There's not a single country that doesn't have problems. But being the leader of the Western world, the United States of America is held to a high standard and its issues are often viewed through a magnifying glass, both internally and internationally. And the subreddit 'A Normal Day In America' is trying to bring some humor to these discussions.

Created in 2014, it now has 33.1k members, and according to the community's 'About' section, it focuses on things like toddlers in tiaras, guns in supermarkets, $100k hospital bills, obese babies, and other "everyday occurrences" in the US.

This is soooooo wrong on every conceivable level. A country where kids even need to do this is more broken than any third world developing nation.

Remember when (during the COVID pandemic) some parents said they were against their kids wearing masks in school because it would traumatise them? They were perfectly happy with their kids going through Active Shooter Drills because is was part of 'normal life' there :(

I just....damn, I couldn't send my kid to school in America - I couldn't live under that daily stress. My biggest worry with my kids at school is if they remembered their snack, are they getting on with the other kids, how much of a state is their uniform going to be in at the end of the day - it's not will they be shot. I don't care how ingrained a culture is, when it is literally killing your children you change it. 1996 saw the one and only school shooting in Scotland, we said it's not happening and handguns were taken out of the equation. It's incorrect that they're all guns are completely illegal, but it's a very strict process - as it should be! Folk handed in their guns willingly. There's only one place school shootings happen regularly, and yet the same place still argues for more guns. It's insane

Sandy Hook happened in my home state of Connecticut . My kids were in kindergarten and 2nd grade in a different town/school, but they went on immediate lock down just in case of copycat.. Arriving at the elementary school at pickup was horrific : it was surrounded by police and parents were kept at a distance. We were not allowed to collect our kids without ID. Many of us parents had been aware of what had happened at the elementary school in Newtown, but there were parents who hadn't received the news and the shock was just as devastating as if our school had been under attack for all of us. Parents crying in both fear and relief that our school wasn't the site. Most of us parents didn't know how to talk to our children about the lock down they experienced. We just smiled as best as we could when our children were released to us, all the while knowing that there were families in Newtown that were identifying their children's bodies. I made my decision then and there to leave the USA.

Not that France has been so much better when my kids were enrolled at an international school - - the fear of terrorists is profound and the primary and collège (elementary and middle schools) were patrolled by armed French army. Some parents liked that the schools were patrolled by armed militia but to me and my kids, it was scary. I do not believe that these militia were a deterent but actually walking adverts for targets. What greater publicity than for a terrorist to claim they took out the militia and a school in one action. Armed guards at a school should not be normalised!

At the school I went to was a k-12 school. The middle school and high school along with grades 4,5 and 6 we did ALICE training. That was hard for me in school. But nothing broke my heart more than hearing what the little kids had to and have to do to even process it. The teachers have to basically explain it like it’s a game. They are the sheep and they can’t let the big bad wolf in so they have to build a barricade but if the wolf isn’t near them they have to run…

What does this do to a kid? I live in Europe. I have a kid that age. I can't immagine what he'd be thinking or telling me when he came home from school after learning how to not-die when someone wants to kill him. FFS!

This fear is in Europe too. We live in France now but my kids were attending primary in Connecticut when Sandy Hook happened, à town 30 minutes away from ours. In France, the international schools were patrolled by French army militia, because anglophones seemed to be targets (Brits, Americans) But not the regular French French schools. As soon as possible, I enrolled my kids in the regular French schools and they relaxed a bit more. My kids just hate the French despite the fact that they are French by birth, but that they go to a school where there aren't armed militia patrolling their school grounds has helped them to relax.

Is it a good idea to solve the problem temporarily? Yes. Is it safe? No. I googled these things, and even the cheapest ($250, free shipping) comes with basic, important safety features. It has a front bar, which not only keeps the front wheels together, but also adds stability to the whole construction. It comes with brakes, which allow a safe means to stop on sloped areas. It is padded, to prevent injuries. It is made from sturdy material, which can survive rough handling. It is easy to adapt in height, to grow with the kid. This build above is a kind, inventive gesture, however in the US there's a big chance that the store is sued in case of an accident and will have to pay a load of money for compensation. PS: And being the old, grumpy European I am, I just not get it that people perceive it as ultimate freedom to not have a compulsory health insurance. In this ancient, terrorized culture of North, West and Middle Europe there is no chance of escaping it. If you are too poor to pay for it yourself, your local government will get this solved.

