40 ‘My House, Not My Cat’ Pics That You Will Love If You’ve Ever Wanted To Find A Strange Cat Show Up In Your Home
Has this ever happened to you, dear Pandas? You go into the kitchen, say hello to your cat sitting on the counter (it says ‘meow’ back), and then you start making yourself a heartwarming mug of hot cocoa. You leave but then you stop and glance back. That wasn’t your cat! (Maybe you didn’t even have a cat!) How did it get in? What happened to your own cat?
If you’re in need of some good vibes, then you’re going to love the My House, Not My Cat Facebook group. It’s a wholesome online community dedicated to people who share photos of cats who wind up in their homes, visit their yards, and patter in to meownage them in their offices. Scroll down, upvote your fave pics, and share your own photos of cats that aren’t yours chilling at your home in the comment section, dear Pandas.
Stephanie Holcomb, who founded the group in October 2016, told Bored Panda that she came up with the idea to create the community because she kept seeing ‘My House, Not My Cat’ memes pop up all over the internet. “Cats would just let themselves in people’s houses via doggie doors or open windows, and these people didn't have cats! They were hilarious, so I did a little search and found that there wasn't a group made up specifically for that yet.” Scroll down for the rest of our in-depth interview with Stephanie.

Need another article, titled: Not My House, Not My Cat—-Not Even A Cat In The First Place!
I had a pet possum named Stinky. They are a lot like real cats, actually. Stinky used the litterbox faithfully, was sweet and docile, and just as friendly as cat....even more so if you had treats for her. They make really good pets, but do need a careful, specialized diet to prevent them from getting too fat.
I looked up felonious opossum and it took me quite a moment to unsee the emu and see the opposum 😂

Load More Replies...The founder of My House, Not My Cat told us that there are 3 admins who monitor the posts and she also went into detail about the rules that members of the group have to follow.
“We do have rules that they [the posts] have to be group-specific, and we decline some that aren't. Other animals, for example, maybe funny but we want to be specific. Our rules are: it has to be your house (or yard, or deck, or work) and it has to be not your cat (we call them NMCs, for Not My Cat). We do accept ‘My Cat, Not My House’ because we have found that sometimes neighbors text pictures of people's cats in their house. It's kind of turned around, but the same concept.”
My House, Not My Cat
I live in Phoenix, AZ.
In February 2019, we saw an orange blob on the house camera feeding from the feral cat feeding bowl. *start photos top left*
I posted on the Nextdoor app “hey, is this your cat?”... no reply for about two weeks so I kept posting daily pics. Short story, I finally found his owner and she said “yep, that’s my cat.” But Sam... he just would not stop hanging around our house - day in and day out... he would get in my car, he would lay on our doormat to be sure to not miss our arrivals, and many days of watch him on the ring doorbell sitting - staring.
I finally let him in. We called him Cinnamon. And he loved his new home. LOVED. I called the owner and she said “he chose you.”
We brushed him, he really blossomed and played and slept with the other pets.
I would post funny instagram stories of “random not my cat” things and multiple Facebook posts of “look at this crazy neighbors cat.”
In November, he grew ill, so I called his owner and said “Sam is sick... I just wanted you to know.”
My husband and I took him to the vet and they gave him a few days to live... so we went through his bucket list 1. Eat tuna, 2. sit in sunny window on forbidden kitchen counter, and finally 3. lay outside under the big tree where we brought him Squeeze Up treats and bowls of ice water.
Cinnamon/Sam lasted a week - kidney failure.
Sometimes - my house, not my cat... just isn’t what it seems. I still miss that freeloading fool. *end photos bottom right* November 2019 Love couldn’t save him
Who's crying? I'm not crying. The damn onion ninjas are back again!

'the soul of a loved one'... Haha 😂 Love the Panda people, we have the same demented alien like sense of humor.
Yep here at bored panda we all have demented humour like that one time someone had a snake costume and someone comments I'll give them candy and maybe my family as a tribute 😂

