Maddie Ziegler, Melissa McCarthy, Here Are The 16 Oddest Celebrities Looks From The 2024 SAGs
In the words of the late fashion savant Joan Rivers: "I don't want to be called an icon. I want to be called an entertainer." In terms of being entertaining, the celebrities did remarkably so over the weekend.
The 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards took place on Saturday (February 24) at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California.
And besides honoring the best achievements in film and television performances for the year 2023, it also gave a platform for workers in the show-biz industry to showcase their most lavish outfits.
Take Beef actress Ali Wong, for example, who not only took home the trophy for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie at the 2024 SAGs but also graced the red carpet with a spectacular gown that looked like a peacock.
Other celebrities displayed even stranger looks, which Bored Panda took the time to meticulously point out.

Rachel Brosnahan
Rachel Brosnahan stood out in an eclectic Tamara Ralph gown.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star’s metallic dress created a somewhat disorienting visual effect under the bright flashes of the cameras.
This dress looks awesome. Flattering, classical beauty yet still very attention-grabbing.
It looks amazing in a still. I guess the problem is that it's reflective or refractive once you have flashing lights so it trips out digital cameras. You can sort of see it from the moire patterns visible in the photo above.

Danielle Brooks
Danielle Brooks arrived in an unconventional Christian Siriano design that was part tuxedo and part gown.
The 34-year-old actress’ chaotic outfit also featured massive purple-and-black ruffles.
The ruffles looks like an invertibrate sea creature eating her leg.
This is not weird (to me). Although that skirt could have been executed better.
Asante Madrigal
Asante Madrigal sported a black sparkly suit with a bold baroque pattern reminiscent of the intricate designs often seen on luxurious upholstery.
This one is a win, not a fail. The pattern is very boisterous and flamboyant, but its balanced by the profile-its a sleek, understated outline, and with the pared-back basic trousers, it works really well. If it had a busy pattern and a fussy outline with lots of pleats, gathers, flounces, fancy belts etc, that would have looked bad, but styled as he is, it looks great.
One does not wear socks with slippers, ever

Alex Borstein wore a dress adorned with contrasting patterns and an ample slit gracing one side of the skirt, embellished with a streak of blue that seemed disconnected from the overall black ensemble.
Wearing sheer black hose would have improved it. The blue looks so disjointed-I know designers want to make a statement, but this is just uncomfortable to look at. Maybe a much richer, darker navy/blue-black would have worked. She has quite a boxy body shape (NOT body shaming, just saying she has a rectangular torso with a waist that's not too well defined. With her slim hips, I think she'd look better in a dress that widened out from the waist rather than a straight column dress style.
Same. You described what I was thinking. Somehow you got downvoted for this. It's positive critique.
Load More Replies...Not it doesn't. Wrong body shape for this dress. And the blue is not dark enough to play well with the black.
Load More Replies..."a streak of blue that seemed disconnected from the overall black ensemble" no it doesn't. there is blue trim around the waist, cuffs and neck too and that connects it.
Not very flattering. In fact I'd say she "looka like a man". :) (This is a joke based on a character she used to play. She's hilarious.)
Phylicia Pearl Mpasi
Phylicia Pearl Mpasi’s silver gown had an intriguing texture reminiscent of metallic foil with delicate hints of red.
"Delicate hints of red?" I've seen more subtle hints of red at a Soviet military parade.
Melissa McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy wore a form-fitting gown that gave the interesting allure that she had wrapped herself in tinfoil.
Along with Billie Eilish, the 53-year-old actress presented the award for Outstanding Female Actor in a Comedy Series.
Most of the dress is actually very nice, but UGH the arms! Why???
I can get past the arms, that neckline with the rest of it though.
Load More Replies...no offense, love her, but she kinda looks like she would unhesitatingly hurt you in this photo?
My mind fails to understand who the people around these celebrities are who advise them that looks such as this one are truly flattering. I adore Melissa McCarthy and simply know there are much better choices for her.
She's normally really well dressed for red carpet events, she's worn some gorgeous outfits before, but heaven knows how she came up with this one. She's so pretty, and even when she was bigger, she had an hourglass shape with a neat waist. This dress makes her look shapeless, and she's not at all.
Tan France
Tan France arrived in what appeared to be an uncompleted suit with an extremely long and thin bow tie.
I can't quite discern all the reasons this guy looks stupid as hell, but his ducklip smirk doesn't help when his tie looks like a wii remote sensor bar.
I was thinking it looks more like a plane propeller but either way. Honestly, it's just the tie that ticks the "weird" box. Everything else looks fine.