That's what happens when it's medical care for profit - I'm sure the proper equipment would be a better design overall, probably last longer but a kid this small will need new ones as he grows, unless the proper ones adjust as he grows? I dunno, but knowing they can make this for a fraction of the price must be reassuring. Healthcare for profit is the biggest issue really - I mean, here in Scotland we don't pay anything out of pocket when receiving medical care outside of the national insurance that comes out your wages, even if you aren't working you still get the same care - I just can't get my head around having to worry about affording essential medical care for my children

The great irony is that once upon a time you had to be 21 to enlist or serve in the armed forces. That all changed during World War II when more troops were needed but all the men 21 and older were drafted. So they lowered the draft age. As time wore on after the war people thought "well if they're old enough to fight, they're old enough to vote" and so the 26th amendment was passed. You could but cigarettes at 18, but still couldn't drink so the call became "if they're old enough to serve, they're old enough to drink." Now you have to be 21 to drink and buy cigarettes. Perhaps it's time to raise the enlistment age back to where it was.

While racism was a major part of why the electoral college was made, classism also played a role, as the founders of the constitution, most of whom were wealthy, didn't believe that the average person would be well educated enough to make a good choice in elections.

Why people see it as sign of ultimate freedom, to have a choice out of two parties only, the votes being re-calculated depending on the number of inhabitants of an area and not being able to directly vote their leader, is beyond me.

It's messed up, really. In live in a state that will always vote one way. If I vote different, then my vote is essentially lost. I only go out to vote because our local elections are held at the same time. If it was for president only, I wouldn't vote at all.

The electoral college was established in the Constitution. The 3/5 compromise was established for legislation and taxation purposes not the electoral college. The electoral college was set up mostly because of how vast our nation was (even for the 1780s) and the slow communications of the era. Originally the states were to select a number of people to consider a slate of candidates and choose one for president and one for vice president. Whoever got the most votes when the they were totaled before the Senate was declared president and the runner up was vice president. The system was changed after the 1800 election because of the ambiguities in the system (the electors voted for Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr, both of the same party and it resulted in a tie). At the time most states simply choose the electors through their legislatures, not by popular vote. The problem with the EC now is you're voting for people who are voting for president (and can still vote how they please) and it's a winner take all system in all but two states.

    Billy Harrelson
    Community Member
2 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

Add to that you've really only got two people to vote for (not the intention of the Founders) and you see where it goes wrong. The solution is not to go direct, but to modify the existing system as before. The states retain their EC votes, but are divided into districts by a national commission (and not germandered by the legislature) and whoever wins a district wins a vote (not a person to vote later). Statewide wins the other two votes. This would make the process more fair and you wouldn't know at 10pm on election night who won just because California's polls had just closed (as happened in 2008).

Ah, but freedom is only true American freedom if you can buy it! You're free to go to college, if you can afford it (or you're good at sports - what a qualification and selection process!). You're free to choose your healthcare - if you have money. Strangely the cheapest freedom on the list - and the only one I very happily have to live without - is the freedom of owning guns. Lots n lotsa guns. In the hands of ill-educated, angry and desperate people. ALL AROUND ME.

Not really. The police ALLEGE (and I emphasize "allege" for good reason) that the man responded to the police knock by pointing a loaded gun at the police. Believe it or not, that's not legal. The writer is considering the possibility that the police side of the story may be legitimate, and the victim may not be "innocent" of all crime. HOWEVER, neighbors refute the story, and there's significant reason to believe that he was killed for the "crime" of merely possessing a weapon.

Cops kill more unarmed white people than anyone. I don't really understand why that matters so much to people though. The thing people should remember, the cops are behaving like they they do knowing there are cameras everywhere. Try: Lackluster, We the people university, Audit the audit, to name a few sites where you can see what the police really are. They are thugs. Not all are bad, but most are when it comes to the law.

I don't want to brag, but, I'm an immigrant to France and recently was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, borderline hypertension and have been treated for anxiety and depression since 2019. All of my meds and blood tests pertaining to my diabetes, hypertension and anxiety/depression are free of charge as is my antidepressants and visits to psychiatrists. I could get free psychotherapy for my anxiety/depression with accredited psychothérapists, but none will accept doing the paperwork to receive payment from the state of France. This attitude hurts their profession and gives their ilk a bad rep. They supposedly went into their field to help others, but generally prove themselves to be useless, greedy b**tards.

