Iconic places and moments immortalized in photographs often remain that way in our memories. When we think of The Mona Lisa painting, we often imagine it hanging in The Louvre. Our first association with Christ The Redeemer is probably a picture taken from the ground or up in the air, not from the statue's shoulder.

But we here at Bored Panda like to show you things from a different perspective. That's why we've collected some pics of iconic places and things that have been taken from unusual angles. Get ready to see famous landmarks, celestial bodies, and simple everyday things like you've never seen them before!

How big a telescope? Mine resolves a dot where you can see the rings if you squint. That's still pretty cool, mind you, imagine being the first person to see that and you'd be like "nah, must be a bug on the lens".

About four years ago, we had a sunset that literally turned everything orange! The whole sky, and clouds were orange too! My grandson's, came running out of their room to tell me. We went outside to take pictures, and the oldest said; Nia, God is eating dream sickles, and it's dripping all over everything! I just Love his analogy....

It's called the terminator regardless of where you are, but because of the atmosphere it's not at all obvious from close to the surface. This image was taken from much farther away, so the line is even more distinct. untitled-6...ad7d19.jpg untitled-681feaaad7d19.jpg

The Terminator- sunset -refers to the line or twilight zone that separates the daylit and night sides of a planet, including Earth. It marks the boundary where the sun is setting or rising, creating a unique visual phenomenon where day and night meet.

We're used to seeing airplanes with seats, so the picture of the inside of a plane without them seems somewhat strange. There are currently no seatless commercial airplanes (those exist only in April Fool's jokes), but plane seat sizes are definitely shrinking.

One aviation expert has calculated just how much seat space has shrunk over the years. Since the 1980s, America's biggest domestic carriers have lost from 2 to 5 inches in legroom space. Seat width has also shrunk by 2 inches. When the Federal Aviation Administration asked consumers for feedback in 2022, many described flying as "t*****e."

The "dark side of the moon" is another thing we don't usually see. Although it definitely seems dark in pictures, it's not actually dark. Scientists call it the farside, and the side that we can see – the nearside. Although today, we know what the farside looks like, we will never see it from Earth.

Why is that exactly? As John Keller, deputy project scientist for NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter project, explains, "The moon is tidally locked to Earth." It goes around the Earth at the same speed as it rotates around its axis. So, the same side is always turned toward us.

Continuing the space topic, many of us have probably never seen inside of a spacesuit. The one that's on this list is most likely a Russian Orlan, a one-piece suit that an astronaut climbs into. American EMUs (Extravehicular Mobility Units) are usually made with two parts.

The backpack that we see open in the picture contains oxygen, a fan that moves the oxygen around the suit, a carbon dioxide removal system, a water tank to cool the astronaut, and an electrical system that powers everything.

Some suits also have a thruster pack that astronauts may need to use to fly back to the space station in case of an emergency during a space walk.

The picture taken on the arm of Christ the Redeemer sure looks cool, but it's hard to capture. Not everyone can just walk up to the statue and climb it. Unless you know someone who works there, the chances to get to the very top of the statue's head are slim.

Inside, there are 12 flights of very fragile stairs that can lead you to the arms of the statue. You can exit through two openings that construction workers use when they have to make repairs.

Still, to make this climb, you'd need the permission from the Guardian of the Sanctuary and the Bishop. Since the Christ statue is a sanctuary, you'd probably have to know someone inside the Church.

Oh my. It was for space things that O rings were created. Look at the edge of the seal to the front compared to the outer part where the 2 close together. It reminds me of a bike light I was trying to put back together yesterday and the little yellow oval ring would not stay in until I got something to mash it in completely, aka “get it seated properly so I could close it up.”

Almost everybody knows what the Statue of Liberty looks like; either up close or from a distance. There are tours that take people up to the crown of the statue, and you have to climb a double helix stairway to get to it. There are about 20 flights of stairs in the Statue of Liberty, but the public can't get to the very top: the torch. It's been closed to the public since 1916.

Absolutely named after Brocken mountain! It is also called "Blocksberg" in Germany, and a mythological place where witches meet for dancing. Also they have fog on 300 days of the year, so this phenomenon is seen quite often.

That's called a bow tie joint, or a butterfly joint. It's partially inlayed wood that spans cracks or joints in boards to keep them together. The shape prevents separation even over a lot of time or under stress. They're very efficient and have been used for centuries, but take a lot of precision and skill to execute properly. I suspect there must be a crack forming under that patch.

