Just picture your 8-year-old self for a moment. Remember turning off the lights in the basement and running upstairs like there’s no tomorrow? Or crying about that watermelon seed that will definitely grow into a full-size fruit inside your belly? What about the thrill of draping blankets across the furniture to create the most elaborate fort ever?

We all have hoped to return to those carefree childhood days at some point in our lives. But while we can’t time travel back to the past (at least not yet!), we can look at pictures that make us feel like little kids again. Luckily for us, plenty of examples can be found in a wholesome corner of the internet called 'Ouch, Right in the Childhood'. This Facebook page allows us to reminisce about the good times by sharing nostalgic memes and pics that speak directly to our inner child.

So buckle up and get ready to take a stroll down memory lane because we’ve compiled some of the most accurate and hilarious posts that hit right in the feels. Continue scrolling, upvote the ones you could relate to all too well, and let us know what you miss most about being a kid in the comment section below! Keep reading to also find an in-depth interview with licensed clinical psychologist Dr. Jesse Matthews about the relationship between our past and present selves.

How odd for me to see a tribute to Robin's roles that doesn't include Mork, THE role that made him famous and the very first time I was lucky enough to see him (on "Happy Days" and then on his own series with Pam Dawber as Mindy). He was one of a kind, that's for sure.

The more we find out about how much Robin Williams gave of himself to others, the more obvious it becomes that he just couldn't do it anymore. Few people have such generous souls when it comes to recognizing pain and need in others. I hope he knew how loved he was.

That was a sneaky way they lampooned people. Everything about the Addams is opposite typical America; the parents have a healthy, visually affectionate, loving relationship while the others of the time could barely even acknowledged their relationship.

When we were little, we used to make the world our playground, let our ideas run free, and find magic in the most mundane scenarios. We were almost hardwired to be curious and adventurous, but unfortunately, the process of socialization and schooling might have robbed us of our imagination and caused us to become less creative over time.

"As we get older, our lives become more complicated and we take on more responsibility," Dr. Jesse Matthews told Bored Panda. "Since this becomes our focus, we have less time available for fun, and we tend to view play as something that can’t happen until after work."

However, amusing ourselves and goofing around was one of our primary focuses as children. The psychologist explained that we equate having fun with happiness and view our childhood as when that was more plentiful. "And because we had so much less responsibility and fewer worries than we have as adults, we think of that period as carefree as well," he added.

A couple of interesting facts: 1) His hair style was a result of him trying to save money on haircuts. It became his company's logo and he could no longer cut his hair even though he wanted to. 2) He took no money for his paintings. He donated them to PBS and they auctioned it off for significant amounts. So Bob Ross was actually a huge donor to public funded television.

"These tend to be truths for many people, though nostalgia certainly plays a role," Dr. Matthews said and added that we often see our childhoods as happy and carefree, even if they might have been fairly stressful or difficult. "Because of nostalgia, we may be more likely to remember good things or things that match our views on that period, rather than some of the more negative things. It’s one of the ways people romanticize the past, which they may also do for their high school, college, or single young adult days."

But dwelling on the past can easily distract us from the present. According to the psychologist, people can sometimes get so obsessed with their childhood memories that they forget to lead fulfilling lives today. "Like anything else, you don’t want to take this to an extreme," he suggested. "There is a difference between remembering or reconnecting with the past and living in the past."

"You can’t go back, nor can you recreate your childhood, college, or any other time in your life. The thing I always say to people is to embrace growth and move on in life, but don’t forget who you were before. The past will always be part of you, and memories are proof of that. Hopefully, you have a lot of good ones and you will have the opportunity to create many more."

I had a first gen Gameboy with all those god awful attachments. The original had no backlight, was shaped oddly, sounded horrible, and the screen was kinda hard to see. But I loved it just the same.

Although stumbling upon memes about your childhood can hit you with a blast from the past and make you nostalgic about the good old days, they evoke positive emotions too. You see, Dr. Matthews stated that our memories aren’t as good as we like to think they are. "We often have incomplete or inaccurate memories of things from our past. Much of the detail is there, but we may not be able to access it readily, unless it is triggered by something. This is part of why seeing things like pictures or jokes actually triggers can be exciting. Hearing a childhood joke, seeing a photo of us with a friend or sibling at a certain age, or hearing an old song can bring back not only memories, but positive feelings."

As we get older and gain different experiences that help us construct new values and morals, we sometimes look at our past selves from a distance. Dr. Matthews told us it’s certainly interesting to him as a psychologist to study how we look back on our childhood behavior. "For one, it has diagnostic value when I am trying to assess whether a person could have ADHD or for how long they may have been depressed or anxious."

"More than that, however, it gives insight into our personalities," he continued. "If you were a talkative and outgoing child, chances are you still are today. Same thing if you were quiet and reserved." The psychologist noted that looking back is also useful if a person feels lost or is trying to reconnect with who they have been in their lives. "For example, sometimes people get so bogged down with responsibility and things they have to do, that they no longer engage in hobbies, have many interests, or do much other than work. Reflecting on the past might help a person to remember who they were before and what they enjoyed, possibly to change course in the present."

I loved this game as a kid. It's too bad that they took it out of Windows. I heard it had something to do with it being designed for a specific Windows version, and they didn't want to completely rebuild it for newer ones because it was free and therefore wouldn't make them any money.

I would argue that In The Heat of The Night with Sidney Poitier is the first black superhero movie. Poitier plays a black detective confronted by a racist plantation owner who slaps Poitier. Although it wasn't in the script, Poitier said that the condition for him to stay in the movie is that he slaps the dude back even harder. The director gave in. This was 1967. It was a huge "cultural shock". It was the first movie in which a black man is presented as a self-aware, self-protecting, dignified individual who will not put up with racism. Sidney Poitier is the superhero.