I was in such shock that I first thought one of my own was getting out! She's currently trapped in the bathroom being an adorable kitten, and tomorrow we go to the vet. My dog is already hoping we keep her
UPDATE!!! SHE HAD A CHIP!!! Her family lost her almost 2 Years Ago!!!! Mom was in TEARS. I'm so very selfishly sad, but I just made a whole family incredibly happy
That is just awesome. It's incredible when these things happen. The pain of not knowing what happened would have burned at that family's minds for all that time. You have facilitated a miracle and as an owner of a "missing" kitty, I love reading things like this and hold out hope mine will come home one day too.
That's so sad, not knowing is the worst part. I hope your kitty comes home.
Load More Replies...2 years missing? I can't imagine how happy they must have been to see her again :)
Our office had a kitten. We kept him indoors. One day we just...never saw him again. We called Animal Control, checked the roadside, etc. Never found any sign of him. So in the total absence of any evidence, we decided that a New Yorker picked him up and took him home, and now he's living it up in a high-rise.
She continued: “Also, the cats have to be a surprise. At least the first post—people give updates on NMCs all the time. We have some favorites: Matthew, The Squatter Kitty, and Felix.”
Stephanie said that Felix lives in her hometown and visits a good friend of her’s. “She had no idea I ran this group but just started posting pictures of him on her personal page.”
According to the founder, random cats popping up and meowndering into your home is far more common than most people would think.

It Only Took A Few Months For Amelia Pond To Go From “My House, Not My Cat” To “How’d You Get So Fat?!?”
For more than 20 years we’d been a dogs-only family. One day about 4 1/2 years ago, Amelia decided it was time to change that. She randomly showed up at our house, super skinny but otherwise very healthy...and then never left We really think she was dumped, because she was SO super friendly and *completely* unafraid of people...she SPRINTED inside the house the moment we opened the door, and jumped in our laps! Now she’s living as a cat should be, rotund and lazy and happy
We live on a dead end street that backs up to a wooded area. Needless to say, our (now, with the recent addition of a kitten who was about six weeks old and barely 1 lb when she was dumped—-all by herself!!—-by people for whom the nicest thing I can call them is a******s) four cats and one dog were all dumped and rescued off the street.
You'll have to start calling it a 'live end street'!

I Was Told To Come Here And Tell Y’all About What Happened Over The Last 12 Hours At My House, With This Cat That Is Not My Cat, And Now These Kittens That Are Not My Kittens Or Her Kittens
So about 1:00 this morning, I went outside and this cat, that is not my cat, meows, so I call it, and it comes right to me. Now first, we have dogs, lots of dogs, and 2 are neighbors’ dogs that live outside, and yet somehow, this tiny cat just strolls right up and none of the dogs even move. Second, we live in the country and we know all our neighbors and their cats, and this is not their cat. Third, when I pick her up, it’s apparent that she has had kittens recently.
So now I’m standing outside at 1:00 AM, holding this very friendly cat that has apparently been dumped at my house, and is somehow magical and able to sneak past sleeping dogs. But now I have to carry her past the 2 outside dogs and the 6 inside dogs to get her somewhere safe....
She is absolutely fine with the whole thing. Stays snuggled in my arms. Purrs. I’m not convinced that this is real, that I’m not dreaming. So I feed the magic cat and start looking for kittens. Y’all, I searched for nearly 7 straight hours. I even enlisted my Terrier mix in the hunt. (She could find baby mice in a snowstorm with earmuffs on.) I even walked the property playing kittens meowing sounds on my phone.
So this is the bad news, we live in the country and the likelihood of the babies being ok with all the predators here is slim, and she may have been dumped without them. So I am not giving up looking, but now I’ve got a potential surrogate mom cat. And y’all, I’ve bottlefed kittens and if there’s a chance for a surrogate, trust me, worth it.
I reached out to my rescue friends and managed to get her lined up to be a surrogate mom to 3 orphaned kittens before noon. Unfortunately, the vet check showed that she has a lot of parasites and she’s going to have to wait 3 days before she can meet her new babies. But the vet said she should still be able to feed the babies then. So now this cat that is not my cat is not at my house anymore, she’s getting well so she can meet the kittens that are not her kittens. Told you she was magic. And I need a nap.
That's going above and beyond. The mother didn't try to go anywhere to get them? I know with the first litter my cat had she never let them out of her sight and would hide them all kinds of places. However she got to you, she clearly got to the right person who could see she has a higher purpose. It's wonderful you have the knowledge and ability to help little babies like this. I hope mama is happy looking after her adopted babies.
The babys mightve died during birth its been known to happen if the mother isnt physicly equipped they could all die (including the mother so if this is the case its weird she didnt die either even though im very happy she didnt :) )
Load More Replies...The kittens probably got new homes and, instead of simply getting mama fixed, they dumped her so that—-in their pea brains—-they can dump the work that goes into getting more kittens adopted on someone else. I just don’t understand people who adopt animals then never get them fixed, or get all their necessary shots, or take them to the vet when they’re sick. I mean, ffs. Do they neglect their human children that much too? Come to think of it, I wouldn’t be too surprised to find out that they did. Glad she’s safe now, and will have some babies to love. When it come to her “magic” with the dogs, you would be amazed at how cats—-even tiny kittens—-can totally be the boss of a pack of huge tough dogs. Size ain’t everything when it comes to being leader of the pack!
We're hoping her kittens got new homes. I'm a little doubtful about anyone that could take such a sweet animal and dump her off instead of caring for her. This is how we now have four cats. So let's thing Good Thoughts for them ...

