The reputation of graffiti art is not what it used to be. Once viewed as a nuisance and a sign of crime and social degeneracy, more and more cities are taking a new approach by putting up welcome areas for street art, or commissioning artists who are proficient with spray paint to decorate old buildings with murals. Of course, graffiti varies heavily in terms of complexity and mass appeal, and many argue that by arbitrarily picking what kind of street art is socially acceptable and should be encouraged by the law is simply creating a sanitized version of the traditional form of expression, as even the simplest scrawls have a purpose of expressing an opinion, frustration, or simply affirmation that one exists and wants to be heard.
Most of the graffiti in this post falls into the latter category, but with one common feature: the writer put it there just to make the next person laugh, smile, or think with their funny messages.

And they were very careful to post the thank you sign next to it, instead of tagging it again. Point made!
If you are going to do a job, do it right first time. Or this smart a*s will correct you.
This was written in my high school's bathroom and it was indeed in Canada
Load More Replies...I went into a ladies washroom once (it's okay, I'm a lady). It was in a very trendy part of Vancouver, and someone had written : "Dwayne, I LOVE you!". Underneath it, in different writing was :"Dwayne won't see this. He uses the men's room".
If I ever end up in that stall, I'm just gonna write, "Don't lie to me."
Scrawls on public bathroom walls are a bit different and fall into a category of their own, a phenomenon that has been the subject of entire academic studies. Officially called “latrinalia,” writing on bathroom walls is something that psychologists have suggested we do because of the potential to express things that may be inappropriate without being suspected, as it’s being done behind closed doors in a space where people usually keep to themselves.
Such bathroom art is almost like posting on online forums. And much like the modern anonymous comments section, the content often tends toward crude and inflammatory, but this list shows that there are some well-wishers who want to brighten their captive audience’s day with cute messages.
But sadly, now that the UK has left the EU, people will soon realize what a dream that was, to have benefits all over Britain. I am torn between feeling sorry and remembering that old piece of wisdom that says that eventually, every nation will end up with the leadership it deserves. BoJo? Farage?
Load More Replies...I love this <3 I draw on plain white shoes with sharpies and I wrote "You are loved" on the tongue of the shoe so now when I look at my shoes I see the positive message :)
"Gay" crossed out underneath. Because everyone knows living your mom is so gay.
Some people have even used the stereotypical kind of vandalism that city councils hate for material good. Last year saw an epidemic of Brits forcing their local authorities to prioritize road repairs by painting every uninventive tagger's favorite body part over the offending potholes.
In 2015, one anonymous chaotic good character became infamous for the practice in Manchester, calling himself Wanksy, and apparently the approach that he pioneered has been repeated with success elsewhere. Locals can complain about this method all they want, but they can’t say it doesn't get the job done.
This is quite possibly THE most British grafitti I have ever seen!!! ;D *dying*
Thanks, I love my cat and their cat and all cats! (Except the real b*tchy ones)

It's doesn't say ugly people are litterers, it says all litterers are ugly. You're not ugly:-)
Load More Replies...In our Area the worst littering happens near the Amish homes that have teenage boys. They toss the fast food wrappers and beer cans out of their buggies so Mom & Dad can act clueless!
The earth does deserve respect, but that doesn't have anything to do with the way people look
Only human beings disrespect the earth; this is the reason why they disrespect each other.
I love this way of leaving positive feedback. Some cleaning lady will have a nice day and a story to tell.
I had a workfriend we kinda crushed one each other. I have him my number right before work. He said he would text me naughty things. My first thought was "what have I done?! I don't want d**k pics!!" Later, when he texted me, it was literally the words "naughty things"! Lol
At a glance I really thought the Batman symbol was right next to those words. Is Batman tagging now?!
it's how he knows where to turn, to find the batcave.
Load More Replies...Wait this is written in Cananda beacause on the trash it shows the Toronto sign.
The Toronto City Hall Logo was a good clue, I agree, please don't be mean to strangers on the internet or anywhere! let's lift people up not tear them down. Let us be part of the solution and not the cause.
I love that someone took the time to do this with stenciled letters!
Although the lighter color probably wouldn’t hVe covered up the graffiti... 🤷🏽♀️
This is what happens when you hire Stevie Wonder to paint your building.
I LOVE the grammatical/punctuation correction tie in. The person must've been able to see love among the hate and wanted to share their vision.
Life is beautiful? It depends. Just because life is good to me, does not mean it's good to anybody. Please, don't forget it.
F-Fred? Fred Rogers? I... I didn't expect you back so soon!
The small text is actually a recipe! I love when you can see that after one person writes something kinda positive two other follow suit.
Everyone? Do you know the meaning of the word 'abuse'?