One of the bilingual therapists I engaged with has done Ted talks, has written a book, and offered to autograph my copy for me at our next session that cost €90 (her discount rate). In the end, she was more interested in telling me how successful she was rather than helping me deal with my anxiety issues.

There are also some people who have just kind of given up on caring about what politics others follow. IMO, as long as someone is respectful, and not trying to press their political views on others. I know plenty of kind republicans who want some kind of change in this world, but also i know some rude ones. same with democrats. as long a*s everyone isn't pushy about their belief, we should all be able to live in peace.

Otto von Bismarck. Bismarck viewed the growing international socialist movement and the non-violent German Social Democratic Party (SDP), in particular, with alarm. Bismarck's idea was to implement welfare programs that were acceptable to conservatives without any socialistic aspects. his strategy was: granting social rights to enhance the integration of a hierarchical society, to forge a bond between workers and the state so as to strengthen the latter, to maintain traditional relations of authority between social and status groups, and to provide a countervailing power against the modernist forces of liberalism and socialism. The social legislation implemented by Bismarck in the 1880s played a key role in the sharp, rapid decline of German emigration to America. Sickness Insurance Law of 1883; Accident Insurance Law of 1884; Old Age and Disability Insurance Law of 1889." BISMARCK A SOCIALIST ??? emoji-6487...5b9106.png emoji-64874cd5b9106.png

Same in Poland (country with free public healthcare) honestly but people prefer to ignore these facts to bash on US more. I'm legally forced to stay below certain income threshold to keep my insurance, and if I were to cross it all my income goes to paying for insurance plus extra that I don't have. So you either need to stay poor or jump from poverty straight to upper class income.

Well many parents don't parent anymore... and they expect the school to be the parent. Schools pay tens of thousands of dollars each year to pay for destruction of school property caused by their "mah boy wouldn't hurt a flea" kids. Many of the kids come to school with the latest shoes (saw a 5th grader with $500 sneakers a couple of years ago)-- -same kid took moe the bag of free food from each week becouase his parent were "poor". Parents send their kids to school with duct tape on their shoes- yet can still afford to go to the casino every friday-- have the latest gaming system- have a set of $3,000 rims on their cars- yet fail to teach their kids how to simply say "please" or "Thank-you." Kids will sit in class all year, and not do a single assignment- and mom explodes when her sweet little child earns a 0.0--- " Mah baby is smart"..... Parents? You want a better School system? Start parenting again.

It would be so much easier and safer to require certain things before school shooters purchase guns rather than “making it a fair fight” by giving them to the teachers.

My mom's been retired for about 15 years. They were buying their own Kleenex and white board markers by the late 90s. There's crowdfunding sites just for teachers to raise money for supplies (donorschoose.com is one I've heard of).

When I taught in a local high school, I usually spent at least $500 out of pocket every year for room supplies. But also, I will never forget the full staff meeting when they told us we were all having an across the board 20% pay cut. (We were all working two or three jobs.) So that the school could offer an incoming coaching staff a salary that would tempt him to stay. We all knew it would be a cash incentive. The staff was already so completely demoralized that nobody said a word.

The unborn are an easy thing to "support" - they can't say they don't want your help, they can't voice any opinion on it at all and the minute they are born they're no longer the unborn and no longer part of your crusade so whatever happens then isn't something you care about.

Yep, fetuses make the perfect victims for other people’s crusades. They get to project all their feelings onto something that can’t express its own desires and then feel good about themselves for “rescuing” it.

No form of birth control is 100% guaranteed. Accidents happen. Women should be allowed to choose whether or not to continue with the pregnancy based on their own needs at the time. If you don’t have a uterus, you don’t get to have an opinion

Can I introduce you to a person? My aunt. Who is a Christian. She doesn’t look or act like you might think a Christian acts. She is a single mother, adopted two kids. She has 3 rescue dogs, one of which who was horribly bad off. I swear not all Christians are evil, and I feel like it’s horrible that I have to say that because that’s against everything Christianity stands for. Calling ALL Christians horrible is just calling all white people racist, all black people thieves, all straight people homophobes. It’s just such a huge generalization that doesn’t apply to everyone. It does apply to some “Christians”, who certainly don’t act what they preach, but it doesn’t apply to all.