I Left The Door Open A Moment Too Long When I Got Home One Day And This Little Goob Sprinted Inside, Circled The Living Room, And Plopped On The Floor
The first pic is what I sent to my family asking what to do about a random cat in the apartment. I lured him back outside with a packet of salmon, and all he wanted was cuddles and to go back inside.
So yeah, that’s the story of how I got adopted. He still takes very good care of me to this day

Okay, So About A Week Or So Ago I Had Just Gotten Home From Work When I Hear A Meow At My Apartment Door
I open the door to check out the noise and this orange baby comes walking in like ‘cool, I live here now’. I already have two cats and a large dog but this new one is walking about with no issues or fighting. I figure I’ll take him to the vet and see if he has a chip in the morning and go to bed. Flash forward to the vets office and he has a chip! Hooray!! I reach out to the owners and within 30 minutes they call me and agree to meet. I arrive with the orange baby who is currently not happy with his car ride and is now hiding in my lap while we wait for his mom. She shows up. We get out of the cars, I’m holding the kitty, we’re doing small talk, she’s reaches out to pet him. And then she pulls her hand back and says, “You know, he’s been missing for about 3 weeks. I don’t think I want him back.” And gets in her car and drives away. It was heartbreaking. So my house not my cat has become my house my cat through a very sad tale of events
I guess the cat left to find a better home for a reason. Glad he succeeded !
Load More Replies...Wtf is this story real? Who would go through all the trouble of not only microchipping, but agreeing to meet, then ACTUALLY MEETING, and being like, "You know what? F**k this cat."
We had the same thing happen w/a dog. He followed my husband on a golf course. He checked with the pro shop and they said he'd been hanging around for weeks. My husband knows better than leaving him behind so he brings him home. We had him checked for a chip...no luck there. We post signs ALL OVER the area. A couple of days go by and a lady calls to tell me that it's their dog but they don't really want him back. But if we can't keep him then she guesses she will take him. My response was that will not be necessary and WTF is wrong with you?! Unfortunately we couldn't keep him with the four dogs we already had.... one of them being a deaf Pitt. So we contacted a rescue and agreed to foster until he could be placed with a family that he deserved. He now has an amazing life and goes on runs and hikes with his new human.
Load More Replies...Only three weeks and she doesn't want him back? The cat was very clever in getting as far away as possible fro her.
Maybe she did want him but she wanted a cat that wanted her. She took the rejection personally. But it was definitely a win for the kitty.
I will never understand how people can "not want" a pet any more... I'm so glad that this boy found himself a new family!

This gorgeous boy ‘lives’ 3 houses down. He’s not allowed inside his house and is always outside roaming, day or night. So now ‘Carl’ enjoys the good life at ours. He will pop back to his house late afternoon, bring back a fresh chicken wing and put it in his bowl and eat it here. Absolute legend
Why have a pet if you don’t want them in your house? Thank you for being kind to this lovely kitty!
That's insane. I hate people like that. Average lifespan of an outdoor cat, 2-5 years. inside, 18-20 years. See the difference.
Wow ! I think he adds up the final touch to your decor and coffe table
No, this gorgeous boy lives with you and just snags the odd chicken wing at the house 3 doors down.
Good for you, outdoor cats don't live nearly as long as keeping your pet inside! One of our cats lived to be 22 years, and I lost two when they were 17 years old. This boy is beautiful, I don't think I would allow him to roam around outside! He's picked you, he apparently loves you, and he isn't going anywhere! You're very lucky!
My Carport, Not My Cat
Mittens is a stray thats fixed in our neighborhood who always runs to me when I come home, I have two insulated shelters for her outside since its cold. She gets fed 6-7 times a day between me and the old lady next door! Very loving, always jumps up on my shoulders. She’s a part of my daily routine! I always check on her multiple times a day, and 2-3 times a night to make sure she’s comfy in her shelter. I’m ordering her a collar to officially adopt her, and if I ever move she’s coming with me! Working cats need love too!
She's probably a TNR cat--trapped, neutered, released.

