exactly, people misunderstand though. the vaccine does not completely stop you from getting it, but in 99.9% of cases it WILL lessen the effects and thus make it far, far less lethal.

Several co-workers and I got it at the same time. This was before it had been thought to arrive here. While I did not need hospitalization, I was was sicker than I had been in 10-15 years and had to sleep in a seated position to breathe. In hind sight, I should have seen a doctor, but that was before the pandemic experience. Had another friend get sick in Dec 2019 (I got sick two months later) and doctors didn't know what it was. People forget what a dark time it was before the vaccines. Some people just won't learn.

Had it twice, first time it laid me out flat for a month. My mum is still having large complications 3 years later and will never recover. 2nd time was a flu type level. There are all sorts of different reactions. Edit: first time was before vaccines, 2nd was after 3 shots.

I had too, but mine lasted ten days and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. It was a very strong flu (I almost had to go to the hospital) - but, still, it would be a thousand times worse without the vaccine. This past week my whole family got infected and I didn't, even though I live in the same house. My grandparents, 89 and 93 years old, caught it and are recovering well. Cheers to vaccines again. I bet the three of us are alive because of it.

He could have used better words to express himself instead of saying that she was a "plant." But he could have been referring to Claudette Colvin and how she was originally the first to take a stand but it was decided that she was not a good representative for the movement. Chamberlain was probably remembering 1914 when it took the whole summer to get the Empire on side. At the same ce ctime a bitter debate occurred in parliament whether to honour the promise to protect Belgium by mobilising. The 'war' side won out and the result was a rapid, but poorly managed mobilisation of the then small expeditionary force. When that force came in to contact with the Germans in some early battles it was a close run thing- the complete collapse of the British army was not out of the question. Yes, it all worked out in the end, but Chamberlain knew if he bodged this now, he might not be so lucky as the country was in 1914 and the result this time could have been genuinely devastating for Britain.

True. Say what you like about Chamberlain's naivety, it should never be forgotten that his action gained precious time for the UK.
