When I Was Asked To Take This Girl, I Was Told The Vet Didn't Think She Had A Chance. She Was Found On The Highway, Burned Paws, Emaciated, Alone. After Multiple Vet Stays, 24 Hour Care At My House, She Went Into Rescue And Was Adopted! This Is Why I Rescue/Foster On My Own. I Won't Give Up!
You are a wonderful hooman. My Bouche says meow, and will try to remember to sheath his little baby murder mittens when he zoompounces you.
How can anyone NOT foster-fail this cutie, especially with that backstory? I'd fight to the teeth to keep her after that endeavour.
Thank you for what you do for them. Such an adorable kitty thanks to you!
What an adorable baby! Bet she turned out being a great cat and companion! Thank you for being there to give this kitten a fair chance at Life!
Ceda (10) Carrying His Newly Chosen Toy To The Register Of The Pet Store, And Then Him Riding Home In The Car With It. He Spent 99 Days At The Shelter After Being Picked Up As A Stray. This Was On Day 2 Of His New Life
He deserves to be surrounded by new toys and treats.
Load More Replies...His eyes look like he's not quite believing his luck yet
Load More Replies...You have given Ceda the life possible in his senior years. He so deserves his own "baby" and your tremendous love.
I allowed my three legged rescue-lab Maya to pick a toy or treat (or both!) in the pet store always! Because nothing better than seeing how happy a rescue pet looks at you after being adopted into a loving furever home! Animal Rescuers often pay a high price, as they often have to bid farewell too early. But it's so very very worth it and will always make their heart grow, with every single paw print on it!

My Bil Went To Adopt A Cat. He Came Home With Two Cats Because The Shelter Said They’re A “Bonded Pair”
He did exactly the right thing, and so did the shelter. Bonded animals do not thrive well if separated.
Oh yea, my best friend said she and her boyfriend decided to adopt a kitten together... They came back home with two black cats (sisters) that terrorise her dog now
I just wanted the female one, but they sent me the photos with her brother, so.....
Bored Panda reached out to Yulia Popyk, an animal behavior expert from Petcube Emergency Fund who shared some insights into how the worldwide pandemic sparked a surge in pet adoption, as well as some tips on what you should know before adopting a pet into your family.
Popyk said that there are a number of reasons for the surge in pet adoptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. “First, many people were (and perhaps many still are) spending more time at home and were looking for a companion. Second, some people have been looking for a sense of normalcy during these uncertain times. Third, pets can provide emotional support and help reduce stress and anxiety. Last but not least, adopting a pet from a shelter or rescue organization can help save a life.” Popyk added that this fact itself already provides enough motivation and inspiration during hard times like these.
He's A Beat Up Senior Cat With No Teeth, Is Fiv+, But Has A Heart Of Gold. Of Course We Adopted Him!
Every adoption makes me happy, but when I see that an older pet is adopted, especially when it is in such a difficult condition, it brings me to tears. I can't express how much respect and gratitude I have for people who adopt senior pets! I wish them a long and happy life together from the bottom of my heart!
I was just saying to a friend the loving selflessness of adopting a senior animal and giving them a happy rest of their lives brings me to tears every time.
Load More Replies...He’s not beat up, he’s ruggedly handsome! His path has been difficult, but he’s safe, happy, and much loved now. Worth it. Totally worth it.

One Of The Longest-Tenured Residents At Our Shelter Got Adopted Today
Why did it take so long ?! This dog looks like he has a great temperment and personality, but it also very intelligent and in general is a great dog!
They look like they're going to have a great time together
Load More Replies...He's such a handsome and friendly pup, I can't imagine why no one adopted him until now.
The Bottom Photo Is My Late Pup Titus Who I Had For 12 Years. The Top Photo Is The Dog I Rescued This Week. His Name Is Milo. I’m Very Lucky To Be Reminded Of Titus.
InfinityES
Milo might be Titus reincarnated because he wanted to go on looking after you for another lifetime.
Seeing the pics made me tear up. Reading your comment got me bawling - in a good way. What a lovely notion.
Load More Replies...Looks like Titus is reborn to be with you for few more years. Same position both are resting on the bed..
Moreover, during the active phases of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have been home more often and had more time to care for a pet. “Pets also provide companionship and help reduce stress and anxiety.” Popyk believes that whatever the reason, the bottom line is that people are finding joy and companionship in their new pets during these difficult times.
The pandemic has had a big impact on pet adoptions, with many people now interested in adopting a pet. While animal shelters have seen an increase in adoptions, the growing trend for people to adopt rescue animals seems like it’s not going anywhere.
“Some people may be more interested in adopting a pet now that the pandemic is over, while others may have lost interest or may not feel ready to commit to a pet at this time,” she added.
Just Adopted This Grumpy Lookin But Sweet As Hek 16yo Baby. Her Parent Died So She Was Surrendered To A Shelter. I Had To Make Sure Her Last Years Were Full Of Love And Being Spoiled

