world.
What kind of ammunition are we talking about here? Rounds from assault rifles and machineguns? From autocannons? From howitzers... ?!
Usually it's from artillery practice in a public area that used to be a military training site. Sometimes it's an old grenade, but usually it's a shell at least as big as your forearm.
Load More Replies...We have something similar here in Sweden, tank training range. Same kind of warnings.
If its an old site it will be surface cleared and warning put up, usually with a note not to dig. Problem is people go collecting unexplode ordnance for scrap metal. They will then cut them and remove the old explosives and turn in the metal. Thing is, it doesn’t always work that way. Where Last worked the Impact area had been in use since the Spanish American war. Certain people would collect sabot pedal’s and would also get UXOs. One family had kids playing with a 40mm HEDP dud and they kept twisting it and throwing it. It went off, killed two, injuried several. Two weeks later, they caught the same family back in the impact area doing the same thing. BTW its illegal to collect Duds.
Door At Calarts
I am guessing it has something to do with the bureaucratic expense of permitting involved with making a structural change to a building that has possibly had an historical landmark designation, or some such. This would require bringing certain things up to modern code, such as width and pitch of stairways, etc. that would cascade throughout the structure. Just hang a sign.
Load More Replies...Reminds me of taking acid and going into a fireman's practice tower. Mucking around with friends, then opened a door a couple of floors up, just a free fall drop to the ground 25M below. Eye opener for sure.
At my work there's a door in the back of a walkin freezer that has a sign that says "STOP! New Seasons through this door". For some reason there's a door in a FREEZER that leads to New Seasons' production kitchen. We call that section of our plant Narnia.
This must be the other side of that door I saw at the Winchester Mystery house. It opened outside onto a very long drop into the rose bushes.
To me, the scariest part is actually the HUGE 🔒 and the rusty mini⛓️...one or two strong blows and that's it for both...
In addition, the door opens inwards so the entire construction is completely pointless in terms of safety. 🤭

I am glad I declined any part. As far as I am concerned - they waved a magic wand - his body turned to ash and they placed it in an urn all while soft music was playing. ( It is MY picture that gives ME comfort - the end)
Load More Replies...apparently the muscles contract and the corpse sits up while burning.
The muscles also shrink after a while when expossed to heat, that's why burn victims are usually found in a fetal position after fires
Load More Replies...When I die I want my body left in the woods for the scavengers.
You could go to a body farm (I think that's what they're called) and your body would be studied for research, kill two birds with one stone. 🙂
Load More Replies...My "little" brother died in an accident in Thailand many years ago. I went to Bangkok to sort out the final procedures. Because I couldn't afford to bring his body home he was cremated in a Buddhist temple there. I stayed until the end. I didn't see, hear or smell anything horrible, must've been how the facility was constructed maybe? But I couldn't bear to leave my brother until the very last. He was only 28.
I thought there were curtains that kept you from actually seeing the entrance.
There are, this is "behind the scenes". Don't worry. Attending a cremation has no noise, sight or smell issues at all.

Some Good Advice In The Big Island Of Hawaii
It's not the melted red hot rock that's the problem. The lava cools quickly and makes these fields that look on the top like cow pats, but underneath are brittle and full of tunnels. People walk onto the lava field, thinking it's solid ground, and then it gives way and they end up in a tunnel full of seawater. Near impossible to rescue because of the risk of rescuers making more tunnel collapses.