Pro-life is EVERY life is important, not just whites, not just blacks, not just straights, not just homosexuals, not just fetuses, not just children, not just homeless, not just rich people. EVERY SINGLE LIFE FROM CONCEPTION TO DEATH. it's a shame that the idea has been corrupted into anti-abortion, not the thing it truly stands for.

Yes, the school board was sending the parents the message that under no circumstance would they seriously consider resuming the children's education. Guess what? The rich kids with the nanny or stay-at-home Mom did just fine, and the working-class kids (including the vast majority of minorities) functionally received no education at all. Many even regressed as much as two years. All for a virus that is 1,000 times LESS LIKELY to harm students.

Most of the time, if you didn't break a rib, then you did it wrong. Most and all properly way of doing CPR, you are suppose to press down far enough like 2 inches down and fast enough to the song of " Staying Alive" meaning the beat of the song and if you break a rib or 2, then u may save their life!

Most CPR incidents end up with fractured ribs or sternum. Regardless of who does it. The depth you have to reach to stimulate the heart takes considerable force. Even if a medical professional completed CPR chances are you are alive but bruised, fractured or broke something.

That 70 bucks for Canada is misleading. One vial of insulin cost about $35, so you're looking at two vials at least for the month. The same vial goes for a hundred bucks in the US, so you'd need seven vials over the month to get to $700. Still insanely expensive, just wanted to clarify a bit.

My first medical for colon cancer surgery... that I received two days after being released... $351,000- and it was 45 printed pages. So far with follow up chemo / radiation and various cat scans and regular blood work--- Just under $4,000,000.00 --- that's 4 million dollars. A trip to the E.R.? Averaged $1,000 an hour. Got charged $138 for one aspirin once.

I buy a packet of 100 aspirin for about $2.50 Australian ffs, I am so mad on your behalf and praying that at least this is an insurance issue to deal with mostly. I also had a hysterectomy for uterus cancer, did not cost anything outside of heartache, time and some parking fees capped at $6.50 per visit.

When I lived in the US, I went for a blood test and accidentally picked a lab that wasn't in my insurance plan. My insurance did do one off coverage for things like that, though, and so when I was talking to the lab about them sending the insurance my bill and what I'd have to pay on top of it because the fees were higher than my insurance normally covered, they assured me they just adjusted their fees to fit my insurance coverage. So their fees were essentially meaningless beyond what they needed to cover costs and labour. Such a scam!

I was thinking it was likely a firearms store or at least had shooting supplies by the look of some of the items on that far wall. If it is a "gun store" then someone may potentially bring in a firearm that has a jammed round or some other malfunction and cannot make it safe (but one would hope they were not carrying it in a holster in that state). Also an open carry state would be the other option if it is just a normal sporting goods store

I can understand new, novel drugs that took a fortune to research being expensive in order to recoup costs *. But there is no excuse for insulin, it's long standing, patent free. So anything above "cost to manufacture" it gouging. * As for new, novel drugs, the govt should work to offset the research costs and bring the price down for the people who actually need them.

It's been a good few years since I've been in America, I used to go visit my brother fairly regularly. From the minute I ate my first meal until a week or so after getting back home my stomach would hurt so much - I'd be so bloated I'd look a few months pregnant - didn't seem to matter what I ate, everything just hurt my stomach - I'd come home lighter than I left but my waistband would be really tight due to the severe bloating. Whether it's something I'm maybe allergic or intolerant to that's used in a lot of food or the way the food is prepared I've no idea but it was horrible. I have similar happen when I eat peanuts and if I have too much dairy so I avoid those at home. There's a whole list of reasons I don't want to go back to America but that pain is pretty high on that list, it's torture.

I am absolutely astounded and speechless that they went in there and saved their own kids and left the other kids! What kind of human being does this? The school kids who put themselves in danger to try and save their fellow students are 1000x more braver than cops like this! Absolutely disgusting!

I don't know why the news reports them at all. It's exactly what the shooters want. One main reason there has been an increase is due entirely to the news media giving these people attention.

I feel like this is where they're heading. They'll have commercials advertising them for the whole family. Influencers will market them. Politicians will wear them giving speeches on how great it is they live in a country where they can be safe and keep their freedom - without seeing the irony. I feel sorry for the seemingly shrinking number of stable people over there.

Having a baby in my country is free. Even if you have to have a c-section. Even if baby needs emergency care or is premature. Even if you have to have medical care yourself. It costs nothing. I'm sure this is the same in many other developed countries. Except USA. USA. Land of the free. Where nothing is free, not even death.