Load More Replies...You're such a good person to adopt a senior cat who deserves a decent life. We all should be doing this.
I hope to do this someday as well - adopt senior kitties in shelters and care for them in their golden years. Plus it helps I'm well-versed in common senior-kitty illnesses (CRF/CKD, hyperthyroid, etc.) Just gotta wait a bit til my "still a kitten at 1 year old" younger cat chills out a bit :)
OMG what a CUTIE 😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻 I wish her a long, healthy and happy life with lots of love from her new great family 😻😻😻😻

19 Year Old Molly Who I Recently Adopted
Looks like Molly's whiskers have seen some sh*t.
Load More Replies...Adopting a pet is a huge responsibility, so we asked the animal expert what a person should consider before making this decision. Popyk argues that it’s good to start from asking yourself if you’re prepared to commit to taking care of another living creature for the duration of its life. “This includes feeding, walking, exercising, and providing veterinary care as needed,” she added.
"What Do You Mean I Get Adopted Tomorrow?"
Who could wait until tomorrow once you have hold this beautiful creature?
Our Foster Dog, A Neglect Case, Has Been With Us Almost Two Weeks And Has Put On 20 Pounds. He Is The Most Incredible Dog.
We Adopted Morrissey On Sunday. I Think It’s Safe To Say He’s Enjoying His New House.
Yes, it belongs to your little monster now. I'm relearning this myself. Bouche is ten weeks now. How old is yours?
You also have to think whether you have the financial resources necessary to care for a pet. “Veterinary care can be expensive, and pets also require food, toys, and other supplies.” Another thing to consider is whether you have enough space in your home and yard for a pet. This is because some pets and breeds require more space than others.
“Do you have the time to care for a pet? Pets need attention and exercise every day. Are you prepared to deal with pet hair, stains, and other messes? Are you prepared to deal with additional noise in your home? Are you prepared to deal with the extra work involved in potty training a puppy or kitten?” Popyk commented.

I just want really bad karma to hit the idiots who neglect, abandon, or abuse animals!

people too often choose a little cat, but we have to think at this kind of cats, who need even more love and attentions. people who choose them has a even more bigger heart, and I bless all of you
Snuggle Buddies. They Had To Be Adopted As A Pair And I Absolutely Didn’t Mind At All.
Lovely adorable duo! You won the lotto with this pair of cuties!😻😻💖💖💖💖💖
A potential owner should consider whether they have the time, space, and resources to care for a pet. “They should also research the specific needs of the animal they are considering and make sure they are prepared to meet those needs,” the animal expert added.
Foster Fail! Sasha Is A Senior Gal Who Lost Her Longtime Home Last Year And Ended Up In The Shelter. Never Again! She’s Officially Adopted As Of Today :)
Setting an animal that is used to being in a loving home suddenly end up in a shelter is the most heartbreaking thing to me. So glad she found her forever home
Those eyes say it all! She has a kindness in her soul and will be forever grateful for you to step up!!
These Two Dogs Were Both Set To Be Euthanized Last Thursday Both Deemed Dog Aggressive And Un-Adoptable — One Week Of Basic Training, Structure, And Exercise Later We Have This.
Thank you for seeing their true nature and not letting them get killed.
Apparently, they just needed a good home full of love and stabiility. Bless you for giving these guys a second chance at Life!
Perfect example of what can happen to support smart working dogs if they don't get enough mental stimulation, exercise, and socialization... And what a transformation they can make when they ARE! Bravo for trading these gorgeous babies and giving them what they need to be the good boys/girls they always wanted to be but didn't know how!
I suspect shelters don't have the time nor the professional ability to train every dog they get. Some shelters have so many animals that they can't spend much time with any one of them.