Maddie Ziegler wore a peculiar piece from Alexander McQueen's spring 2003 collection, which was pulled from Shrimpton Couture.
The Dance Moms star sort of looked like she had been decorated with strips of streamers or ripped tissues.
The dress looks like she fell off a ship and washed up on the beach a day later
Looks like she wore one of those toilet paper dresses they make at bridal showers into a bathing shower.
Oh dear. But looking on the bright side, anyone struggling to buy a costume for Halloween this year can just drape shredded toilet paper over themselves and say they're cos-playing as Maddie.
Not a fan of this one. Looks like she was attacked by several cats that shredded her outfit.
I was also thinking that cats had contributed to this dress
Load More Replies...She's been in several movies as well as most of Sia's music videos. She was on Dance Moms when she was a kid.
Load More Replies...Laverne Cox
Laverne Cox wore an asymmetrical coat from Alexander McQueen‘s fall 1996 “Dante” collection, which was originally modeled by Helena Christensen.
The Orange Is The New Black star layered her outfit in a cluttered bra-baring ensemble.
Laverne looks wonderful no matter what she wears. Actually, I would like to see her in plain old footie jammies.
Joey King
Joey King wore a nude chiffon Givenchy gown that was reminiscent of the 1990s in the most jumbled way possible.
It looks great on her, flawlessly matching her skin tone, make up and hair. It wouldn't look great on most other people though.
I agree. She could have done without the gloves though.
Load More Replies..."reminiscent of the 1990s in the most jumbled way possible." Nailed the description!
That's a very ugly dress! She would have looked stunning in a brighter color.
Joey King is gorgeous but could her stylist have done something better with her hair? It looks like it's not even brushed!
Elaine Welteroth
Elaine Welteroth wore a black strapless dress with long black gloves and a large gold ostentatious holiday gift-style bow.
"When I design a dress, I'm gonna put pockets! Huge, HUGE pockets! And they're going to be made of GOLD!!!!" JK on this one... looks great
Nischelle Turner
Nischelle Turner’s black gown, adorned with an unusual pattern, had an intriguing design that accentuated a voluminous fabric, hiding most of her body.
I was thinking it was nice... until I read you. Now I can't unsee it 🤣
Load More Replies...Cara Jade Myers
Cara Jade Myer wore a vibrant Jontay Kahm gown that certainly commanded attention in a bold neon ensemble.
Killers of the Flower Moon actress’ dress featured vibrant hues of pink, yellow, and orange, along with unconventional tassel accents, creating a disordered statement.
She looks like a dancer playing a bird in one of those wierd recycled '70s scenes they use in classic Sesame Street.
on the topic of birds, i thought of a phoenix

Chris Perfetti
Chris Perfetti wore Jimmy Choo shoes and a brown suit from the Los Angeles-based label Grayscale, which looked like a prom ensemble from the 1980s.
Oh, God.... he looks like an elf got a job as a bellhop at a hotel run by UPS.
Add a layer of frills down his shirt, and that's definitely high school prom.
Lisa Ann Walter
Lisa Ann Walter showed up in a revealing gown that featured some shambolic cutouts that left little to the imagination.
That dress is on its way to a nip slip! And why is only one boob busting out?
The holes are not flattering. They would work better if they matched her contours better
Bet if some skinny waif had worn it, it would be on the best dressed list...
This just emphasizes her two very different sized breasts. Not a good look.
Unlikely to be different sized, just unfortunate wardrobe placement.

Don't these people look in a mirror before leaving their home? Some are awful and bring the person down, others are too revealing with a mishap (or two) waiting to happen, and others needed a better color scheme. I would prefer people showing us what they are working on (wood, painting, crafts, etc.) than this trash.
Most of these look classy and beautiful, not "weird" and "odd" as the title/url imply.