We’re well aware of how easy it is to get absorbed by our daily troubles and how life can become busy and tiring. As adults, we might lose our sense of freedom and feel that our tendency to self-censor ourselves puts a big creative block on our thinking. To avoid going round in circles, we can try to reconnect and pay attention to that little voice somewhere deep inside us. After all, our curiosity, lightheartedness, and positivity may be slightly different today but it’s still there, waiting to be uncovered.

The original voice of Scooby from the classic cartoons was Don Messick who also voiced another classic dog, Astro from "The Jetsons"! Don was a voiceover superstar. Some you may know: Bamm-Bamm Rubble, Hamton J. "Connecting with our inner child is a wonderful way to reconnect with ourselves, especially if we have felt lost, stuck, or in a rut in life," Dr. Matthews explained. "Childhood is simple, compared to adulthood, and it’s in the complexity of life that we often forget things like being mindful, creative, having fun, or not worrying about everything. And being able to do these things, especially when life isn’t always easy, is a form of freedom."

so we have these metal gates we close over every night, indicating that the shop is closed. and every other night someone will push open the gates and come in. sometimes they ask 'are you open?' and instead of being nice now, i just go 'no! that's why the gates were closed!' i have a coworker who used to really politely say 'no, i'm really sorry.' and now she also just yells about the gates :P

I remember working at a grocery store during one summer in college. I always held a special level of contempt for those people that showed up just before midnight (closing). I was talking with someone else that worked there and said something to the effect of "don't you just hate those people". She said that she loved her late nighters without a hint of sarcasm. No one else was around so it's not like she had to cover what I was saying for a customer or anything. The only thing I could think of was "oh just bite me".

I pulled up to work one morning, I hadn't even gotten out of my car, when some woman who had followed me into my complex after I unlocked the gates say, 'are you open?' I was still getting out of my car, hadn't even gotten close to the doors of the shop, let alone open them. Told her we open in half an hour, she wanted to know why I couldn't open now, I was here.

Walter Cronkite on the CBS Evening News—-you could trust he was telling you the true facts, with zero spin. Live embedded journalists in Vietnam. Having an older brother over there. Looking at the TV screen to see if he’s there, while hoping you don’t see him on a stretcher being loaded into a huey. (He came home with malaria, extreme exhaustion, and jungle rot from his knees down (kind of like athlete’s foot, from having to keep your boots on for days, even if your socks are wet—-Lt Dan was right to be obsessed with clean dry socks).

The tape does degrade though. If it lived long enough to not get the tape eaten, the picture and audio quality would degrade to unwatchability. I still very much appreciate my Dragonheart dvd, still watchable, the vhs was played so much that the audio is wonky and the picture is 3/4 noise lines.

Used to ride mini quads down huge gravel hills get our own legs run over and just let it bleed until we got home when the street lights came on we were 8. Got so scraped up one summer my aunt was picking gravel out of me knee at Christmas that finally worked it's way to the surface. Such fun those days were. Never forget how my friends and I laughed so hard at how clumsy we were.

For so many of us, as little kids, Mr. Rogers was the only man in our lives who didn't yell at us or hit us or insult us. He loved us, just as we are. There are a bunch of us who wouldn't be alive today without Mr. Rogers telling us we mattered to him.

It was a rare treat to see Bill Nye (the Science Guy) or Fred Rogers (aka Mr. Rogers) on anyone else's show other than their own. For example, both of them visited Sesame Street on different occasions. Here's Bill (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1Zy5O_jopg) and here's Fred (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqWDjJRhCkc), both awesome!

My aunt had a large rug like this in her house, my sister and I basically used that as our only form of entertainment as we always had to be there to visit. 20 minutes into visiting and the adults are congregating in one room while sister and I are left alone to be bored.

I started suffering extreme insomnia at the age of 4. My child logic said that as long as I had a toe in bed, I was technically in bed. I pulled all kinds of toys and games (in 1983 we didn't have TVs in every room or cell phones/tablets to play) into the bed with me so I had something to occupy myself until my body gave out and I fell asleep

Every town had a random shop that would sell dolphin figurines, indoor fountains, glow in the dark stars, and fibre optic lamps. Ours was called Presence and had an adult section with silly stuff for hen parties 😂

I still have a dolphin wind chime, it's lived in the same spot opposite the front door since 1997. It only ever makes a noise when I open the front door. I got it because my autistic daughter liked it and she is the reason it's still there. :D

What would freak kids out, was if they knew that between takes, the actors would remove those hot and heavy heads to smoke a cigarette (or joint). The heads would get moved around in a wheelbarrow!

Remember when I took my daughter to pediatrician when she was sick. While in the waiting room, Teletubbies were on. Channel changing was forbidden per sign posted on wall. Daughter was about 10 and said....."Look Mom, Teletubbies......you LOVE them", while laughing hysterically. Oblivious to other small children in the room I replied "Can't look......they make my eyes bleed". My daughter laughed, other parents glared at me with much nastiness. No regrets.

MTV used to mostly play music but late at night they had Liquid Television which introduced me to some real crazy animated c**p like The Head, The Maxx and Aeon Flux.

I'm not a big gamer, but my boyfriend is and he's always following the latest news on gaming on Twitter. So I get to observe. Just from how it seems on the outside, gamers are either getting really bored with what's been coming out lately, or the developers are going through a creative block. That's just how it's been feeling. Lots of pushed back release dates, overly hyped games with tons of bugs, recycled plots and lack of diverse characters with limited facial expressions. This is just based on my observance. I do like video games but nothing's really piqued my interest since PS3.