While he doesn't really have an owner, he is a loyal and faithful companion to those he accompanies, according to Mama Murphy when the Sole Survivor speaks to her in the Museum of Freedom in Concord, she states that Dogmeat "is his own man."
Load More Replies...She’s So Small That I Thought I Was Adopting A Kitten, But She Was An Adult. I Misread 18 Months As 18 Weeks.
I have a cat who’s tiny like that. Always was. Some a*****e dumped her in our yard all by herself when she was 5-6 weeks old and didn’t even weigh a full pound yet. Tabitha is 2 years old now, and doesn’t even weigh 7 lbs, but she’s healthy, bright-eyed, energetic, bold, feisty, and walks all over everyone else (4 legged, including a dog, and 2 legged), even though we’re all between 1.5 (our senior cat) and 30 times (my hubby) her size—-and we all let her because she’s also the sweetest and most affectionate little clown cat, and keeps us laughing with her antics.
I swear that the smaller they are the more "supreme overlord" vibes they put out. My 5yo is 6-7ish lbs and absolutely rules our house. (We found her in a dumpster at 4weeks old so there may be some correlation there too lol) We let her own us because all of the purrs, headbutts, and cuddles are worth it.
Load More Replies...Oh my gosh our cat was like this as well! She was 7 pounds 4 ounces for probably 15 of her almost 19 years. She was perfection in a petite package and I miss her terribly.
I love white kitties!!!!!! Mine is completely deaf and he has been nothing but a treat
When asked how long it takes for an adopted pet to get used to their new family, Popyk said that although it varies, “generally it takes a few weeks for an adopted pet to get used to their new family.”
“This can vary depending on the animal’s age, general health, temperament, prior living situation, and the amount of time and effort the new family is willing to put into the transition. Generally, it will take a few days to a few weeks for an animal to settle into their new home,” she explained.
My Friend Is Adopting Brady This Weekend. Can’t Wait To Meet Him. He Was A Stray So This Will Be His First Real Home. She Says He’s Really Sweet And Gentle.
Agreed To Foster This "Extremely Aggressive" Boy A Few Months Back. Today I Adopted Him. Welcome Home, Stripes Mckenzie!
A lot of times aggressive cats have little to no mental stimulation (playtime, toys, puzzles) ,too much sensory stimulation (sights, smells, noises) , and various other reasons include :trauma(abusive/neglectful owners, bad run ins with neighborhood kids, etc.) ,lack of socialization ,overcrowding(mummy I want to pet the kitty)
These same same factors also contribute to dog bites so please :ask the owner, get down on their level(big things are scary!) ,calm voice ,let them come to you . This being said :CONGRATS TO STRIPES MCKENZIE!
Load More Replies...As a regular volunteer at an animal shelter I can say that cats in the shelter are more aggressive than in a home. Your in their space when you go to the room they are in and also they are cramped, over stimulated, and have to listen to other cats meowing, growling and hissing along with the constant sound of dogs barking, growling, and howling. This "aggressive cat" is just a kitty who needed a new home and a calmer environment.
This is why I could never ever foster animals. I would get too attached and end up adopting them! Congrats on your adoption!
Beautiful cat, hope his temperment has improved since being in your home.
This Is Poochie Before And After Adoption. The Goodest Boy.
Poochie honestly looks like a pissed off sheep in his shelter mug shot.🤣
Wow... He looks like he's about 12 hard years old in the mug shot and like a 6 month old in the home shot! What a difference a 'little' care can do!
The most important thing is to be patient and give them time to adjust. “With the help of the Petcube interactive dog camera, you can always check on your newly adopted or an oldie pet at home, even when you have come back to your office work life,” Popyk suggested.
Recently Adopted, Meet Honey :)
My Lil House Hippo, Choomba. He Was Rescued From A High Kill Shelter In La, Brought To Oregon, And We Adopted Him A Week Later.
Because of his breed, he has a bad reputation but, these dogs really are gentle and loving, and make great companions!
Yesterday I Rescued This Kitten From A Cruel Life As A Stray, Today He Shamelessly Stole My Son’s Lunch. I’ve Taken In A Criminal.
It’s early days yet. Once he realizes he’s no longer starving on the streets and gets used to having a food bowl that’s never empty, he’ll stop feeling like he has to scrounge/steal food.
Load More Replies...Poor baby doesn't know any better. He'll be fine in a couple of weeks, Mom. Plenty of food and plenty of love.
As a stray he never knew when he would get food. It will take him time and many regular meals to develop food security. We went through that last year with a stray. Unfortunately after several months we ended up having to put her down. She was FIV+ and it had pretty much destroyed her lungs. Her breathing was awful to listen to.
Our first greyhound started off thieving. Previous owner said he was a thief. Well since it took months to get him back to a good weight and the rescue refused to let us see the "before" photo, I can only assume that previous owner didn't feed him. He stopped thieving in about 6 weeks, when he realised regular meals were now a thing. RIP Henry
He Thinks That This Adopted Kitten Is Just For Him.
I joke that I just adopted a puppy for my feral cat. She has lived with me, inside, for 12 year and still afraid of me, but she loves the dogs. Her buddies have both died, and she has tried making friends with my other 14 year old dog that has cancer. So far, the puppy is off to a great start! She loves the cats!
Already looks like they’re going to be lifelong siblings and playmates! Great match!
Meanwhile, said kitten is 100% certain the dog belongs to it (along with ALL the new things & humans)!!!
I’ve Waited So Long To Adopt My Own Cat. I Finally Moved Into A Place That Allows Cats Last Week. This Is Me Meeting Cheddar For The First Time
I am so happy for you!!!! I remember getting my first place where I could get a cat and I know I had that same look on my face! So many happy years ahead!!
I Was Told My Sister’s Newly Adopted Pit/Dachshund Might Be Appreciated Here.
loooooooooooooooooooooooooool, pit combos are always funny. went to a dog park some years ago and all of a sudden there was quite a commotion when a pit looking dog with beagle coloring came in. you'd have thought it was a celeb cause everyone threw their phones out to get a picture.
I met a pit/dachshund mix a while ago. Walked towards me and looked all pit, then turned and the body is all dachshund. Really looked like a big pit head on a dachshund body. It was hilariously cute.
Load More Replies...I hate to be "that" person, but there's NO WAY this is considered ethical breeding.
Ikr ? Just feels wrong. Poor animal looks uncomfortable.
Load More Replies...LOL!! It looks like they grafted a different dog's head on to its body. Sausage Pitt. :)
Most people are really only familiar with mini dachshunds, but standard sized doxies are in the 30-pound range, making a "pit bull" x doxie cross entirely possible, but much more plausible is that this is a "pit bull" x basset hound mix. Dwarfism in dogs is a dominant trait, meaning only one parent needs to pass the gene along to the pups for the pups to have the trait themselves. Pit x basset mixes were popular for a while and were intentionally bred, especially in the southern US, specifically for their novelty. Thankfully they never caught on. It is wildly cruel to put an active, athletic dog on short, stubby legs that have been deformed by dwarfism, especially considering that there's a direct link between this deformation and physical discomfort, pain, and mobility issues.