Soooo, This Is My Car, That Is Not My Cat
He belonged to the neighbor, but she never let him in the house, so I created a place for him in my garage. I left the windows down one night, this is what I came to the next morning.
I haven’t seen him in close to two months, when today, I see him up for adoption on a cat rescue site listed as a tripod (he recently lost a leg). They called him Sammy , which was the name of my neighbor’s cat. I’m so excited to have found him again. So, I put in an application to adopt him. Maybe he’ll actually be my cat after all
Why do people have a cat and never let him/her into the house? Cats need homes too.
That was my case :( grandma never allowed pets inside. We could only have cats outside. It is considered normal in some (most?) rural areas that cats are around the house but you don't let them in because of parasites and hairs everywhere. To compensate for my childhood, I have 2 fluffballs living with me in my flat now :)
Load More Replies...Maybe I'm in the minority vote here but I've never been able to understand why or how people let their cats out, at night or otherwise. We have three cats and I could never let them outside on their own. I have all rescues, two from the street and one saved on her day of doom. I guess if we lived on a few acres or a farm...., no, I wouldn't let them outdoors.
I agree totally! I have six rescues that have never stepped foot outside! Even when we take them to the vet, they are in a carrier all the way to the car and back... I don't take chances with my fur babies!

Last Year We Met This Orange Goofball While Walking Our Dog, Justin
Justin is NOT a fan of cats and usually will chase or lunge at them when given the chance. Well to this little guy, it mattered not. He wouldn’t be intimidated and insisted that he and Justin would be friends. After a few weeks this was the case. Justin was won over. Then, he turned his attention to my wife and I. Gordon, as my wife named him, started stopping by the house to say hello. This progressed to stopping by for a bite to eat and a place to sleep for a couple hours. We found out that this was his MO up and down the block. He didn’t really belong to anyone, he wandered freely in and out of houses and was fed and offered places to sleep wherever.
Several months later we came home from a week away and poor Gordon was on front step of our house looking VERY ill. I took him to the vet and they told me he had a kidney issue that would require IV fluids for the next week. So dutifully Gordon and I went to the vet and they’d hook his little arm up to an IV and he’d curl up in my lap and let it happen. The vet said that she wished all her feline patients were as willing and accommodating as Gordon.
After his health scare, Gordon got back to doing what he did best and ate/slept/caroused around the neighborhood. Then in January of last year he went missing. No one in the neighborhood knew anything of his whereabouts. It was and remains an absolute crusher for me. He was the sweetest little orange guy and I’m sure that he came to me when he was sick because he knew I would help him.
I can only hope that someone said, “This cat is too awesome to live on the streets!” and took him in forever. Regardless, my heart aches knowing that I’ll likely never see him again. Gordon, I hope you’re out there curled up on someone’s couch enjoying your best life. Miss you my friend!
Yes, we had a similar story. We thought someone had broken in and let one of our indoor cats out. Turns out he was the neighbourhood tart. We fed him, the dog loved him (our cats didnt love the dog). He hung around for years bringing us presents, dead half chewed frogs, huge rats, and an enormous fish. Any way, one day this man came to our house and asked if we looked after a big ginger cat. My kids said yes and he told them that he passed away in his room as the cat was actually his.
Nice of the man to tell everyone. It couldn't have been easy for him.
Load More Replies...No offense, but this is why cats need to be indoors. Too many unknowns out there. Communicable disease, predators, cars, bad humans.
It's impossible to do once they've had the grass under their feet and the sun beating on them as they lie sprawled out. They become depressed when you take it away, and new cats always try to make a break for it because they're dying to see what's behind that big door their hooman keeps going through. Mine were very unhappy when we moved to an apt where going out will never be an option. I finally relented and now leave the balcony door open, running up my heating and A/C charges so they can have a little freedom. We're on the 3rd floor, and they know to stay put on the balcony.

Yeah, why didn't they keep the cat they think is so awesome that they hope someone keeps.

