40 Bizarre Beliefs People Will Defend Until The End Of Days, As Revealed By Folks Online
Have you ever found yourself arguing with someone you perhaps even don’t know that well about a topic that some people might find not that interesting or important and you felt right about it to a point where you would be ready to do whatever it takes to prove your point? Well, it’s probably safe to say that you’re not the only one who has found themselves in such a situation. For this reason, Reddit user @u/Youhavemystapler11 was curious enough to ask others online “What’s a hill you’re willing to die on every time?”. The question that received 32k upvotes encouraged others online to share matters that they strongly believe in and would not let anyone change their minds.
A lot of these answers included topics on certain people’s behaviors, social constructs, and everyday encounters that might sometimes seem to be annoying, such as people who won’t use a turn signal when they’re driving. If you want to read some more interesting answers, you can find them here and here.
What is one thing that you hardly believe in that perhaps wasn’t mentioned in the list? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments down below!

If you're against free school lunches for kids who need it, you're an a*****e, period, full stop.
Edit: can yall stop trying to debate with me, I'm not changing my mind. If you don't mind children going hungry at a place they're legally required to be, you're a f*****g a*****e. For like 3 or 4 different reasons. I'm not responding to your comments.
The was some Republican (what else) in Pennsylvania who opposed free school lunches because they "spoil the children."
Load More Replies...I'm a teacher now and spend between $100-150 a week to help feed my kids snacks, apples, bananas, and noodle bowls. If a kid is more focused on their hunger than school, it's a wasted day for them. I go through 4-5 boxes of cereal a week and a couple gallons of milk, too. I remember being them when I was a kid and hunger sucks
It is so sad but you are a hero. You should not feel responsible (that would be somebody elses responsibility) but I really admire that you do! I hope it will get better for the kids and therefore for you.
Load More Replies...If you don't want to support a healthy, civilized society, go live on a f*****g island by yourself.
If you think of yourself as "pro-life" because you believe in protecting embryos and fetuses, but oppose free lunches for school children, you are a bleeping hypocrite.
Load More Replies...Regardless of the economics of the households, lunches provided by the schools is a great idea. It leaves less pressure and energy in the evening and/or morning to have to come up with a school-safe lunch that is healthy and allowable, and there's less worry about forgetting lunches at home. The students don't have to go to school feeling self-conscious about what was packed and having kids judge their family economic situations based on what was in their lunches and how it's packed. There would be no reason to beg for cookies and attempts to trade with other kids. It's a win/win because the teachers would be assured that the kids come back to class with nourished, energized and able to focus.
100% agree with you. I'm in New Zealand and a huge percentage of kids are provided with both breakfast and lunch at zero cost to families. A child with a full stomach is settled, calm and able to learn.
My dad was a teacher. The school that didn't have a cafeteria fed ELEMENTARY children whose parents didn't send them to school with food lunches
Every day. They fed those kids every day. I often wondered if it came up in parent teacher interviews or if they just assumed those people didn't have the money for it.
Load More Replies...I despair for humanity. Every kid deserves to eat. That's why we congregate in societies, to protect the weak amongst us. Instead so many people have that "what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine" attitude. They'd rather lose money than give something for free to someone else. Case in point: USA health care policies. We could all pay less and cover everyone, but then the insurance companies wouldn’t make their astronomical profits. We can't have that, can we?
If you don't believe that school kids deserve to eat, you are scum. Period.
Load More Replies...I agree with you. Breakfast and lunch should be free at school. So that children who are experiencing food insecurity can have at least two meals.
I absolutely support free lunches…for the families that need it. If families are able to pay, they should. Families who can afford to pay for lunch but don’t shouldn’t be my tax burden to pay but I will gladly support free lunches for those in need
Please read Strange One's response above. i agree with them. i used to take this point of view here, and it isn't bad, i just wonder if it's complete. how do we know what families can/cannot afford lunches? i am an instructor at the university level and fullly 15-20% of my students are food insecure. i ALSO used to be a dice dealer at a casino, and have seen supposedly wealthy families whose incomes on paper looked good, but whose breadwinner was losing it all at the tables after work. plus, everyone receiving the same lunch reduces the stigma of the "rich vs poor" in the cafeteria: those who are bringing their own are well off enough to, but only those who receive cafeteria food are the poor kids. plus, it incentivizes us to feed our kids better when the wealthiest kids have to eat what the poorest kids do. All of a sudden, institutional cheese and Salisbury steak with a limp blop of creamed veg won't cut it, and THAT BENEFITS EVERYONE
Load More Replies...Interesting to me that the poster has comments trying to change their opinion, when the entire theme is literally "Opinions people will defend to the death"...who things they're going to change this person's mind?