Poor cat looks TERRIFIED!! I hope the parent teaches the kid how to handle the poor little floof correctly so it can have a happy home. This photo is setting off all of the alarm bells.
It doesn't look to me like the kid is squeezing it or anything. Depending on the kitten's background it could feel scared for any number of reasons.

I'm Terribly Allergic To Cats. My Family Adopted A Cat...guess Who He Chose As His Owner?
I'm also allergic to cats, and seeing all the cute cats on here makes me sad that I'm allergic.
It may not be a good solution for having a full time pet, but maybe if you had some Benadryl and someone to drive you, you could go to a cat cafe or play with cats at your local shelter? I'm allergic, but it's not bad, so I've got cats and non drowsy allergy medicine. I'm usually fine but I can always tell when the furnace filter needs changed.
Load More Replies...I was allergic to cats all of my life too. Well that was until my mid 50's and I let my son adopt one. We now have three. Turned out it was the litter that I was allergic too the most. Using Arm & Hammer Cloud Control Platinum Multi-Cat Clumping Cat Litter w/ Hypoallergenic Light Scent has made a huge difference.
I was allergic as a kid but now I think it's because our cats could go outside and roll in mold and pollen. Have had indoor cats as an adult and, surprise, no allergies!

This Is Guillermo!
I'd share our black kitty. We adopted him from a cat cafe that takes in shelter cats only. We named him Guillermo, after the familiar in What We Do in The Shadows, and brought him home. After a few weeks, I looked through the paperwork they gave us with him that wasn't health related or immediately important. In there, I found a paper from his short time at Petco. His description on it read, "I'm a TV star!". I was like, "sorry, what?". It continued to explain that he was rescued from a hoarding situation and during a news interview at the site, he was filmed a few times sitting in a cage looking VERY confused.
Since then, he's fit in really well with our other cat Bobbi, and is best friends with our dog, Jack.
Here's the video. He first appears at around 0:50 timemark. A few more times after that too.
https://youtu.be/m5fVZxgKxg8
"Nandor: I would like us to get colorful dust that sparkles. Guillermo: Glitter? Nandor: Yes, get me some glitter. Guillermo: Whatever for, Master? Nandor: Well, I want to do something special for the immortal one's arrival. I am going to sprinkle it on my face and on my body. Like Twilight."