Load More Replies...Is This How One Acquires A Cat?
Well, many people deliberately get cats by adopting from the shelter or taking in someone else's unexpected kittens (mistakes do happen, and some cats mature before the recommended age for spaying), but I know of to families who were chosen by the cat... it's really fairly common. I know people admire the unconditional love of dogs, but I often feel sorry for those dogs... with most cats, you can be pretty certain they made a choice at some point. They don't stay because their instinct tells them to be loyal no matter what - they stay because they really think you are a good owner!
I have one for over 2 years, my neighbor knows and doesn’t mind. He doesn’t want to leave my house. Now I have 1 my own and one lease.

<3 <3 <3 I had a female who looked like this one - Satanna - her mother was feral, and trust me so was she for the first 3 weeks as a kitten trapped in my bedroom. Came to trust me and would ONLY answer to her name and would ONLY come to me.

That is adorable, and the dog doesn't seem to mind one bit!!! They planned this, pup wants a sibling and he chose this kitty!
Why Do Neighbourhood Cats Always Come To My House
There’s just something about you they like. You must make them feel secure and loved. That’s really not such a bad thing, after all.
Congratulations! Your house is a cat magnet. Years ago, I had four neighbourhood cats on my front lawn. A man passed by, looked at them, and then at me. I said, "They're not my cats. They just like to hang out here." His reply: "Sure, they're not your cats..." as if I were some crazy cat lady. Sadly, most of the kitties have since passed on. I have two of my own now, but I do miss the old gang.
I asked myself the same question, then I find out my girlfriend feeds the neighbourhood cats smoked chicken! ;)
I attract all the strays. Where I lived before, a friend told me she thought there must be a tiny sign somewhere, saying, Need a New Home? Try No.38!
I Just Bought A House. It Apparently Came With A Cat. No One Told Me. I Don’t Even Have A Sofa Yet, But I Have A Pet? My House, Not My Cat
Some friends bought a house - the sellers moved to a new place a couple of steets away. One of their cats kept returning to his old house, now occupied by my friends. It was Charlie's house, regardless of who actually owned it. So my goth friends ended up adopting the blackest cat ever and it ended happily ever after.
My neighbors moved out and left their cat behind. New neighbors have moved in. When the Covid is over, I'll ask them if they've met their cat yet.
That's ghastly. How can someone just leave their pet? It boggles the mind.

Kevin will come around. My sister has a knack for kitties, and she made shelters for two feral outside. She’d keep the back doorwall open after about 8mth or so, and “Chester” slowly started acclimating. He’d come right up to the door. A month or so later, he’d come juuust into the kitchen. Then it was downstairs, too. After about 1.5yrs, Chester was the official ruler of the house for about 8/9 years until he peacefully passed away. “Charlie” never would trust enough, but was taken care of until he passed away. She’d even take him to the vet for shots and when she noticed he started loosing weight when he shouldn’t have been. It was cancer, and too late to help him. She put him down, but at least he had someone there with him, that cared.

I couldn’t bear watching poor Merlin trying to get comfy yesterday, trying to groom his ‘matted beyond hope’ fur - so, I’ve sacrificed my bestest crochet snippers, grabbed a huge bag of treats, put my ‘big girl pants’ on and stepped up to do the right thing (I’ve been terrified of hurting him) ...
Merlin now is minus quite a few matts. He actually lay there for a good 10 mins before a paw the size of a side plate plonked onto my arm (no claws) and he chirped to say ‘enough’.
I thought that was it ... but no, he only asks for a tummy rub and then ROLLS OVER so I can do the other side!!!
It may not look a lot in the picture but it means the world to me - Merlin now has a ‘bare bit’ on his side that no longer pulls when he moves - he looks like Tatty Ted bless him.
I won’t be able to do them all, but I’ll get as many as I safely can when he lets me. Let’s face it, there are some places no self respecting kitty will let you snip near - even for treats.
I’m learning to read his body language and tail twitches so that I don’t do too much at a time.
I’m just thankful for his trust and the rapport that lets us work together on this xx
Merlin is also ‘part Hobbit’ - he’s loves Second Breakfast (I haven’t broken it to him that it’s actually what he didn’t finish at First Breakfast - covered from the fridge - who am I to burst his bubble).
I had a longhaired cat as a kid and he would slice you open if you tried brushing him (I still have scars). He used to get matted and uncomfortable so each Summer our vet would shave him for us. He enjoyed being matt free and cool over Summer and would make it through the year before needing his next trip to the barber!
Oh, he's beautiful and so comfy now. This was such a kind thing to do.
Back before the topical flea treatments were invented, dogs and cats were given flea dips, especially during summer. If you had the vet do it, you dropped them off in the morning and picked them up in the afternoon. I had a big old long-haired tomcat named Alfie, who had been a street tough when I adopted him. Took him right to the vet for his first bath, flea dip, and grooming. Got a call later that morning, asking for permission to give Alfie a sedative to finish the process, as he had already torn up the bathing room, and attacked not only his bathers, but the other cats being bathed at the other tubs, and their bathers! I gave permission. When I picked him up, the vet gave me a bottle with little half-pills of sedative, and instructions for how long before bringing him in for his next flea dip to give him a dose, so he’d be good and sleepy by the time he got there. Believe me, when Revolution first came out, and the vet started carrying it, I snapped it up and old Alf never had a sedative or a flea dip again.