It's not the price that concerns me. It's the last line, it's the same medicine, same dose. So why is there a difference in price in the first place? This is only reasonable if you're buying a generic versus a name brand. And even then there shouldn't be a 250% difference in price between generic and name brand.

Likely they couldn't - pharmacy fills prescriptions as written, you can't buy 3 of the cheapest one. What I wonder is if pharmacist tried to get price reduced, by seeing if generic could be given, by contacting doctors or insurance companies. etc

Genuine query: The rest of the world knows that the US healthcare system is bad, wrong and evil. But frequent, numerous posts imply most Americans share the same sentiment. So, in my ignorance, what's the blocker? What's holding the US back if (most?) of the population are of the same mind. It doesn't feel like the gun debate where views are heavily polarised. Who the hell would object to accessible, affordable healthcare? Educate me.

Gerrymandering of politics. Millions of dollars in lobbying from those who benefit. SCOTUS decisions like Citizens United which is just legalized corruption imo. Scare tactics about "communism" and smear campaigns against politicians who wants to do something about it. It's basically the same forces at work in the health care debate as in the debate about gun laws. In short: Follow the money.

That's just so wrong! I literally just had a visit to the emergency room at a PRIVATE HOSPITAL (ie- expensive if you don't have private health insurance) and found out that private insurance doesn't cover anything there anyway- the grand total bill!?- less than $200 - including the scan that caught a tumour!

Kids here as young as 6 walk and bike to school alone. We don't have school busses either, we have normal public transport that they can use too if they live far away. It's so sad to see what's happening in USA

(USA Millennial here) TBH, I rode my bike to elementary school most of the time, and then took the bus in middle school and high school, but I did live in a fairly small beach community on a barrier Island that, although only separated from the mainland and some high crime rate areas by a bridge, it felt very separated from all that. However, things have only been getting worse, and even though I reached 6'1" in middle school, and have always been a fairly large guy, walking home from school in 8th or 9th grade (already 6'1"and had to stay late for sports), as I was leaving school grounds, someone I didn't know drove up and offered to give me a ride home, claiming to be a friend of my sister's. I didn't recognize the person, and although it was possible the person was a friend of my sister's because she had tons of them, and the person seemed around the correct age, I was enjoying walking home and listening to my music, plus I wasn't wanting to get home that fast, so I said no thanks. The person tried a couple more times before leaving. It didn't occur to me until at least a month later that I am lucky I'm 6'1", and although it is possible that person was a friend of my sister's, I may have avoided a kidnapping attempt without realizing it at the time. I lost my point while remembering this instance, which I haven't thought about in a long time, and realizing that I may have barely avoided a kidnapping attempt...

No, it would be illegal to fire you for taking the bus to work. My guess is he thinks it looks bad that one of his employees can't afford a car. Of course if he paid you more.... If you do get fired for this, first file for unemployment. Secondly, find an employment lawyer. Talk to your city/county/state labor board. Talk to the media. The ACLU, too. Document all the times he has talked to you about this.

Person 1: heart stroke, arthroscopy, coronary cleaning, 2 stent, implant of a pacemaker-defibrillator, one month of hospital. Paid only for car parking outside the hospital. Person 2: breast cancer of the worst kind. Mastectomy, 2 1/2 years of subsequent cures: chemos, monoclonal antibodies, breast reconstruction, aesthethical surgery. Got some year (3 or 5, I'm not sure) of state subsidy, around 250€/month. Paid only for car parking outside the hospital. Person 3: very bad case of Covid, 3 months in hospital, all needed cures. Guess what? Paid only for car parking outside the hospital.

I literally can't wrap my head around this. The hospital would know the patients will never be able to pay a bill that high. Im going to assume thr hospital doesn't come up with the costs but who knows over there. They are never getting that money. Is the idea the entire family for generations will inherit the debt? Does it attach to any sort of payment that person gets whether it be wages or anything? I just imagine all of these ghost hospital bills that sit around wasting paper because no one will ever be able to pay it. Nor should they, by the way. I had a breast reduction, elective surgery. Whole thing cos under $3000 and I could pay it of without interest.

