When I was a kid, I used to go to sleep the same way-cuddling my favorite toy.
My cat, now 16 months, was hand reared from a day old as he was the runt and unable to latch to mum and started losing weight. Originally planned to get his weight up then return to the litter, however he came down with calicivirus so it wasn't possible. Before he was big enough to mix with my other cats he had a unicorn beanie toy that he was the same size as to snuggle. This is still his "sister" to this day, he carries her around, washes her and gets distressed if we throw her or touch her!

I had a kitty named Hobbes (from Calvin and hobbes) and we went to the fair and got a plush banana from a game and it was his favorite. We got toy mice and jingles and all kinds of stuff but that was by far his favorite toy
Our dog, who we lost a couple of years ago, gave one of our cats one of those unstuffed fox plush toys and she drags it everywhere, plays with it, and sleeps with it. Another of our cats carries around a little stuffed mouse and sometimes sleeps with it. Our other two cats like a wide variety of toys, but don't have just one that they are particularly attached to. Maybe we just haven't found their favorite toy yet.

My brother brought a stress ball shaped like a hedgehog home from an arcade once. Our cat promptly stole it and used it to teach herself how to play fetch. She loved that thing to death, and resurrected it from the trash repeatedly before we were finally able to get her attached to something else (mylar crinkle balls FTW).