was literally there for years until it was recently painted over by a graffiti artist called Helch - I miss Peas
I have such massive hatred towards Helch for doing this. I always drove under that bridge with a smile, and when I saw it defaced I was honestly a little bit heart broken. The arses name is appearing in places and it fuels the rage more and more due to unnecessary defacing of a well known work. HATRED
Load More Replies...Sadly this bridge graffiti was changed recently, causing British 'outrage' (loud tutting). 103519340_...e3b838.jpg
Now is that a misprint for Peace? Or do they mean: eat more Peas, I wonder!
Reminds me of the scene in the movie Malcolm X. Malcolm X is standing on the street corner telling passing Black women that they are beautiful, in a time when print and film media did not acknowledge the natural beauty of persons of color (Black, Latino, Asian etc.)
My bus passes this construction site every day! It's on Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee and they're building a new space for the Symphony. Gonna have to check for this graffiti when we go by tonight. Very cool.
... so nice to know the Canadians don't have a monopoly on polite graffiti!
Load More Replies...Well- I would just like to extend this- EVERYBODY! Not just Construction Personnel- BE SAFE!!
Ah yes, everyone should vandalize their school with this... (Not supporting vandalism, just saying finals suck and some people need good luck)
we do this on desks and the teachers erase them and yell at us basically for trying to help encourage other students. Like??? It's pencil, chill. We can just erase it later, like tomorrow, or after important thing has passed. We're just trying to help someone out by encouraging them, not writing all the answers on the desk. Jeez, these boomers I swear.
Excellent idea -- take a garbage bag with you to the beach -- don't leave until it's full.
And lose our beloved poster child? Not a chance. It's a wonderful reminder of everything that's wrong in the world.
I wish she would act like it then. The only time my mom pays attention to me is when she is making me clean, yelling at me, or venting to me.
Reach out to grownups you can trust. Maybe just to vent. But if you need more help, or more support, there are people who can help you. If you are in school, your guidance counselor, your favorite teacher, or school nurse. If you are graduated and live in the US, your local county should have a free mental health service. If you are in a crisis, a US suicide hotline is (877) 695-6333. You can also text 741-741. Text "4help" or "hello". Finally, you can also call 1-888-SUICIDE (1-888-784-2433) or 1-877-SUICIDA (1-877-784-2432) (Spanish)
Load More Replies...Unfortunately, not true for everyone. My son had two friends, and I had one, whose Moms very definitely did not love them. Not just didn't know how to be a good Mom, but literally did not love their kids. This kind of message will be meaningless for people who's Moms love them. It will be a sad reminder for the other sort.
Don't be that person... Please don't be that person.

Load More Replies...I would think the only way they could’ve graffitied a building that high up is if it was being restored and had scaffolding set up in front of it. If anyone know different, let me know.
That is Max, from Where the Wild Things Are! :) He is in his wolf suit (it always looked like a cat to me too).
Load More Replies...I wish the media would embrace that, women spend most of their life concerned about their weight. If we're not thin we're told we're not good enough to be loved.
Didn't you all hear that if the Earth was flat the cats would have knocked everything off of it.
it is better to try and fail, then to not try at all.

They did a survey of graffiti in England and the only place it was consistently spelt correctly was in a foreign language college. I'm never sure if it's because they they care enough to spell correctly or do not have the confidence to use English in a different mode from 'official'
Good advice for all the religious fanatics. (Edit: Religious fanatics don't like my comment. LOL.)
Hey, this is good advice for everyone. I may be considered a religious fanatic by some, so have an upvote and remember that Christianity is not about hate, no matter what some people claiming to be Christians say. <3

Load More Replies...Ugh, whilst many of the messages were nice I would be f*****g pissed if someone did graffiti on my property etc. I don't care if the message is positive it still looks like s**t and is completely disrespectful which actually takes away any of the positiveness of the messages actually written.
I lived in a semi-detached and the side was CONSTANTLY tagged by less-than-great 'artists'. After years of scrubbing, i decided to contact my local street artists and had them commission a BEAUTIFUL piece there instead. Cost of paint: £50, Cost of seeing taggers faces when their 'blank canvas' was stripped from them: Priceless. Taggers don't tend to scrawl over a fellow community member's work. Checkmate!
Load More Replies...Yeah, cute that they are compliments, but it's still vandalism and ugly. Ruins everything.
Eh, I knew a guy, who was a proper graffiti artist that would go around and covering up the bad graffiti. I mean, the tasteless c**p. usually he'd ask permission first, unless it was an abandoned building. was always at least amused if not out right impressed by the time and effort he put into fixing other people's vandalism.
Load More Replies...When graffiti is done in commision and by an artist with talent and skills I enjoy it. It's art, it brightens up places, it makes you smile or think. Spraypainting some wall with some "witty" remark is petty and vandalism. When people doing that get caught they should be forced to remove all their graffiti themselves.
We need separate words for commissioned artwork and defacing of other people s property. Agree; for a vandal s first offence they should be allowed to use their hands to remove it. second offence, one hand, third no hands, just their tongue!
Load More Replies...Only dogs graffiti private property. Public graffiti I don't mind. It's better then looking at a billboard trying to sell me something I don't need or political posters (or worse real estate signs).
Why aggrandize defacing property? There is no instance these unctuous or saccharine comments are an improvement. They are a visual blight not unlike litter.
Surprised not to see any of the Katrina-related spray paint messages from New Orleans.
Those were very crucial cries for help. a very different scenario. Some also served to note that a home had been searched and save searchers from doing the work twice so they could possibly save more people or animals.
