At a small fraction of the price they could have hired a voice imitator to do it seamlessly, so yes a crazy effort/tribute.

Luxo jr was actually the first animation they did (With the ball) and it was very (VERY) early internet -- but I found a clip of it on the website back then, when it got an award for best short (I believe). I have loved that little lamp ever since.

The animation studio likes to make constant but subtle references in its movies. Not only does it sprinkle little hints that help tie each film in with all the others, but it also likes to refer to the real world. Not to mention all the metaphors hidden throughout!

It’s because of these hidden details that there are plenty of people out there who believe that every single Pixar movie happens in the same universe and that each film is connected. In fact, hidden details have inspired some fans to try and piece all the movies together into a single, coherent timeline.

Just look at the neck of the guitar. The animator put enough attention to ensure that the frets are realistically spaced, so I was already expecting that they would pay attention to the chording hand.

For example, Jon Negroni has painstakingly outlined just what happens in this universe by creating the so-called Pixar Theory.

Others have even created websites like this one based on that theory. (Spoiler alert, apparently, Monsters, Inc. happens sometime between the year 4500 and 5000, and involves time travel because humans have, supposedly, been wiped out.)

Dying or removing? There are cremes to remove hairs, which you have to put on for some minutes, before you can wash it away and the haires are gone. I thought it was that cream.

I think that was actually the opening scene of "Toy Story 3" when this happened, but it was a video showing Andy when he was the same age as he was in the first movie.

Motion capture doesn't have less quality. Animators still have to go through each frame to refine. It's simply a way to get realistic expression and movement, similar to how some drawn Disney movies used actors and even live sets to give animators realistic models to work off of. Clearly Pixar puts a lot of detail and effort into their animation. But saying that motion capture is of lesser quality is like saying that computer animation is of lesser quality compared to drawn animation, which is of course not true, they're simply different methods. Plus a movie is judged by more than its animation. Instead of recognizing this Pixar acts like a sore loser.

It's not the same thing as using live action references. While yes, animators still have to tweak the motion capture, it's still faster and cheaper to use, and it often looks REALLY uncanny, as it did in Happy Feet, which did NOT deserve the Oscar.

Immediately after birth, shark pups leave their mother and survive on their own, possibly due to the threat that the mother shark will attack. So, they don't know their mothers either. :(

I don't understand why people are so proud of where they were born. Nationalism is divisive and often times racist. Nationalism creates an us vs. them mentality. You didn't choose what country you were born into, that was an accident of birth. You didn't accomplish anything by being born on a particular side of a border.

Kid Notices Something That Most Of Us Wouldn't Have: Up(2009), Cars 2 (2011)

Home with a sick kid today watching Up. Suddenly the 7 year old says, "Mom, wait. I've seen this scene before in another movie!' We pause and I take a picture of it (pic below), and within seconds he navigates to Cars 2 and pauses the screen on this exact scene (pic 2 below). What?!! They're the same. How in the world did he notice this? Unbelievable.