Absolutely. This includes anyone who wants to shame poor parents with lunch debts.
This needs to be higher. School lunches should be covered under the expenses for education that our tax dollars pay. If there isn't enough in that fund, maybe politicians should be paid less or maybe instead of spending $722 billion a year on the DOD, more money can go towards education in this country.
Yup, NYS gave the Buffalo Bills basically $800M towards a new stadium, as "it was 'extra' money from gambling income" or something like that. Very easy to find that money. But $122M/year for universal free lunch program? Nope, way too expensive.
Growing up, my family didn't have much money, so my siblings and I would have the free lunches. We got bullied for it all the time for it, even by people who get it themselves.
We got no money for school lunch, we got bombs to build and prisons to run!
Because bombs are much more important that feeding children./s
Load More Replies...I feel these are the same people that are against a universal healthcare system because “socialism”. As if that’s something bad.
Why would anyone even argue about this? Sad world we live in today.
This is a ridiculous argument. Let’s see a few of those people go without food for a while!
When I was a kid, Republicans said free lunches needed to stop because 'Children should eat at home with their parents." Like the parents had any food either, sigh.....
Are they feeding them "real" food? Or mostly processed gmo garbage? ...
Wait...people don't like free school lunches? But you would have to spend your money, and kids could starve.
The thought of children not being able to get free lunch at school is really F....D Up!!! How could anyone even give this a thought? This really makes me sick!!!!
There’s nothing wrong with it, but sadly not everyone can afford to pack a bag. The point of free lunches isn’t to discourage packed lunches, but to provide the choice of a free meal for those who need it.
Load More Replies...What if they have no food at home? Also, where I live at least, kids can't go home during school day except in highschool.
Load More Replies...Health insurance should cover the whole body. The fact that vision and dental are separate things is a pure cash grab.
It's not "Babysitting" when a dad is watching their own children; It is parenting.
Freedom of speech does not mean complete freedom from consequences.
You are free to voice absolutely any opinion you may have. Other people are free to challenge it, judge you, or even disown you for those words.
Equal pockets for women.
Seperation of church and state! Keep religion out of politics and decisions that effect everyone
There is a reason the Founding Fathers explicitly kept church and state separated. They knew the history of bloody wars that were fought on religious grounds, so did not want their new country to have a “state religion”, but to make religion a personal choice—-and that choice a Constitutional right. They knew religious bias has NO place in government, as that leads to persecution, so they purposely did not set up the US to be a place that makes such government sanctioned persecution a part of life here.
Children are legally required to be in school, and often have to stay in the building during lunch. We should feed them healthy, nutritious food for free. Every single child.
And be made to go to school while sick, while parents are threatened jail time and removal of their kids if the parents keep them home a day or few longer until they're better.
No one should need to go into debt for their health
Or their education. Or be hugely overcharged for rent on a small apartment, or the mortgage for a starter home.
Children beauty pageants are creepy as f**k and parents who subject their children to such scrutiny and judgement are crazy, and don’t deserve children.
People who get extremely disappointed when they discover the gender of their unborn child aren't emotionally mature enough to raise a child.
And people who comment on (mostly) men's "inability" to produce a male offspring (saying things like "oh, too weak to make a boy, eh", surprisingly and disgustingly common thing in Russia) should be surgically prevented from procreating.
Wanting to be childless or not even marry doesn't mean something is wrong with you.
Disagreeing is not a personal attack.
*gasp* you disagree with my opinion! I feel attacked and helpless now /s
keep the goddamn sponge OUT OF THE SINK
You can pry my Oxford comma from my cold, dead, and angry hands!
Term limits for every branch of government in the U.S.
Retirement age sounds reasonable. Government needs a huge infusion of new blood, new ideas, new viewpoints. Politicians are making decisions now that will affect generations to come, and I would like at least some representatives from those generations to have a voice. Also, there should be a limit to how many consecutive elections you can be on the ballot for. It’s perfectly fine for politics to be your career—-for a while—-but not one you only leave by dying of extreme old age.
Public libraries are undervalued by many.
My pet peeve. Small town libraries can absolutely become the life blood of an area when they provide computers and printers and classes especially for stuff like life skills like understanding taxes and mortgage, as well as literacy for children. I used to be on the board for our village library and I've seen children who've never held a book in their hand become enchanted at books. Video and movies are nice and all, but books open entire universes in your mind.