A Sign At My Local Nursing Home
This is likely a secure dementia wing. Very understandable. Not cursed at all.
My 80-something friend Benny was trying to leave a nursing home once after visiting a friend, and a new staff member who didn't know him tried to restrain him. It took the intervention of the nurse in charge to get him out of there.
Also, there's a story about Admiral Nimitz on Guam in WWII. He was out running wearing white shorts and a tee shirt, and his communications jeep was keeping back a ways. When the jeep caught up, two men were trying to load him into a van from the local asylum. "I'm Admiral Nimitz." Sure you are, sure."
Load More Replies...When my late dad was in the dementia ward, the entire wall and door was seamlessly wallpapered to look like a book shelf, it was locked and you were given a 4 digit code to enter and exit. The trick was knowing where the door was after entering the code and getting out before the light turned red on the console, fun times but very clever.
This is normal. People with dementia escape secure facilities with remarkable frequency.
Load More Replies...At my grandparents nursing home they had a code for the front door (as well as telling you not to let residents out) printed to one side of the door. This was apparently all that was needed, because someone with dementia etc was very unlikely to realise the code was there and be able to use it.
"Stop Extreme Heat Danger" Warning Sign, Death Valley National Park, California, United States
You'd think the fact that it's called Death valley would be warning enough.
You would be amazed at how foolish and stupid some people can be. Do your homework before visiting places that have real life dangers attached to them, people. You will NOT be the exception.
Load More Replies...I went to death valley once! It was really pretty. And extremely hot 🥵
I had to drive across it once in a car with no air conditioning in the middle of summer. It was so hot that my cat was actually panting! I had him covered with a cold towel to try and keep him cool. It was terrifying! We both made it out OK.

I don't think you tell the extreme heat danger to just stop. I know, that was horrible.
I almost died that way once. That means I know what being almost dead feels like
This Warning Sign
When I was a kid, our neighbor hit our elderly Great Dane in the head with a shovel, all because she walked onto "his portion of the sidewalk" in front of our houses. Wish they'd posted the IRL address of this dog killer so I could mail my dogs' poop bags to the d-bag >:(
Load More Replies...If a dog attacks people or livestock it can legally be killed in self-defense or defense of others. It may be a cuddle buddy to you, but to the other person it can be an aggressive threatening animal endangering human lives or livelihoods. Keep control of your dogs and you won't have to worry about putting up a sign. I've been threatened by dogs dozens of times while hiking on public trails or walking on public sidewalks. Most dogs are chill but some are aggressive and should be kept in a secure yard at home. I was attacked once and injured badly. I'm not going to let that happen again. My health is more important to me than your animal's life.
My uncle once shot an escaped pet ginuea pig with a shotgun in his yard because it was on his property. I know about this because he was joking how funny it was that it exploded. Psychos exist and you sound like you're projecting.

But I have such impulse to touch everything, ESPECIALLY if I am bleeding!
But I really want to share my blood-born pathogens with everyone!
Yeah, some people don't quite realize how easy it is to contract illnesses by coming into contact with someone's blood. So please don't touch things unnecessarily if you're bleeding.
Well, there was the time I was spurting blood all over everything. I don't think a band-aid would've covered it.
What if my arm is hanging off? Can I touch it then? ... A band-aid might be a bit useless though
Yes, will be with you in 5 minutes to an hour, no I don't care if your head's bleeding.

This Sign At My Local Hospital
It's a sign in a UK hospital, there is a big issue with some public building being discovered to be made from crumbling concrete. Schools, hospitals etc. are at risk from concrete used in the 60's that we've now realised it not very safe. Here is an article from the hospital where this sign is from https://eastangliabylines.co.uk/crumbling-concrete-in-our-regions-hospitals/
Call and tell 'em what you hear. They will respond quickly and move you to a area where you won't hear the walls talking to you anymore...
In a German Hospital a mentally ill person vanished and was found after he fell through the ceiling (as far as I remember he crawled in some Ventilation Tunnel?).
I worked for a public school maintenance facility. A school's alarm went off in the middle of the night. The police got there withing a few minutes but did not find anyone. !0AM the next morning the potential thief came down from the drop ceiling and ran out.
When the Tory party has other "pressing" issues besides funding the NHS, it's up to the people to keep track of failing infrastructure.

On A Commercial Waste Bin
Sadly people don’t always follow this. When I was 15 there was a 17 year old kid who ran away in the ICU next to me. He fell asleep in one of these and the garbage truck didn’t see or hear him and began crushing the garbage, and him. Both his legs had to be amputated below the knee. Be safe people.
In America? I know our ones in the UK weigh the bins to see if it is abnormally heavy, but they suspect that’s what happened to a young serviceman, Corrie McKeague, for some reason the lorry didn’t detect the extra weight and no trace was ever found of him.