Today, many Americans probably can't imagine the Lincoln Memorial without the reflecting pool. But for a few years after construction of the Memorial was finished, there was no pool. The landscape that we see in the "before" pictures features wetlands and mudflats of the Potomac River. In 2012, the pool was also restored because it was slowly sinking, causing leaks and cracks.

Why is it disrespectful? It's just a statue of a mythical figure. It's also actually got walkways, stairs, and maintenance ways built INTO it. It's actually entirely possible - if not difficult - to climb up through the statue and go out onto its arms via maintenance hatches. https://riodejaneirobycariocas.com/how-to-get-to-the-head-of-christ-the-redeemer-statue/

That studio gets used for a lot of very different recordings. Without the green screen people have to be paid to stay up all night not just repainting the floor but making sure the surface doesn't reflect incorrectly, has the right texture, etc. And it needs to be dry and stable enough by morning for heavy recording gear and sets to be wheeled around on it. This makes so much more sense.

Washington was not prime real estate. It was nothing but a swamp that no one wanted so they assigned it as the national capital. As global warming progresses, it will be swampier again with rising sea levels; probably public transport will be boats and each place will have dikes to hold back water (no LGBT jokes!).

A little bit of fun for you, and a true story to boot. Required background knowledge: though the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s there was a much loved comic actor in the UK called Norman Wisdom. So one day in the United Nations a French delegate was giving a speech (I forget what about) and stated what was needed right now was some good old fashioned common sense. The rest of the hall was extremely confused when all the British delegates absolutely fell about laughing. The English translation they all received through their head phones was "what is needed right now is a bit of Norman wisdom". This will make me laugh until the day I die.

It is probably an ancient prophecy that says on the unknown continent to the west, a country will be established where all men and women strive to be just and equal despite humanity's recalcitrant ways. If it is to come to pass, as the millennium passes one quarter's way, an orange jester will rise to power but he will be false and try to destroy what has already been accomplished and set himself up as a King, unless the people are wise enough to send him and his friends packing for Mars. If the country can rise above the challenge of this autocratic heterodoxy, the people will continue to help each other evolve towards their common goals. Good luck.

Still worth it in my opinion. Such an amazing achievement by humans to have built them 4500 years ago. , while most of humanity in other places were rolling around in mud. Not really but i think you get what i mean. They were the tallest buildings human had built for 3800 years.

In November 2019, we went to Griffith Observatory before sunrise, hoping to see the Hollywood Sign—but thick fog hid everything. So we set off on a morning hike and met the kindest man. After hours of talking, we found out he was a former L.A. city council member. That afternoon, he took us to Mount Lee, briefly opened the fence, and took a photo of us with the sign right behind. An unforgettable moment.

Local systems can be turned off. Had one in my apartment that had lots of clumsy visitors. It most certainly could be turned back off, if you can get at the physical toggle. That's how I found out my fire alarm wasn't networked to emergency services.

These things were cake in comparison to the old figals which you hooked up the syrup on the tap and the carbonation on the other tap. Where I worked, this was setup downstairs. We got our truck twice a week. Having those slide down one chute to the inside guy and then the poor b*****d at the bottom of the stairs who was catching the figals coming down a steep chute. We normally got about 40 or so on each truck. Your arms and shoulders were absolute jello by the time you were done. The figals were about the same height as a keg, but it was skinnier. I tried to find the weight online, but my guess would be around 50lbs each. I worked there for just over four years back in the mid ‘90’s. We switched to the bag in a box during my last year there. It was much easier and cleaner to work with. The figals were always sticky as hell and extremely cumbersome.

You should see it after all the " ecological warriors" head home leaving thousands of bikes and acres of trash everywhere. It costs our tribe a ton to clean up

The number of people being diagnosed with a "burning man" a few weeks later is quite impressive.

It's in a dry lake bed in northern Nevada, USA. People go to see works of art, experience camping in the desert, meet and interact with people from all over the world. Many people go for the all night Raves and Electronic dance music. Others for the interactive theme camps that give away anything from morning coffee and pancakes, to beer, liquor or art/crafts that you make. The only thing that is sold is ice. There is so much more than i can put in a small reply.

I have a video game that shows the sign, and the folks who made the climb. BUT, it doesn't have a view like this one!
