My son was behind someone in line at Walmart who didn't have enough money for his candy bar and the cashier was like "Really? You don't have $1.25?" loudly in front of everyone! Luckily my son is a good guy and bought it for him and told off the cashier. How rude!
That is rude and unnecessary. Good on your son for showing her the errors of her ways. Sick of these cashiers who think they're so much better than the poor people they serve.

Me literally every time I go to the store. That anxiety is gonna put me out one of these days.

That feeling when the last of your 10 credit cards is approved - but only because you had to put half of the groceries back.
There's been times I swore I had enough in my account and then some point along the way from my home and to the store, to the till, the bank decides it wants my money and I get declined. Or when I use my credit card, that shows money available but declines because they failed to say the money is still being processed. I hate banks.

Yeah. I get paid once a month, so my account goes from really high to really low pretty quickly. EVERY month the bank (BOA) decides that a regular payment (or a few) won't be paid because of "unusual activity."

I think it's just as bad if you have enough money to cover the purchase, but the card reader doesn't like your card, so you have to either get cash or pay at another terminal. Happens at my work alot

My grandmother does that despite having plenty of money, she also cuts up toothpaste and lotion tubes to get it all. She is the good kind of frugal, but I still wish she'd spend more money on herself.

Massachusetts had a health insurance system for residents long before the Affordable Care Act. Mass Health helps low income residents; those with higher income can get insurance through Mass Connector. Everybody has access to healthcare. The system is far from perfect, but much better than what you describe.

Just buy a jar of Nescafe and add hot water. Cheap, but it's still coffee. Does the same job - gives you just enough energy from breakfast till you get to work. Then have another one. 9 or 10 of them a day should do the trick, and you'll save a fortune on expensive coffees.

Looks like me realising my holiday/vacation is clearing the garage and working in the garden, instead of going somwhere hot and sunny. Trust me, that means a lot in Ireland, when you have spent the last 9 months enduring wind, cold rain and darkness. Ireland is not all green for no reason. Yup, that is how most of us live. The first of every month I have money transferred to my savings account and take out $50 cash. Every month I hope the money will still be there at the end of the month. But without fail there is an unexpected expense. I should be thankful I have emergency money set aside, but I feel like a failure since I cannot save. Most Americans have less than $400 saved, not because we are lazy or irresponsible; our incomes don't cover our expenses. Credit cards and loans make it even more difficult. I was forced to declare bankruptcy because of excessive medical bills. No loans or credit cards since. I watch every penny. The next generations have it much worse. Dental care is a luxury we can't afford. New, better medications aren't affordable, so again we do without. There is something very wrong with our financial system.
Watching retirement account dwindle down to scary amount. Will it last???