He gave my friend $40 and asked him to just forget it happened. ⁹
New fear unlocked 😬 I will never go near a dumpster ever again.
I’ve seen this one before! It really makes you think about the fact that if a sign is there, that usually means someone has tried something before 😟
What is it about the bins in the UK? Remember the story about that poor man who got his head stuck in a bin, and no one helped him because they were too busy uploading their video onto the internet?
I work on the hydraulics on trash trucks. The craziest thing about all these incidents is there are two cameras that the driver is supposed to be watching while emptying the containers. And there are still so many incidents. The pressure settings on the pendulum is set at 2800-3000 psi (pounds per sq inch)
Just Had this Happen Last Week in Vancouver British Columbia,Canada!!Guy & his Dog & he was 67 Years Old!!
Can confirm this one; just last week I was waiting at a shop to have a car tire replaced and the trash truck came for the bin and there was someone dumpster-diving at that moment. The diver yelled or something and the truck stopped and no one was injured. I could see the whole thing out of the window by the waiting area.
Found In A Small Rural NZ Town
Translates to "Only shoot after you clarified that your target is not your mate."
Reminds me of the time D**k Cheney, then Vice President of the United States, shot a guy in the face while hunting.

In my state, the department of transportation was required by state lawmakers to put up signs that read "Do Not Drink From Toilets or Urinals Non-Potable Water" in their rest areas at one point. They had the sings made and put a few up before the law was rescinded and they were required to take them down. I now have one of these signs that was never installed in my living room because I find it amusing. Maybe there's a story or maybe it's just somebody trying to cover their butt so they have no liability if a story does manage to come about.
Why would the law be rescinded? You’re not supposed to drink non-potable water. It’s in the name.

Don't Feed The Squirrels In Zion National Park
My grandmother told the story about the time a squirrel fell out of a tree onto a little girl’s head. The squirrel freaked out and so did the child. The squirrel began clawing at her scalp and hair. My grandmother said she would never forget the little girl’s screams. The doctors had a hard time closing her scalp. She had so many stitches and staples and she was scarred for life physically and emotionally.
I imagine she would be scared to walk under trees afterward but wearing a hat should help add protection.

Wild animals may be cute looking, but if they’re spooked and panicking, they can do as much—-or more—-damage as a spooked and panicking human being—-and that’s a high bar, considering how much damage humans do even when they’re not spooked and panicking.
ive fed squirrels before, they were chonky and would let you pet them. I named one chungus. <3
The location of the squirrels affect how used to humans they are. I like in a village and squirrels run away. I went to an urban park and they were very used to humans and were more tame.

Sleeping Bear Dunes
"may" is the big word here. It depends on age, physical ability, & weather conditions. And how fast or slow you go.
And the fact that you can't grab a foothold in sand. Pay attention to the signs, they weren't put there to break up the view.
Load More Replies...Been there. Running/sliding/falling down is fun as a kid - and climbing back up isn't impossible. Last time I was there, in my 40's it was a big no from me.
Sand is not known as having great gripping-qualities. I'd heed the sign...
I saw a girl slide down the dune then proceed to climb back up as if this was her daily workout. She’s a super hero. That was not an easy climb!
The problem with Sleeping Bear Dunes is that it honestly doesn't look that far down but it's an optical illusion, it's very far down.
The tallest is barely over 500'. When I was 35 I could do 2 miles with 1500' of elevation gain in an hour. The problem with the dunes is that they're steep and made of sand, not the height.

This is Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada (most photographed lighthouse in Canada and I believe, in the world). They rebuilt the walking area to allow for wheelchairs and strollers with appropriate roped off areas. These signs are everywhere. And yet, people still insist on walking on the rocks, really close to the ocean and when the waves are at their highest. This year wasn't bad (it was very rainy and we had maybe 2 weeks of sun so less tourists visiting) but during really sunny summers the air ambulance going over my house (I live about 20 min east of Peggy's Cove) nearly daily is a thing. And it's a sad and preventable thing. :(
I was just about to ask if that's Peggy's Cove. Such a beautiful place. I have a picture of myself there from when I was 15. :)

Three guys with pistols were waiting there. Just before entering the restaurant, they cut the building's landline. (This was before the advent of cell phones.) Then they rushed in and rounded up all the staff, corralling them into a back room. They took the evening's cash from the office. Finally, the robbers forced (at gunpoint, mind you) all the staff - waitresses, cooks, manager, etc. - to strip down to their underwear, collecting their wallets, purses, and jewelry in the process. After the robbers fled, the staff waited in that room for 10-15 minutes, as they had been told. Then the manager and a cook, wearing only their tighty-whities, jogged down the road to a neighboring convenience store, where they phoned the police.
I have seen this sign on many fast food restaurant chain back doors. I think many chains have that on ALL their back doors - it is a GOOD safety measure.

