As our society evolves, we realize that some things we considered normal didn’t necessarily mean they were right. At some point, women didn’t have any rights and people were kept as slaves, but eventually some people pointed out that we should change it and now these things are completely unacceptable even if they happen.
By that logic, there are things now we consider normal that we eventually won’t. Reddit users shared some of the things that society still doesn’t question but they find creepy and it might be that they are the only ones to think that, or it could be they are onto something.

When people document (video record or take a photo or write an article) themselves or other people when helping the impoverished, especially those videos of influencers on Youtube vlogging and ‘helping’ the homeless, showing their faces and stuff. BS and creepy for me. If you help, just help, no need to let others know.
Yes, and because they’re focused on themselves instead of what others want/need, the “help” they push on people can be intrusive, not useful, or even harmful.

Not all homeless and vulnerable people want to be recorded like that. Some may be hiding from dangerous people and don't want to be found. That should be on the minds of anyone putting a camera in random people's faces. I know it can happen anywhere, but when it's directed/targeted at someone and they're being surprised with an unsolicited interview on top of that, it can put them in a difficult situation. Some may just not want to even come across as ungrateful and act okay with it. Like, what do you do if you're in that situation. I don't even like it when the news teams go to soup kitchens and film all the guests eating there. Not all homeless people are out in plain view on the streets. Most try to be discreet and hide, blend in with everyone else in public. There's resources out there and they may be working on trying to pick themselves up out of a tough bind.
💯 They could be runaways and have escaped domestic violence. They probably don't want their abusive ex or parents to see a video of them online showing where they are. Even if they're not, no-one wants to be recorded at the lowest point in their life to be shown around for entertainment. Only egotistical attention seekers who want the world to tell them how wonderful they are do this.

Completely agree, but hopefully the videos being out there encourage people who don't normally give, to give in the hope that they'll get lucky and be rewarded for it. Also, it's definitely getting other 'attention loving' people to give wads of cash to the less fortunate, however f****d up their reasoning is, at least the impoverished are benefitting from their showy performance.
Please ask the beneficiaries if they wish to be on camera.

I can understand this if they are trying to promote a charity but it is not nice when done simply to gain clicks.
I see nothing wrong with basically saying, I helped, would you like to join me?. Many books have been written by people who got invoilved and they inspired others. So for some, it might be bragging, but for others it documents the effects of volunteer work.
Worse is all the videos they show on the news about people being attacked in subways and stuff. What kind of an a-hole do you have to be to see some innocent (usually elderly) person getting the c**p beat out of them and grab you're phone, instead of helping? 99% of the time there's no weapon involved, so the risk of helping would be minimal.
I was always taught that doing a kindness for someone didn't count if you tried taking credit for it.
And yet whatever the motivation, "good" is still done, someone is still helped. Far more so than by those that complain about motivation.
I give more of my disposable income than I really should be and I manage to do it without exploiting the people I’m giving it to. You should try it some time.

Difficult. I'm nobody so I can help and the world does not zoom in with a camera. It is very hard to help those in need in the right way. So many have mental health problems and/or drugs and alcohol problems. We need to pool together and create safe havens. I am uneducated in these things but will help in any way I can. I hope people who know more than I do step up and advise the rest of us. Please.

I think it's weird that most couches don't come with washable cushion covers. Everyone finds that normal, but they would think it's weird if someone just slept on a bare mattress without ever putting a sheet on it. When in reality it's exactly the same thing. I bought a couch with cushion covers you can take off and put in the washing machine for that reason.

The whole "we're all family here" at the workplace. It's like some weird brainwashing to get you to enjoy your job more than you should. Like, no, you're not my family. I'm here to do work and get paid, and that's the only reason I'm here.
Family channels. Imagine having to live your entire life on camera, with little to no privacy without being able to consent for it. Also to my knowledge there are no current laws that protect child influencers income like child actors have. If your content can’t exist without your child, it’s their job not yours.
Open door policies in families. My in-laws just walk in whenever they want and I hate it.

My dad used to walk with his fingers around the back of my neck when we were in public. He could bever understand why I squirmed away from that and batted his hand away. It just felt like a power thing, it made me feel small and vulnerable. I see it occasionally in public with guys and their girlfriends and dads with their kids and I always get goosebumps from remembering what that feels like.

There's this sales technique called "mirroring" where the sales person mimics the body language of the customer to gain rapport. I think a lot of people also do it subconsciously to some extent. Anyway this really creeps me out.
Never encountered this but salespeople, or other strangers, calling me by my first name gives me the creeps.

I've got one that has been infuriating me to no end + is creepy: trend in app games that promote horrible behavior such as lying that you are pregnant to win, molesting a female so you win, cheating spouse and victim has to become homeless with a baby. So messed up and kids/teens are going to play and think this is acceptable behavior!

I always add handshaking to this list. We just had a pandemic (I mean, we basically still do have one) and lots of people don't even wash their hands after they use the bathroom. Handshaking is gross but you look weird or rude if you decline shaking someone's hand.
I fully agree with pretty much all of these, and can expound the one about the 8 hours of "staff bonding;" the place I worked in for the last 18 years of my working life brought in some "behavioral "experts"" to hold day-long sessions (we were paid if we participated) in which each person was supposed to tell a lot about themselves, including "allowing yourselves to completely vulnerable. Open up to everyone, especially if something traumatic has happened to you." That alone was creepy enough, but I had just lost my son (accident) and was in no shape to "share" with anyone. I totally avoided the 'mandated' sessions for two years until the CEO decided it was stupid and he put a stop to it. NO ONE should ever "have to" share deep grief!!