My 6 year old asks constantly when we are getting another cat and I tell him, “When it’s time for us to add another cat to the family, Charlie will send us one...” Well, this gorgeous thing showed up 2 nights ago. She sat in my lap in the yard for almost an hour before my husband pulled into the drive way and scared her off. And now she’s back and loving getting loved on!!!! I think she’s in love with my 6 year old! Our neighborhood is over run with feral cats and while I officially believe now (based on the matted fur) that she is feral-ish, I also think she wants to be loved on. About 12 Months Ago This Little Fella Started Hanging Around My Van
Always interested what i was doing and would sit with me for hours while I was working on my van, little by little he snuck his way into my place and has certainly made himself comfy.......I've tried to find possible owners but nobody has claimed him so he has moved in full time and now goes by the name of Shadow as he is always by my side and sticking his nose into whatever I'm doing
Our cat Smudge took that route into our family too. She started by visiting my husband in the garage when he was working on stuff out there.Turns out, she’s kind of a dog in a cat suit, and quickly became his little buddy. He even built her a little house to live in outside. However, Smudge has two habits that finally got her brought inside permanently. First, she was our yard’s resident serial killer. We’d find her victims all over the place, some of which looked like botched autopsies—-one we couldn’t even tell what animal it originally was (my vote was black rat snake). The gore really got to us, as we were the ones who had to dispose of the bodies. Second, when she started spending the night inside (after being injured in an overnight fight), she started doing “walkabouts” right around sundown. After one too many dinners going cold whIle we searched for her, the decision was made for Smudgy to be a permanent indoor cat. That was 10 years ago, and she’s a fat happy housecat now.

Fast forward two weeks and he's here every day for food at the same time, will allow me to scratch his forehead with one finger, and hangs out just inside my door.
He ate inside one time, and then decided to drag all the food outside piece by piece. He also enjoys drinking water from the filthy puddle outside, glaring at anyone who comes near him, and running frantically away from the toy I gently placed beside him.

I have a black cat. My neighbour has a black cat and there is a stray black cat that hangs out the front of my place. My husband has to check with me that he's letting the right one in!
We have had the same phenomenon with all gray cats that are just the spit of our cat, Baz. In fact, a few years back, we thought Baz had somehow gotten outside (all our cats are indoor cats—-too many cars and predators outside). We were frantically trying to call and get him to come to us so we could get him back inside, and all he did was look at us like “who the hell are you nutjobs”? I turned to go inside and get some food to lure him, when what do I see but Bazzy looking out the screen door—-from inside the house—-at us. I yelled to my husband to come look at who I found! We just kept looking from Bazzy to the cat in the yard, and couldn’t believe they weren’t identical twins. All gray, all black, and tabby seem to be the dominant stray cat genes in our neighborhood.

