We were the envy of the neighborhood. Sand box and a swing set. Both a greenhouse and shed so you could pretend one was a house and another was work. So many other imaginary play options. Everybody's yard had their own fun uniqueness.

I lived for the creek. Catching tadpoles and minnows.

Had a sand pit, but the caveat was that it was filled with builders sand (thanks Dad) cut your hands to shreds!

I deeply regret that todays young ones generally aren't encouraged to experience activities like these. I've stored memories just like the ones depicted in this photograph, from the 1980's deep within my heart, and those times are the ones i miss the most.

When I was about 8, we were planning on laying new sod, so the entire yard was dug up. Nothing but nice black dirt. I don't remember what happened, probably some kind of emergency that used the funds for our new sod, but for about 4 months or so I was in heaven.

Yep, played with my dolls in my brothers' Tonkas. Doll moved dirt during the day and dressed up and went out after. Didn't see why they couldn't do both!