The hospitals know patients can’t pay, but insurance companies are notorious for bargaining a bill downwards. So hospitals overcharge in the hopes that after the insurance is done they still get a nice big payout. But people without insurance get charged the same insane rate because there is no logic and very little compassion in American medical billing

Geez, even union fees are massive there, mine costs me 83.16 a year, and like in Norway mine is also deductable if I choose to do so. I know that there are different unions with different costs, but a previous union I was with in a different field still only cost me around £100 a year. I agree with TotallyNOTaFox with their statement wishing their unions worked the same as on Europe

It’s not surprising to people who don’t live in southern USA, but I live here and most people are good people. Actually quite a jump scare to see those numbers…

Edit: I’m agnostic but didn’t Jesus tell people not to judge others? I’m pretty sure too that the Bible doesn’t say anything about homosexuality. I seem to remember that when translated properly it was about not laying down with children?

In my school there’s a wing with only 1 hallway entrance/exit to the main building, there’s two other doors that lead outside and if you go through them you will be locked out and punished for trying to leave. There were supposed to be 4 exit halls, two on each floor, but no, they need the three extra offices.

This happened with my parents. They had divorced after my mom went into remission (dad was a major D I C K). Well, she relapsed and got even sicker, but my dad begged her to come home so she wouldn't be alone. They got closer and wanted to remarry, mom wanting to be his wife again when she passed- it was coming and we couldn't stop the cancer. Well, they ended up doing a beautiful ceremony in the hospital chapel but did not make it official with the government bc my dad was still paying on the bills from her first round of cancer and had already declared bankruptcy. She passed away about 3 months later at home. Still pisses me off that my stepmom couldn't remarry my dad bc of the damn pathetic laws we have and how much it costs to be sick in America.

In the US, people get divorced when diagnosed with terminal cancer, so that their spouse won't be left widowed, homeless, and with hundreds of thousands of dollars of medical debt. If you get divorced before starting treatment, and give your spouse the house in their settlement, they don't lose it, and they can't be legally pursued for your medical bills incured after the divorce.

Actually I kind of like this. As a parent with zero control over the government doing a single thing to prevent these things from happening, this would give me a small sense of security. Yes it sucks going to work everyday hoping your kid comes home from school safely.

We had clinical staff in some areas covid positive being told "just wear PPE we need you to stay working. We can put some chairs in the tea room if you need to sit down for your tea break". I believe in the efficacy of PPE but having actively unwell clinicians looking after vulnerable people in hospitals and aged care facilities and just hoping that they do not contaminate the PPE accidentally and then effectively negate it and spread covid to others is insanity. PPE is part of a suite of protection measures - sanitising, vaccinating, distancing and isolating. That is how you help stop ANY kind of infections spreading

A Christian school held one of these where I lived. A mother, an RN, took her immunocompromised 14 year old daughter (the girl was in remussion from cancer). The girl was in the ICU within 2 weeks with COVID. Her RN mother refused to let the doctors intubate her for treatment. The girl was dead within a month. How is this not murder?

Wait ... they are 100% okay to expose themselves to a virus and let it enter their bodies to get vaccinated ... and 100% against getting exposed to the same virus and letting it enter their bodies to get vaccinated ... with the only difference that the latter involves knowledge about the virus and medical personnel. But this is not unique to the US.

THIS! Totally this. I have lost count of the number of so called "medical professionals" I have had to encounter in the vaccine clinics who come down, booking an appointment, to sit there and refuse to have the vaccine. I know there are groups that were deliberately doing that so as to cause vaccine wastage (and time and resources) just to f**k everyone else over trying to get the vaccine. They wanted to tell me how getting the virus naturally was the best (and safest) way to get immunity to diseases and that artificial vaccines were basically the Devil's work. Explaining to them that vaccines (controlled exposure to gain immunity, highly specific protein markers targetting the virus so the b memory cells are created, none of the wildcard parts of a complete virus) are like getting soldiers to train before sending them off to war rather than just handing the same guys a gun as you push them off the truck into a raging battle. For some reason they just were not open to hearing that

As an aside, I'm getting really tired of being indirectly mocked as stupid because America doesn't use the Imperial system. Look, we get it. Imperial is easier, etc. But we didn't LEARN the Imperial system, and it's unlikely the government is going to switch over suddenly, so we can't just "adopt" it magically. We're not stupid just because we use the metric system in America. It's okay that Americans use the metric system. It's okay that the rest of the world uses Imperial. It's okay that we use Fahrenheit and you use Celsius. We can ALL google conversions in like three seconds. Stop hating, either way :p
