Getting old is a privilege that not many people have. With age comes wisdom, patience, and certainty that ensures stability in everyday life. Many of us look up to experienced leaders and believe they have the know-how to secure a bright future.
So, why do so many people want to avoid aging? When you look around, it seems that many are prepared to do a lot to look and feel younger. Expensive creams, cosmetic and surgical procedures, insanely strict routines—anything to keep that clock from ticking.

This one is unavoidable and present in the majority of us. We simply don’t want to leave this world—there’s too much going on here. It’s funny (not ‘haha’ funny) how she has self esteem issues with aging and yet everyone is an absolute <ùnt to her/ about her with everything she does, it’s like a revolving circle. I was sort of hoping maybe a good plastic surgeon could help. First she needs to dissolve every ounce of filler. That is not helping. Then she needs that type of face lift where they actually tighten the muscles underneath. Then her plastic surgeon needs to judiciously use whatever they use for minor tweaks. And then she can come out looking like a beautiful woman, probably late 40's early 50 ish. And rock that s**t. She needs to talk to Cher's plastic surgeon (but not whoever does her eye makeup).

This is not necessarily true. Sure, there are quite a few diseases that become more common as people age, and your body doesn’t feel the same as when you were 20, but that doesn’t mean you spend the whole day lying in bed. You are a little slower, but being slow isn’t necessarily bad. By the time you’re old, you learn to enjoy taking your time doing things. You don’t have the same need to rush life like you did when you were young.

No, not 20 forever, but the idea of "youth" is pushed on us pretty much until we're in the grave. Still, it's unrealistic for women to try and carve decades off of our faces (and bodies) in photos to try and convince anybody we're THAT much younger than we are. Eep. J. Lo, you really don't have to go this hard. You're beautiful as you are.

All in all, getting old is not as bad as it might seem. In fact, many older people are quite happy with their lives. They have perspective on life and don’t take things for granted. Accepting the way you look is also a part of it. Maybe the people on this list will grow into it too one day.

A teenage girl went missing a couple of years ago in Germany (unfortunately, she is still missing to this day). The media were quick to realise a search photo of her, but this was so heavily filtered, she was totally unrecognisable. It was ages before they released an accurate one. Maybe if they had done this sooner, someone may have recognised her (assuming she was/is still alive)

This is less 'embarrassing' and more epidemic of low-self esteem because everyone feels they have to live a perfect curated life online. I deleted all my social media's and felt so much better. I would use filters to look good. But then I realised I don't need to look good to random people around the world for 1 second as they scroll through Instagram.

As a woman who continues to age, I can admit I'm not really happy with a lot of it but I've come to think of it as paying tiny bits of youth and beauty to be able to continue to live. All of the people that 'Pay your surgeon very well to break the spell of aging', that youth and beauty can never be recaptured. But at least the Plastic surgeons will be able to fatten up their bank accounts.

This is absolutely crazy. I'm 46 and Im just glad I'm here. Aging is a privilege. I don't color my greys, don't use filters, and the other day someone (at work) complimented my skin. I laugh a lot and that's good enough for me! F**k those standards that say everyone should look like they're in their 20s.

What I find unpleasant is when , in a newspaper, when reporting the death of somebody, the next of kin gives a filtered photo of the deceased to be printed. Why would you want to pretend that a loved one actually looked like that? There should be some dignity given surely.