This is Chonk. He's been showing up to my bedroom window for almost a year and a half now. It all started when I saw this beautiful ginger on the roof and decided to leave some kibbles in a bowl by the window.
We've had a very colorful relationship, since then. One time he didn't show up for three months and came back all skinny and dirty. Another time, he scratched my hand while I tried to feed him and his then-girlfriend. I ignored him for three weeks. He, later on, ditched the girlfriend, stopped being nasty, and then I started feeding him again. Sometimes he'd show up to my window during sad moments, as if he knows I need the comfort. I can't let him in because cats aren't allowed where I live.
Not my cat, but I love himb. I'd love to call him mine someday.
He acts like that because he is not neutered. Catch him, have him neutered and he is yours forever. Never act vengeful or spiteful with an animal, who has no choicebut to follow what nature dictates. He needed you to feed him. Have a happy life, together, you both !
Time to move into a place that allows pets, and take old Chonky with you.
Ignoring a cat cause they scratch you? Wow, its an animal, not a human that can think!
Actually, Ignoring a cat is the best way to tell them that you don't like what they're doing. It doesn't hurt the cat, but it lets it know loud and clear to stop.

Seems Like 'Not My Cat' Has Found Himself A Warm Bed...
My parents did not want pets. A tiny, rather loud kitten showed up and sat in front of the kitchen window. He drove my mother crazy. Frustrated, she would shout, "Would someone feed that poor thing!" Then she called the police, no animal control back then. The kitten was never there when they arrived. Eventually they told us we now had a cat. By then he understood Poor Thing was his name. Best cat ever. Tough, mean tom cat to the rest of the world, but loved my younger sister. Tolerated being wrapped in foil for space kitty and toilet paper for mummy kitty. Wore a big red bow at Christmas which he proudly showed every visitor, instead of ripping it off.
My husband had two cats, White Kitty and Brown (named by a small child) who lived outside. They refused to enter the house. Both had been to the vets were neutered and given their shots. We fed them daily and in the winter I built a multi level fort under a tarp, full of towels and blankets. They loved it. If we were home, they sat in front of the sliding doors and watched us. Did not want to come in, just wanted to watch. Twenty years after being adopted White Kitty died. The neighbors asked if they could have a funeral for her. Apparently she wandered around the neighborhood and watched the children play. She would run if anyone tried to touch her. If left alone, she sat watched and meowed loudly. Everybody loved her. We had no idea!
I have a similar story:moved in a new house with my husband and we've been adopted! The neighbor's cat decided to make our home his home. Now we have cat food, treats, beds, collars, bowls, brushes and recently a cat tree! Ps: the neighbor was informed and he's ok with it since he's not home 80% of the time.

I feed about 8 cats, mine included. Mine are indoor-only. Some neighbors aren't very concerned about their cats, and leave them to the elements. I provide food, water, shelter, and notification to the owners (once I find them). We do have a local cat with special diet needs, and his owner drops off a bag of his food for me every week, so he can still "roam" (all the way to my porch, LOL) and stay on his diet. If you can't find an owner, then please check the cat at the vet for chip, health, etc. And get used to the idea you may now have a cat!
We do the same here. Our garage is older and has those shelves that hang from the ceiling. We put those nice double-size insulated cat houses on the shelves - out of the wind and elements - for any neighborhood cats needing a place to crash. Food/water is left on top of the cat to keep from other critters. The car is how the cats get onto the shelves. Good system! Love seeing a pair of eyes looking back at me on a nasty night. You are just wonderful!

Pretty much. That's why cats are really quite smart. Other animals have been domesticated by humans - cats self-domesticated. They know a good symbiotic relationship when they see one. A win-win.

Ps: the neighbor was informed and he's ok with it since he's not home 80% of the time.
wow. a cat tree> I have a cat and I doubt have one. I should, though...
Load More Replies...Stop feeding other people's cats guys! Our old cat was on a special diet and kept getting ill...it turned out neighbour was feeding him. But do keep giving them all the love! PS If you think it's a stray... take it to the vet for a check up and adopt it.
Put a collar on your cat, and add a message tag for the neighbours, if you think he's dining elsewhere. Cats lie a lot.
Load More Replies...I have five cats. This is not one of them. Woke up with him sleeping peacefully in my bed. He lurked around for a couple of weeks, coming and going somehow that I couldn't figure out and then disappeared. I wish he'd come back. stray-cat-...0b95e3.jpg
Load More Replies...This is basicly how cats became domesticated. They started hunting vermin attracted by human aggriculture, and oneday just wandered into the hut and decided they lived there now.
Pretty much. That's why cats are really quite smart. Other animals have been domesticated by humans - cats self-domesticated. They know a good symbiotic relationship when they see one. A win-win.
Load More Replies...We were watching tv the other night with the patio open because of the heat. All of a sudden our cat starts going mental. We look. A big fat orange Tom was just sat in our kitchen. Cats are super cheeky.