The kind of people who want power are the worst kind of people to have power. Power should be a responsibility, not a reward
If your ego is so large that you think you can run the country, you should definitely not be the one to run the country.
People who love you don’t hit you. Also, you don’t hit people/animals you love.
Start that in childhood please. No honey, he did not hit you because he secretly likes you. He hit you because he’s an abusive a*****e child who is probably being raised by an abusive a*****e adult—-who should f*****g well know better.
Repeal Citizen United.
Nothing to discuss. Politicians should have to list where every freaking dollar comes from.
Using your children as content for social media is child exploitation.
Why not just put a sign on your front door that says "Welcome, Pedos. Children live here."
We shouldn't have to work two minimum wage jobs to afford enough food to survive healthily
The Manitoba government thinks minimum wage is only for "young adults just starting out in the workforce. It's not supposed to be a career goal. We're not raising the minimum wage to match inflation". These people are so out of touch about what's out there for jobs and how much is needed to live. $10 for a bag of oranges, now, at the supposed cheap grocery stores. You would have to work about 45 min to afford a bag of oranges.
The right to die should be universal.
I’m very sorry but I’m afraid I don’t understand this statement? Can anyone please explain?
Unpaid internship are not good for students, a poor student can't afford the costs that go along with the internship.
Die Hard is a Christmas movie. The plot does not exist if it happens at any other time. John McClain is there to visit his family for Christmas. The bad guys are at Nakatomi Plaza because there's less security during the holidays. The people who are taken hostage are there for a Christmas party. Christmas is an integral part of the movie, therefore it is a Christmas movie.
A bigger debate is if The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Christmas movie or Halloween movie.
The McDonald’s Coffee lady lawsuit WAS NOT FOR ATTENTION OR FRIVOLOUS! The Coffee shouldn’t have been that hot.
Edit: according to the American Burn Association, “water at 155°F (68°C) can cause a 3rd degree burn in 1 second.”
……. **Her coffee was ~190°F (~88°C),** +35°F above a third degree burn in 1 second. Meaning she literally had .15 seconds to react before her skin melted.
No one needs to care if others like/hate the same things.
Put pineapple on your pizza.
Like sports team X.
Stick a candle wherever it fits.
If no one gets hurt, no one should care.
Getting compliments as a Dad for normal parenting behavior.
Yes, I can feed, bath and put to bed a 9,7, and 2 year old. No I didn't need to call my wife for direction. No, the house didn't burn down.
The praise you are heaping upon me doesn't make me feel good. It just makes me feel bad for you, your kids and your husband.
The purpose of praise is not always to make someone feel good. When I praised my students, it was to encourage them to continue their efforts and to identify models to other students. You may not need to hear the praise, but there may be fathers in the room who need to hear you getting it.
That 75% of the USA needs to retake an American Government class. The fact that most people don’t even know we have 3 branches of government baffles me.
We can start off by making ALL elected officials pass the immigration test.
PUBLIC BATHROOM/STALL DOORS SHOULD GO FLOOR TO CEILING!!!
People getting on subways or elevators before letting people off. Makes no sense. I say my piece every time I see it.
Zipper merge lane. It's every other car no matter what.
I agree, but try getting all the other jack-wallabies out there to follow the plan.
Boneless wings are just nuggets... and that's fine, but don't charge me wing prices for nuggets spun in sauce.
Radio stations should play more than 250 songs.
And DJs should NOT talk over or cut off the beginning and/or end of a song! Additionally, does the station really have to stop playing music for hours on end, just to play some a*****e’s talk radio show? I want to jam to tunes during my commute, not listen to some out of touch a*****e jabbering for hours with other out of touch assholes. I doubt I’m alone in this. Talk radio should be limited to its own stations, not steal hours of music from other stations.
Tangled is better than Frozen.
I think they’re both nice. Can we just agree that movies are fun?
People are completely fine with immoral/morally gray actions as long as it’s someone they like doing it.

These are not bizarre (except one or two near the bottom). These are actually kind, common sense, human rights centred beliefs that many countries which are not the US adhere to. What a strange title for the list.
I believe it's on the 18th of July 2024....unless the groundhog sees it's shadow, in which case it'll probably be pushed until 28 November 2057.
Load More Replies...Didn't see this one but - Civil Asset Forfeiture as it's practiced now is nothing but legalized theft and should have been declared unconstitutional a long time ago. ...Also the SCOTUS-invented idea of "Qualified Immunity" is Bulls*it.
Why the down vote? Some of these lists are ridiculous.
Load More Replies...Maybe because you invent nonsensical words such as "sill list" and "unconseey".