Concur. Our dear friend gravity ensures that all ways down are easy.
Load More Replies...I used to do this route a LOT when I lived in Cape Town and still do it when I visit (which is quite regularly). It is not an easy way down (or up) if you are afraid of exposure and heights and there are a few bits where straying a few feet can put you into a 2000 foot vertical freeway to the rocks below. There are sections requiring using metal chains and handholds down some near vertical drops, which can be super tricky in damp or foggy conditions. The route is called India Venster (India Window) and starts at the lower cable station, then wends it's way up a route that pretty much follows the path of the cableway until you reach a ledge area where you switch around to the back of the mountain on a long horizontal stretch that doesn't climb much but takes you all the way to the cafe at the top, dlubling back on itself once you reach the top. Beautiful, but challenging for those not used to it. About 2 hrs for the unfit - 70 minutes for the superfit who know the route well.
I disagree. It IS easy and fast...just not safe, recommended, or survivable

Road Sign Near My House Is Both Blank And Covered In Bullet Holes
That's definitely not a blank sign, the front part is covering the actual wording, which is most likely weather/situation-related. You'll find signs like that all over (in the US at least) high water, icy roads, specific animal mating/migration times, etc.. The signs are pointless for most of the year, so it's just easier to preserve the lettering by covering it up when not needed, rather than putting new signs up all the time.
Not blank - we have one that when dropped, it warns of flooded road.
This is a phase most country kids go through. Gotta shoot up road signs.

Sign Above A Kids' Bathing Pool In South Africa
What else am I meant to do with the shark when I've finished with it?
So im confused why are there sharks in a kids pool? Why would anyone throw them in? If there are sharks already in there whats the harm of tossing in more?
It's a tidal pool, so the pool consists of sea water and is actually part of the sea (it's part of the sea at high tide, but a separate little pool of water at low tide), so that's probably why there are sharks around this area.

But given the recent successful transplant of a complete eyeball, maybe in 10-20 years? Note: Looks like the eye is healthy after about 2 months or so. Connected to muscles and blood vessels. Recipient still cannot *move* the eye, but that may come in time. I understand they made an attempt to connect the optic nerve, and it apparently sorta worked, but the recipient cannot see out of that eye. At the very least, it will take time for the eye and brain to learn how to handshake across that connection, and I'm sure they have a lot of work to do to make that part of it work, but progress is being made. The recipient had a live wire go off in their face, and also needed a partial face transplant.
I think it would just be best to wear the goggles.

Parking Across The Street From A Playground
Looks like Australia again. Eucalyptus trees do lose limbs on occasions. Recently my brush box tree lost a limb that blocked half the road and was too heavy for two men to shift, thankfully missing a parked car nearby. What I object to, really object to, is forcing school children to stand in the really hot sun rather than under a tree where it's shady.
I had just moved into my new house, and as the garage was filled with boxes, I was parking under an elderly pecan tree. Very good pecans, I'm told. I came home late one evening to find a substantial, vehicle-destroying limb parked in my spot. I dragged it out of the way, and moved enough boxes so I could park in the garage.
I parked here once....my left leg and right arm immediately stopped working until i moved my car elsewhere...it was weird

A pet cat, when allowed outside, may have a life span of under 5 years, shorter if unaltered. An indoor cat can live from 10 to 20 years. The last cat that I had who died, died at 19. We've had one that made it to 22, and the rest made it to 17 and 18.

According to Bill Kohi, national president of the New Zealand Institute of Animal Management, you are only allowed to kill a dog if it's on your property and you catch it in the act. The law allows you to either seize - so catch that dog - or if that's not possible you are entitled to shoot the dog - destroy the dog - as long as it's done humanely. You can't do both". So either kill or capture but you're not allowed to kill after capture.
